Cozy waterside cottage with great views and plenty of space.

Bedrooms 2
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 1 - 7 nights

About the property

2 large bedrooms sleeping 4 people comfortably.

Joined to the mainland via a road bridge, beautiful Achill Island is positioned on the West coast of Ireland and is Eire's premier holiday island.

This spacious two bedroomed holiday cottage is decorated and equipped to modern standards and comes supplied with everything that you will need for a great self-catering holiday. It is ideally situated to make the most out of all that Achill Island and County Mayo has to offer, whatever your choice of adventure.

A traditional Irish detached cottage that has been extended over the years and now offers a master bedroom with king-sized bed and en-suite, and a twin bedroom with sea views, lounge with open fireplace, modern kitchen with open fireplace, bathroom with slipper bath, sun room with dining area that overlooks the estuary and Mayo mountains, plenty of safe private outdoor areas, patio area for barbecues and relaxing in. Private parking. Set in a real Irish community and not a holiday village.

Saula West Cottage is ideal for couples & small families. Set on the quieter East coast of Achill, It provides the perfect retreat to relax and unwind in a beautiful setting. Ideally located, the Cottage is just minutes from the picturesque villages of Dugort, Dooega, Keem and Keel with their own European awarded Blue-Flag Beaches. It also makes a super base from which to explore this beautiful part of Ireland. There are plenty of interesting places to visit and just about every activity to enjoy including horse riding, water sports, golf, surfing, diving, kayaking, cycling, fishing and great walking opportunities. Also renowned for it's "Wild Atlantic Way" tourist route. The recently extended "Greenway" walking and cycling route passes by our front door and opens up County Mayo for those wanting an easy access to all that this beautiful part of Ireland has to offer.

Centrally located on the Island but sitting directly on the estuary, this cottage is new to the rental market and possibly one of the best situated of all of Achill's holiday properties, allowing easy access to all parts of the holiday island, whilst retaining a space away from the holidaying hoards that frequent the island during peak seasons.

Local Cashel village offers good amenities with a fuel station, a village store stocking essential items and a nice family-friendly pub, all within walking distance. "Teds" pub is just a short walk away, and the newly opened café/tearoom is a treasure and great boon to the Island.

The local village of Achill Sound is also a few minutes drive away, and has more bustling Irish pubs which also offer great food. There are also several other restaurants serving very good local food, including freshly caught local seafood. You will also find other shops including supermarkets, DIY stores, hairdressers, bakery, takeaways, chemist/pharmacy, butchers selling renowned local lamb, bus and taxi services if required.

If you can not find enough things to do on the Island (doubtful!), then the Island has road links to nearby Mulranny which is just 18 km away. Ballycroy National Park (30km away) is simply lovely and is well worthy of a visit. It hosts a visitor centre that has a lot of interesting information about nature and local history, with a nice café too. The historic town of Westport (45km away) has more shopping and entertainment and is well known for the Westport House & Gardens, The Coffin Ship Memorial and Croagh Patrick and it's stunning views across the 365 islands of Clew Bay. Castlebar (50km away) offers a much wider range of shops, restaurants and bars, along with a cinema, vibrant market, The Royal Theatre & Event Centre, Mayo Memorial Peace Park and nearby, the National Museum of Ireland. We suggest that you do your full week's shopping here, before driving to the Island, as you will find a better choice and availability (possibly cheaper too)

This cottage is a real find and booking early is recommended.

* Please note that there is NO WIFI provided at this property but is available locally.

Why Neil & Fiona Stafferton chose Salia

We had heard that the west coast of Ireland was special but when we visited Achill for the first time we could not believe how beautiful it truly is. We fell in love with the island and spent a while searching for a property that we could return to year after year ourselves. We found it at Saula West.

A great location that is never far from any part of the island nor main-land.

Truly lovely.

What makes this cottage unique

We fell in love with the views from this property and the fact that they change constantly throughout the day. You can just look out and drift away and relax and enjoy your time in our home-from-home.

We hope that you love it as much as we do.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hope all is well. We had a fantastic stay in the Achill cottage. It is a beautiful cottage.
