About Pasca

Our family travel between London, Madrid and Gaucin throughout the year enjoying the contrast of the city and country. As lovers of travel, we have lived in parts of Asia and Europe and discovered Andalucia a few years ago - it was hard to resist the dramatic landscapes, the tranquility, food, culture and sunshine. Having the Rif Mountains and Morocco only a stones throw away also attracted us to the area. In the winter, Gaucin offers a perfect retreat for curling up in front of the fire as the smell of wood smoke fills the air, and equally in the summer, the lively, fun and sunshine-filled atmosphere makes for a perfect summery escape.

Pasca purchased this house in 2016

What makes this house unique

This charming house is perfectly positioned on the edge of the village - it is lovely and quiet but still within easy reach of village facilities, restaurants and bars. The house has oodles of personality and character, positioned over lots of different levels. With a private pool at the bottom of the windy tropical garden and plenty of terraces to relax on with stunning views towards Africa, it's no wonder we fell in love with this house. The house is often used by us as a family and has a lovely homely and rustic ambiance - we hope you will enjoy it as much as we do.

Stylish home, perfect for children, wonderful pool

  • 5 of 5

Great place to chill out and lounge by the pool. Very stylish and has everything you need in a holiday home. My children found it very hot at this time of the year so it was good that the house was always cool and there were shady places to sit and play. Will definitely be coming back.

Lovely place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

The house is so nice! Great location, right in the middle of the village and easy to access everything but close to the countryside so you can go for long peaceful walks. The interior is lovely and comfortable, with lots of beautiful pieces of furniture. The pool is so nice and so many wonderful spots outside to relax with a glass of wine and stunning views. Pasca went above and beyond helping us out and making our stay so enjoyable.

Lovely traditional style property in Gaucin.

  • 4 of 5

Great property, well kitted out with everything you need. Four good sized bedrooms (one a garden room so separate from house). Lovely pool area with three separate sunbathing terraces and upstairs terrace has the most amazing views. Gaucin is lovely, with bars and restaurants and good area for watching vultures and eagles. Booking and check in and check out all easy and Ellie the housekeeper was really helpful. Would definitely recommend it and would go back. One thing to note is driving in Gaucin was interesting as roads are very narrow but would be ok if you had smallish vehicle. We didn't have small vehicle so we parked on edge of village and walked in (10 mins) which was no problem.

Well equipped character village house

  • 5 of 5

Three generations arrived late in the evening, our minibus driver having braved the incredibly narrow lanes to deliver us all to the front door of the house. Ellie, who manages the house gave us a quick overview of the house & village and was on hand to answer any queries throughout our stay. We arrived during the feria - a weekend of celebrations for the village & surrounding area.

We had visited this area of Spain on many occasions so chose to stay in the village for the whole week relaxing: enjoying walks, the small pool and eating out.

We tried a lot of the local eateries and weren't disappointed with any of them. ( Zoro's portions are huge). The local butcher's shop was fantastic & they were so helpful ( the shop always looked closed as the shutters were down to keep out the flies). Opening days and times for restaurants and grocery shops were an ever changing mystery!

The house is well maintained, beautiful bedding, nice rugs & cushions and the kitchen is very well equipped ( a few more plastic glasses for the pool area would be good).

So many books! Adult & childrens. And lots of games and toys.

The area around the pool is a little cramped for 8 people but there are lots of terraces with tables and chairs and we loved having breakfast every morning on the main terrace enjoying the magnificent views across to Gibraltar. Also a good spot for viewing the huge variety of birds ( including vultures).

Thank you Pasca for sharing your delightful home with us.

Lovely, well equipped house

  • 5 of 5

Gaucin is a lovely village, and a little cooler than the coast. There are some steep hills, and the house has a few steps as it is built on a hill. There is everything you need for a relaxing stay.

Relaxed house with glorious garden and vistas

  • 4 of 5

This village house converted from an ancient bodega provided a wonderful place to recover after a hard year's graft. Gaugin is a beautiful, whitewashed town with the sense of being far more than just a tourist trap. Eating out was unpretentious, wholesome and modestly priced. Eating in was a delight as the butcher offered cuts of some of the tastiest lamb and pork have eaten in a while. A small convenience/supermarket far less than a stones throw provided most of what we needed and a wonderful selection of fresh produce all in season locally.

Trips by car, you will need one, to the coast and Ronda made for pleasant outings. My walking boots took me through steep valleys, rolling hills and up the nearby peak El Hacho from where the panorama was magnificent in all directions. The sense of being on the edge of Europe connecting to a far wider world is palapable.

People I met were hospitable and obliging and usually put my few halting words of Spanish to shame.

I will definitely try and get back to this lovely house to rest and explore again later in the year now that my taste has been whetted.

Little to say of the house as it provided such an easy and faultless backdrop to everything I needed.
