«Magenta Apartment», at a few steps from the ground floor, faces a private street, very quiet by night. On the rear side of the building, it faces an exclusive garden, a real joy for warm evenings: it will allow you to have a romantic candlelit dinner under a mimosa tree after a daily tour in town. Nothing has changed since the first decades of the last century When our beloved uncle Renzo was living there.

We stayed in this lovely apartment for 2 weeks and it was really a treat to come back from walking miles in very rainy, cool weather to a warm comfortable home away from home. We loved the location. It was close to the train station and a short walk to the center of Florence. It was quiet and very well maintained. I loved the garden but the weather only permitted one sunny day in the garden.Paolo made the entire transaction easy and I have recommended this apartment to many of my friends. There were many wonderful restaurants near by and a very cute little grocery store not far from the apartment.
A comfortable place to come home to.
This apartment is a gem. The garden is so nice to have breakfast in or an afternoon glass of wine. The kitchen is nice, and the dining room table is grand! There are restaurants nearby and a deli just down the street and a grocery just steps in the other direction.
There are busses and the tram just 3 minutes away. We spent a lovey week there.
A special trip was to Feisole - a town about 5 km out of town on the #17 bus. The hike to the monastery is well worth the trip.
We would have given the review a four and a half star, the half away from a five star review due to small things. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Firenze. Our landlord Paolo and his assistant Carlotta could not have been more helpful, even though they were in Bologna and we in Firenze. There were faucet leaks in the bathroom and kitchen, but they sent a plumber immediately to rectify the minor problem. A number 17 needs to be placed on the street side to show guests and taxi drivers where we were. A housekeeper was included during our stay, a pleasant surprise to us. We were close to a food market, several outstanding restaurants, a post office, two banks, a tram stop and a bus stop. Everyone in our neighborhood was most helpful to us at every turn. What more could we ask?? There was a huge local market in the park every Tuesday and we were able to purchase any little incidentals we needed. The beds were comfortable, and the entire apartment accommodating. We will recommend the apartment and stay there again if ever we are in Frienze for any length of time. We were there for a month and loved our stay. We got a real feel for the city by being so close to the town center, the train and bus stations, and other accommodating facilities. Thank you, Paolo and Carlotta!
Charming large apartment in Florence's quiet neighbourhood
We spent 5 nights in Paolo's lovely apartment over the Easter weekend. Our adult son joined us, so 3 adults, and we had pleanty of room. The apartment is exactly as presented in the pictures, very clean, with the lovely, spacious outdoor garden. We were able to enjoy Easter lunch in the garden with the scent of the blooming Calla lillies. The apartment is well appointed with pretty much everything you might need. It is conveniently situated within walking distance of the train station, and about 20 minutes from most major attractions. This meant it was a nice quiet neighbourhood. The area was safe, had many restaurants and little grocery stores. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Paolo's apartment and would highly recommend it to anyone needing a bit of extra room for guests.
Thank you for your visit. I am happy you enjoyed your stay in Magenta Apartment. Paolo
Elegant Ground Floor Apartment
This elegant ground floor apartment with large rooms, high ceilings, and antique furniture is perfect for the long-term visitor who has visited Florence many times before. The location, while still “inside the walls,” is a 30 minute walk from the Centro Storico. The alternatives to walking are taking the local buses (C-2 and C-3 from either of two stops approximately two blocks away) or the radio taxi, ranging from 10 to 15 euro.
The local grocery store has now closed, but there is a wonderful deli (with a limited selection of wine) half a block away. You can buy meat at the local butcher’s shop next door to the deli. The travel agent on Via del Prato is excellent and can arrange your train tickets for destinations throughout Italy.
Staying in this apartment is a little like visiting your elderly great aunt. While the kitchen is chock full of pots and pans, and there is an oven, we still needed to buy a non-stick skillet to use for the stove-top. There was only one wine glass, albeit a very elegant one, so we needed to buy some of those as well. Same for coffee spoons.
The plumbing was last updated more than fifty years ago, so you need to be able to step over the high sides of the tub to use the phone style shower. You need to be familiar with the limits of an on-spot water heater (very hot for 2-3 minutes) and clever at mixing manually to get water that doesn’t scald your body. We took camp-style showers.
Mosquitoes are a manageable problem. Thankfully the landlord provides fans and mosquito repellant devices on request. That said, you need to bring (or buy) your own personal spray repellant and topical antihistamine if you are sensitive.
The landlord isn’t local, but is responsive when problems arise. If necessary, he will send a representative to work out the solutions.
A beautiful oasis in a wonderful city
Stayed for a week with my partner and our 2 children (20 & 22)
The apartment is perfect, everything we expected and much more. The beds are comfortable, linen hotel quality, large bedrooms with fabulously high ceilings and loads of storage. All the rooms are large & spacious, the shower although over the bath was powerful and water is always hot. Kitchen is well equipped, large fridge with freezer. Although we didn’t cook meals, we did prepare breakfast everyday and a couple of lunches – escaping the heat to sit in the shade under the tree in the pretty garden. The interior of the apartment was always cool, the marble floors and shutters helped. My partner is Italian and he had wonderful memories of summers spent at his grandparents’ house. The décor is traditional with beautiful pieces of antique furniture.
Florence is a beautiful city and although the apartment is a 20/25 min walk from most of the major tourist spots, I only saw this as a massive advantage. It felt like you had escaped the crowds & could relax. For a real taste of Italian life, visit the other side of the river, we ate there most nights, lovely little restaurants, basic knowledge of Italian would be an advantage but not essential.
Florence is a wonderful place and Magenta apartment is the icing on a very beautiful cake.
We rent this apartment for short tourist stays in Florence. We ask for a minimum stay of five days. The apartment is located in Florence on a residential complex building dating from the first decades of the past century, close to the railway station of Santa Maria Novella and the city center, between Porta Prato and the Arno River at walking distance from the center - Ideal for visiting the town. Some pieces of furniture are quite antique and the apartment still has old-fashioned household items.
