Fantastic semi-detached villa with panoramic terrace and pool close to Volterra

Bedrooms 2
Space 1,022 sq. ft.
Property type apartment
Minimum Stay 4 nights

About the property

2 bedroom, 2 bathroom semi-detached villa with stunning views from all aspects

Villa Giotto is in a prime position for exploring all that Tuscany has to offer, set on the top of a hill it boasts stunning 360 degree views, you can see the sunrise at the front of the villa, enjoy the sun in the garden all day and watch the sunset at the rear of the villa (glass of wine optional). Thanks to the 3 large patio doors in the living/kitchen area the amazing views can also be seen from inside the villa.

The villa is part of an old Borgo called Collevicchi that has been re-built in a traditional Tuscan style but has modern facilities, the Borgo is made up of just 10 individual properties (6 apartments and 4 semi detached villas). Entry to the Borgo is via a private road that serves the Borgo, the Agriturismo Santa Vittoria and one other private villa, remote controlled gates allow access to Borgo Collevicchi and there is plenty of parking available within the fully landscaped grounds

The Villa has two double bedrooms: Bedroom 1 has a Queen sized bed, a double wardrobe, dressing table, mirror and large patio doors that open onto the front garden. Bedroom 2 has two single beds that can be pushed together if necessary, a double wardrobe, dressing table, mirror and two sets of large patio doors that open onto the front and side garden. Also the large lounge has a triple sofa that converts into a comfortable double bed. Freshly laundered bed sheets, towels and bath towels are included in the cost of your stay.

The bedrooms and lounge are all fully air-conditioned for comfort in the hot summer months (reversible to provide additional heating in the winter) and there is a Gas Central Heating system for the winter months.

There are two well equipped tiled bathrooms, both have a shower, large washbasin and vanity unit with two large drawers, toilet, bidet and heated towel rail.

The fully equipped kitchen/diner has an oven, gas hob, dishwasher and fridge freezer, in the utility room is a top loading washing machine, cleaning equipment, vacuum cleaner, an ironing board and iron, there is also storage for sunbeds (x 4 provided) etc.

Outside to the rear of the property there is a large (55sq Metres) newly constructed south facing terrace, to the side of the property is a smaller covered terrace for scenic breakfasts. The rest of the large garden is made up of paths and lawned areas. Breath-taking views can be seen from all three sides of the private garden and are second to none.

The large salt water swimming pool is approximately 20 Metres away from the villa (a one minute walk) and is open from the end of May to the end of September, the pool also offers spectacular panoramic views from its terrace.

For those that must remain in touch, Wi-Fi is available throughout the villa and around the pool area, although due to the infrastructure of the Italian internet system it is more for social media and catching up with emails than for playing games etc.

The nearest restaurant is just 200 Metres away - the wonderful Agriturismo Santa Vittoria, they are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner on most days, guests at the villa have the opportunity to book in at their restaurant (early booking is recommended as the restaurant is extremely popular with the locals as well) and sample their delicious local specialities (most of the ingredients are produced/reared on their farm/land) and they source and supply fabulous local wines.

Just 15 minutes drive away (on one road) is the fabulous Etruscan city of Volterra (said to be the inspiration for the Twilight films and series) which has many excellent restaurants to choose from and plenty of shops for retail therapy.

The nearest supermarket is just 10 minutes drive away (towards Volterra), there is also is a much larger supermarket just through the town.

Being positioned in the centre of Tuscany, the fabulous cities of Florence, Siena, Pisa (City and Airport) are well within 1 hours drive, whilst Lucca is slightly over an hour away. The very popular San Gimignano is around 20 minutes drive away and the nearest coast Cecina is around 40 minutes drive.

There are many vineyards nearby that are open to the public for wine tasting and tours and most have food available too.

About Robert Jackson

We are a family of four and are fairly well travelled, both throughout Europe and the World. However we always came back to Tuscany for the incredible landscape, the landscape changes from season to season - from lush greens to golden browns.

We have found that the local people throughout Tuscany are so friendly and the food and wine is fantastic.

We have only just purchased the villa and are still making various changes, so there are no reviews yet - we have successfully let the villa out previously for most of 2016, but this has been through the nearby Agriturismo Santa Vittoria.

For 2017 we have also decided to rent the property on a dedicated website.

Robert Jackson purchased this apartment in 2015

Why Robert Jackson chose Volterra

Whilst looking for a property to purchase in Tuscany, we viewed many properties in several different areas, before we decided that "Villa Giotto" was to be our “home away from home”.

We have actually stayed in 3 of the other apartments at Borgo Collevicchi (on separate occasions and in summer and autumn) while we were searching, as from the outset we were absolutely blown away by the stunning panoramic views.

We decided that Villa Giotto was by far the best property that we had seen in Tuscany and felt at home as soon as we stayed there for a few nights, the large patio doors throughout the villa allow the stunning views to be seen from every room and especially the lounge/dining area.

What makes this apartment unique

Amazing views, very sociable layout, very good restaurant 200 metres away, Luigi the owner of the Agriturismo looks after the villa for us and is very knowledgeable about the area and helpful to our guests, easy access to Volterra and all popular cities, lovely pool surrounded by panoramic terrace, landscaped grounds and large private garden.

A lovely villa with all the comforts of home plus amazing views

  • 5 of 5

Villa Giotto is a lovely villa in the true Tuscan style. The beds were very comfy and the bathrooms are spacious with tiled walk In showers. The patio is equipped with tables and chairs to enjoy outdoor dining with amazing views of the Tuscan countryside as far as the eye can see. Also a beautiful pool with amazing views. Robert , the owner provided extensive info about what to see and do in the area along with detailed driving and parking instructions. He is always available via email for questions. Excellent restaurant at Santa Vittoria next door and Luigi is always available for anything you might need. Also you can order fresh baked bread from him every day to pick up at 9AM!!! A perfect location for visiting many Tuscan hill towns. If we find ourselves in this part of Tuscany in the future we will definitely rent Villa Giotto again.

Owner's Response: Dear Diane and all, Many thanks for your kind review, we are really glad that you enjoyed your stay at our villa. Your email meant a great deal to us and I'm happy that I could be of some assistance, it was really nice to see a picture of you all at the church. Our Italian neighbours said that you were lovely people and that they really enjoyed talking to you. We look forward to hearing from you when you plan your next visit to Tuscany. Robert and Justine

Mr & Mrs - 40th birthday celebrations!

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a wonderful 2 week holiday at Villa Giotto to celebrate our special birthdays and we will definitely be going back in the future.

We booked via the Home & Away website which was easy and the owners were prompt with any queries we had.

On arrival Luigi (owner at Agriturismo) greeted us and was very friendly and helpful and showed us around the site and amenities.

The villa is fully equipped and very comfortable including a double and twin bedroom each with own bathroom. The kitchen and lounge area are very comfortable and open up directly onto the patio.

The outstanding feature, however, is the panoramic views both up to Volterra and across the valley, especially in the evening with spectacular sunsets.

The Agriturismo Santa Vittoria is a very short walk away and the food and wine there is excellent. We also self catered so we could enjoy the beautiful views however, there are also good restaurants both locally & further afield.

The villa has a large patio with excellent sunloungers and, if you fancy a dip, the swimming pool is only around the corner, again with fabulous views.

The location is a great base as there are a number of places within easy reach.

We visited Volterra, San Gimignano and Cecina in the car-all within 45 minutes.

We also visited Pisa and Florence - we would recommend driving to Pontedera and then getting the train into the city centres to avoid any traffic/parking issues.

We would recommend any of these trips but there are also lots of lovely local hill towns and vineyards to visit.

You can do as much or as little as you like, we divided our time between sightseeing and relaxing around the villa, as it was such a beautiful place and very peaceful and relaxing.

We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Villa Giotto hence the 5 star rating.

Vi hadde et kjempeflott opphold i denne leiligheten som inneholder det aller meste av fasiliteter. To store soverom, begge med hvert sitt bad. Godt utstyrt kjøkken, men savnet litt ekstra skapplass.
