Please see the same 'Irish Rose' listing under Breckeridge--it has additional photos! Listing number is 13578.

Completed in May 2002, this mountain cabin is located on the historic Mosquito Gulch Trail. Just 15 miles south of Breckenridge, it is the perfect spot for either a secluded get-away or a ski vacation at a fraction of the cost.

Centered on ten acres of pine and aspen, the Irish Rose was designed to accommodate those who want a true Colorado experience. With Mosquito Creek flowing nearby, you will enjoy spectacular views of Pennsylvania and London Mountains as you relax with family and friends. A seven person hot tub sits out front in the location of an old historic mine if you want to relax and enjoy the view from there!

If summer hiking, biking or four-wheeling is your desire, four of Colorado's 14,000 foot peaks are at your doorstep, providing some of the best hiking and driving trails in the world. Tackle the summits of Mount Bross, Mount Democrat, Mount Cameron, and Mount Lincoln... all in a single day!

Gold pan on the local creeks, explore 'Buckskin Joe' trail, and visit the ghost town of Park City. The historic mining towns of Alma and Fairplay are also nearby. Mountain bike to your heart's content or drive the legendary 4x4 'Mosquito Pass' into Leadville. Pick wildflowers and view wildlife--there's something for everyone!

If winter activities are your goal, the beautiful village of Breckenridge is just a short drive north where you can enjoy premier Colorado skiing, dining, and shopping. Keystone, Arapahoe Basin, and Copper Mountain are also close. Or, stay near home and cross-country ski to your heart's content. We have it all!

The Irish Rose was built with families in mind. The main level has a great room with a gas fireplace and floor-to-ceiling windows showcasing the beautiful mountains and trees. It is surrounded by a huge 32 by eight foot wrap-around deck. A full kitchen and dining area are also on this level to create an open, spacious environment. Pets are NOT allowed, No Smoking.

There are two main level bedrooms, one with a queen bed, and one with double bed and trundle geared for up to three kids. The great room sofa also pulls out to a queen-size bed. The master bedroom loft has a queen bed, washer and dryer, along with a small private balcony. There are full baths on both the main level and the loft. The cabin also has a lower level with a private entrance in the back which is occupied by 'Mountain Kay', the landlord. Kay has 30+ years of experience in Park and Summit Counties. She is quiet, very knowledgeable on the local area, and can assist with anything you need. She has two old dogs who will go hiking with you if you like!

Experience the Rocky Mountains in the comfort of the 'Irish Rose.' At over 10,000 foot elevation, it's as close to heaven as you can get!

About Rich

We are a military family who built this home in 2002 and are blessed that we can share it with others!

Rich purchased this cabin in 2002

Why Rich chose South Central Colorado

We have long ties to this part of Colorado. The Irish Rose feels wild and secluded but is close to Alma and Faiplay, and a short drive to the mountain ski town of Breckenridge.

What makes this cabin unique

The Irish Rose has 10 acres of total seclusion with pine, aspen, a river, and amazing views. Many houses on the internet may look similar, but very few properties give you the total Colorado experience. Look at our guestbook and see that it will be a unique and memorable experience!

The Irish Rose Vacation 2013

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at the "Irish Rose" was nothing less than spectacular. The Cabin was well maintained and beautiful, and well equiped with anything you needed. The land that it is on was fun for exploring and hiking or just relaxing by the creek.

The area is centrally located for touring the Royal Gorge, Pikes Peak and Brekenridge, along with other scenic sites.

The people of Alma and Fairplay were friendly and respectful and helpful when looking for directions or information. Our Family would gladly stay at the "Irish Rose" again and again whenever possible.

Thank You for a wonderful place for a wonderful and relaxing vacation.

Our stay from 6/7/16 - 6/11/17

  • 5 of 5

Dear Sweeten Family,

Thank you so much for allowing us to stay at your lovely cabin. Great hospitality! The Irish Rose had everything we needed! From dishware to items we needed to adjust to the altitude. I enjoyed the plot of land it was on. BEAUTIFUL. The river, the mountains and the cabin itself. The view was so breathtaking. I definitely went hiking every morning! The cabin was located in the perfect vicinity to two towns that offered a variety of activities. I must add, that this was my first time in Colorado. It was a great experience. The Irish Rose offered a true Colorado experience. From adventure to food and so much more. I've learned more about Colorado and I really enjoyed how big the state is on preserving nature. Colorado is a self-sustained state and I LOVE IT. I also would like to thank Kay, the handy man (I never got his name) and Lola (the dog). Thank you for guiding us through our trip. It has been

a wonderful trip. One that I won't forget. I'm DEFINITELY coming back here the next time I visit Colorado. You guys have stolen my heart!!!!

Beautiful Property

  • 5 of 5

The property is surrounded by mountains with a stream running through it. If you sleep in the loft, you are greeted with the sight of the mountain and the stream through the floor to ceiling windows as soon as you open yours eyes. My boys loved exploring the 10 acres and throwing stones in to the stream. We visited in early June after the area had received a pretty heavy snow storm a couple of weeks before, so there was still some snow on the ground and the stream was really running hard. I'm sure as the stream slows down later in the summer it would have been nice to wade in to. The hot tub was clean and felt great. Beautiful views from the deck and hot tub. If you like to hike, the Kite Lake trailhead is a short drive away from the cabin. This trailhead gives you access to three 14,000 ft peaks. Unfortunately there was too much snow for us to try, but we went up to the trailhead just to check it out. Mountain Kay was friendly and helpful when we needed her, but just did her own thing and we hardly even noticed she was there. We saw a lot of wildlife around the property - deer everyday, a fox that visits the cabin daily, and we say moose tracks near the stream, but never saw the moose. The cabin was clean and the furnishings were nice and comfortable. The kids loved the vast selection of movies and games available. We felt like we were in the middle of nowhere with no neighbors anywhere close to us, but it was still just a 10 minute drive to Fairplay to get groceries or get Ice Cream at the Silver Scoop Creamery. Its a 30 minute drive to Breckinridge. We drove a little over an hour one morning to ride the Georgetown Loop Railroad. My wife had some altitude sickness, so make sure your are prepared for the elevation. According to the sign going in to Alma, it is the highest incorporated town in North America. Overall, it was a great get away in a beautiful cabin in an amazing setting. We will definitely be coming back when the boys are older and able to tackle one or more of those 14ers.
