This gorgeous property is situated in Northern France one and a half hours drive south from Caen. Set in the most tranquil countryside, surrounded by fields and great scenery. The gite is on one split level dividing the kitchen and bathroom from the lounge and bedroom. Ideal for those who struggle with stairs. The gite has a double four poster bed with a very comfortable mattress. There is a TV with English channels, DVD and CD player. It has a modern fully fitted kitchen and bathroom comprising of a bath and shower. Electric heating throughout, keeping the gite warm and cosy during those winter months.
A private driveway and secluded garden with table and chairs and portable BBQ, for alfresco dining, allowing you to unwind and enjoy the peace and tranquility.
The area provides a walker's and birdwatcher's paradise, as well as great cycling opportunities. In our Village of Barenton, you can follow the disused converted railway line for miles in both directions, stopping for lunch and a well earned rest. Walk into Barenton for your fresh baguettes or drive 10- 15 minutes into the local town of Mortain. This town has a large outdoor swimming pool (seasonal).
Your trip would not be complete without a visit to the wonderful scenic Petite and Grand falls or Petite Chapelle (small chapel) housing an American war monument with panoramic views stretching for miles. Mortain also has a disused monastery which you can visit, this was one of the last working ones in France. Other places of interest include Mont St Michel approximately 1 and 1/4 hours drive away. Normandy is famous for its beeches and war Museums. Pay a visit to Bagnoles-de-l-orne, a delightful and only thermal spa in the whole of Northwest France. There is so much to do and see in the area such as the Bayeux tapestry, Domfront, Saint- Malo, Dinan, the Camembert factory, with the Abbey. Your trip would not be complete without a visit to the weekly traditional French market at saint-Hilaire, purchasing foods, clothing, and home goods. Not to mention the Vide-Graniers/Brocantes markets to pick up a bargain. Alternatively, stay in and totally relax, read a book by the romantic wood burner or sunbath in a very private garden. Purchase the most delicious organic chicken eggs locally from our friends neighboring English farmer's.. A lovely secluded garden with table and chairs for alfresco dining and deck chairs to watch the sun go down. You are welcomed with a bottle of red wine and chocolates.

About Property Manager
Hi, I'm Karen, I live in Buckinghamshire with my husband, two daughters and three dogs. We have been travelling to France for over 25 years and decided to buy property there as we loved Normandy so much and everything it has to offer.
Property Manager purchased this Cottage in 2007
Why Property Manager chose Barenton
I have an interest in interior designer, so converting this gite and it's sister gite Maison de Lilli (ref; 6871522) has been a real passion of mine. whilst maintaining it's original feature as a bake house, it provides the modern home comforts. You will not fail to be dissapointed with what is on offer.

My fourth stay in this gorgeous gite, (previous visits through Novosol.) And I can tell you I have never been disappointed.
The owners go to so much effort to ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible. Living in a town, getting away to this idyllic spot; is the best tonic ever! Each time, I find somewhere new of interest to visit. Having a love of painting, the light in Normandy is quite something. Looking forward to another stay in the summer. Don't hesitate to pay a visit!
Thank you for your favourable review, we try our best and take pleasure in ensuring all our guests fell like VIP'S
Lovingly furnished gite
Lovely and lovingly furnished gite, perfectly equipped (no internet but that can be an advantage of course). The location is marvellous.
Quiet and relaxing.
We had a lovely few days at 'Grace' - compact, clean and full of character.
Maison de Grace
The listing of the property was accurate. Jeremy and Karen set out to please and Tessa at the farm across the road was helpful with fresh eggs and advice. I would recommend this gites as a place for peace and tranquility with access to places for dining out.
We are delighted you have enjoyed your stay with us again and welcome you back very soon.

'WOW' what a truely amazing find. Can't rate highly enough.
My wife and I stayed here and our friends booked the sister gite Maison de Lilli (6871522) We arrived in the dark and were welcomed with a lit gite, bottle of wine and chocolates on our pillow, all so welcoming. We were amazed at how much bigger it is inside than the pictures portray. The gite was very clean and beautifully decorated. There wasn't anything more we could have asked for.We took our own linen however, it is nice to have the option to hire them if necessary, we had a very restful night, the mattress was incredibly comfortable. We awoke to the sound of birds chirping and the sun blazing.Despite the fact it was February we sat outside and had breakfast overlooking the stunning countryside. Later we met Carl and Tessa, the English neighbors who own a farm just down the lane, they were very friendly and helpful with suggestions of restaurants and places of interest to visit, we couldn't leave without buying some of their free range organic eggs which were incredible. Our first trip was into the village for some fresh baguettes, the bank and chemist for essentials we left back in the UK! A 10-15 minute drive took us into the bigger town of Mortain, to visit the Peti falls and grand falls, which we would recommend highly if you get the time. The only downfall was that I wish we could have stayed for longer! However we have already planned to return in the summer for 2 weeks. Highly recommend.
We are delighted you had a most enjoyable stay and always do our best to ensure we maintain a high standard for all our guests.
