My wife and I stayed four nights. What a nice place. Everything was as represented and there was plenty of hot water and pressure. The bed was comfortable. The village is nice and very quiet. A bakery is about 20 meters away and opens at 0530.
Yes, Perfectly Charming
Our 3 day stay at La Cour de Clémence was perfect! Gisèle and Jean-Jacques, the perfect hosts, were so welcoming and ever prepared to provide information and the little things that made us feel welcome (Jean-Jacques, your jam was delicious!). As for the cottage, it was idyllic, a wonderfully renovated barn and courtyard, that is perfect for 1-2 couples to explore the beautiful Alsace region. Clean, safe, well appointed and a beautiful oasis, close to restaurants and bakery (fresh croissants for breakfast), the local bus stop, in the quaint little town of Eckwersheim. 5 star ⭐️
Beautiful gite in very attractive village
This was a part of France we had not visited before and we were not disappointed. The gite is beautifully presented with all that you could need. It is in a really peaceful location yet it is easy to get into Strasbourg, which is not to be missed, and there is also plenty to see and do in the surrounding countryside with chateaux, forests, nature reserves, museums etc. all very close by.The village patisserie is almost too convenient as obviously needs to be visited daily and is very tempting. Jean-Jacques and Gisele were both very helpful with our queries, and allowed us to bring along our cockapoo dog, who enjoyed being a tourist wherever we went. She was allowed on the buses and in restaurants and even took a boat trip with us, so a lot was possible.
The best gite we have stayed in...
It has become a tradition for my husband, my parents and I to visit Alsace in Advent to experience the Christmas markets and visit our friends who live nearby. Over the last 15 years or so we have had some terrible experiences with French gites and French gite owners - so much so that in past years we have chosen to stay across the Rhine in Germany.
This year I booked 'La Cour de Clemence' determined to give Alsace another go and I am so glad I did.
The gite is stylish, well equipped, warm and really clean. We could park the car off the street under cover and felt at home immediately. The gite was decorated for Christmas and the owner's had left some little gifts for us which were much appreciated. The village is lovely, really quiet and everyone we met was friendly. The boulangerie was great and my Mum in particular spent a good deal of time there...!
In previous year's the checking in process has been difficult but we had no such problems this time. Jean-Jacques was there to greet us at the specified time and he made us feel immediately at ease.
My only suggestion for improvement would be to have some basic instructions available for working the appliances. We worked it out but it would have saved us some time to have something to refer to.
My parent's loved the place so much they didn't want to leave and we hope very much that we can make a return visit.
We would like to say a big thank you to Jean-Jacques and Gisele for letting us use their beautiful home. We wish them every happiness and success in the future.
This place is out of this worls
I stayed there just few days on my business trip. This place is fantastic! Great place to relax and get work done, have meetings. And they have great wine, cheese, and Gisèle and Jean are very very friendly people. Wifi needs a little tlc (booster), but it still works very well in the patio. If you have car => there is a garage . This place is very spacy , a perfect blend of modern simplicity and old good wisdom in how to build houses.
Next door there is bakery with fresh pastries and good coffee. Also next door there great little bar with beer and very friendly horse racing fans (i even won some some money on local horse racing lotto). (The are a lots of horsing activities around btw). Very few people speak English, but that has never been an issue, it seems like they almost can read your mind and always know exactly what u want :)) and sooooo friendly! I love this place!
