Cabin, 3 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4-9)
We are a military family who built this home in 2002 and are blessed that we can share it with others!
Rich purchased this Cabin in 2002
Why Rich chose Alma
We have long ties to this part of Colorado. The Irish Rose feels wild and secluded but is close to Alma and Faiplay, and a short drive to the mountain ski town of Breckenridge.
What makes this Cabin unique
The Irish Rose has 10 acres of total seclusion with pine, aspen, a river, and amazing views. Many houses on the internet may look similar, but very few properties give you the total Colorado experience. Look at our guestbook and see that it will be a unique and memorable experience!

We had a great time! Everything was perfect and the views were spectacular!!
Everything was wonderful. The hot tub was well maintained under a beautiful night sky. The home was thoughtfully equipped with just about anything you could need. Kay, the caretaker, was kind, available and helpful. We loved the lemon poppyseed cake she left for us. It is just remote enough. We enjoyed lots of breweries in the area.
A True Mountain Get-Away
The description of this property is spot on! It's extremely remote location gives you privacy and spectacular views, including wildlife. The owners have strategically placed a salt lick in a field that can be easily viewed from inside the house. We woke up one morning and looked out the big wall of windows and saw mama moose and her baby grazing and another night we spotted the male moose in the timber. There are trails and lots of land to explore. The running water sounds of the nearby creek were spa-like and so relaxing! My husband was able to catch a few small trout in the steam as well.
The house had everything we needed. I was a bit hesitant about having someone living in the lower level but Kay ended up being a great blessing! The key wasn't in the box when we arrived (which is always alarming) but having her on location made getting into the house so easy. She was very helpful with advice on altitude sickness, local eating places, etc. when we approached her but otherwise, we hardly knew she was there.
The only drawback of this location was the high altitude. We all experienced some sickness, even with drinking lots of water. My advice would be to buy a portable bottle of oxygen and use it. They can be purchased at the Al-Mart in Alma, which is an awesome little store, by the way! And the South Park Saloon in Alma was one of our favorite places to eat, with burgers that are ground fresh daily, buttermilk battered fresh pickles and pizza made from homemade dough and fresh ingredients!
This location is also within driving distance of several places. We visited Breckenridge, Frisco, Fairplay, Buena Vista, Canon City and Royal Gorge. Overall, it was a really fun trip and a great lodging experience. I would highly recommend it for a family vacation!
Solitude and convenience
This is the place to get away from the daily grind. Lovely property with many areas around it to explore. We enjoyed hiking around and seeing the old mining operations, we panned for gold and had a memorable time. We built a sluice, named him "SLOUIE" and left him at the Irish Rose for future guests to use. We will definitely be returning again to make some more memories. Thank you so much.
Beautiful home, tranquil surroundings
Had a great time, quiet, peaceful. Surrounded by mountains, still capped with snow. We caught brook trout in the stream and saw the cow moose a her calf, the bull moose the next night👍🏻. Rich and his family have more movies than Blockbuster, lol
Wonderful place to really escape from it all
We really enjoyed our two night stay at the Irish Rose. It is well stocked and cozy. We had a visit from a bear and saw moose. A nice drive to Breckenridge if you want to see people. The WiFi signal worked okay, but if you are in need of any sort of speed or ability to download/upload, this won’t really be an option and there really is 0 cell service. This was no problem to us, but may be useful to others considering a stay here.
