La Petite Maison is an elegant, modern, one bedroomed property especially for 2 with french doors, opening directly onto the pool terrace. Wake up to sunlight and shadows playing across your bed. Take an invigorating swim before the world wakes up and then dine al fresco on the terrace.......

It is equipped to a very high standard and the pictures speak for themselves, although we are told the size and beauty of this accommodation is not seen to the full advantage in the photographs.

The property has been furnished to the highest standard, maintaining many of the characteristics of the region including wooden beams and exposed Charentais stonework.

Underfloor central heating is also provided in the property which includes freeview CD and DVD player. All linen and towels, tea towels including pool towels are provided free of charge.

The property is provided with patio tables and chairs for all the gites; they are located on the terrace pool area and in the garden to ensure sun all day and early evening, it's ideal for eating breakfast, lunch and dinner outside. Sun loungers and umbrellas are also provided for the garden and the pool area. Each of the gites is equipped with a barbecue and tools for 'al fresco' dining.

There is also free parking for car

About Ian and Val

Ian and Val both met in the South of France 21 years ago and after living back in the UK and having two children, decided to leave the corporate life behind them to settle in this beautiful area of the Charente, the first region of the Grande Champagne with miles of vineyards and sunflower fields.

Maison du Ruisseau is a beautiful restored Charentaise house dating back to 1838 with a beautifully matured open courtyard garden of wild flowers, lavender, wisteria, jasmine, honeysuckle and a beautiful fig tree.

We took over this business of 3 gites, each with it's quality, charentaise style and individuality, and to increase it's popularity as a home away from home in one of the most beautiful regions of France.

Ian and Val purchased this cottage in 2015

Why Ian and Val chose Malaville

Beautiful gites in the Chateauneuf sur Charente area near Cognac and Angouleme, all private and secluded within the premises with a shared swimming pool. Peaceful location amongst vineyards and fields of sunflowers.

Excellent access from Bordeaux airport and not far from the coast in Royan.

What makes this cottage unique

Maison du Ruisseau is "a real get away from it all location" set in the heart of the Charente. Originally a farmhouse built in 1838, it has been tastefully and lovingly restored by the previous owners maintaining many of the character features of the region and equipped to the highest standard. The 3 gites may be rented individually or as one unit. It is set within a very pretty walled garden with complete privacy. Each property has its own individual style complete with its own terrace. The swimming pool is to the rear of the property and is fitted with a safety alarm in accordance with French law. The Charente is a beautiful unspoilt area of France, set in the heart of the Cognac vineyard region. It is an excellent location to access many of the local towns and surrounding areas. The landscape is rich and varied with acres of sunflowers and vines. Cognac is 30 min. drive where you can visit many of the famous distilleries. Or, the picturesque vineyards of St Emilion which are a pleasant hours drive away. There is also the picturesque town of Angouleme with its impressive views and lots of shops in its historic centre.

  • The large double bedroom in La Petit Maison is modern but has been restored to an excellent standard keeping the charm of the original exposed stone walls which have defined features throughout the apartment. The furniture is finished with a modern oak bedframe and matching wardrobe and drawer unit. The light comes in through a set of french doors that open out to the pool area where you can relax or take an early morning dip..

Very attractive gite,excellent facilities and very friendly welcome

Very peaceful and relaxing stay,all facilities were excellent and a very warm welcome,the welcome pack of various cheeses,wine etc was most useful.I would recommend to anyone with no hesitation.

A excellent week's holiday among the vineyards

The owners Valerie and Ian are very welcoming. They are charming and helpful hosts.

There are extensive grounds to amble around. The apartment is very well appointed and exactly fits the description. It was clean and well maintained and is well equipped for those wishing to self cater.

The pool is well maintained and first rate for having lunch beside or just lounging around with a book.

The area is very rural and ideal for a quiet restful holiday with plenty of walks surrounded by vineyards. There is plenty of information on local towns and restaurants.

Cognac close by with some very fine restaurants and St Emillion is near enough for a trip to buy some fine wines.

We would highly recommend the accommodation and we have every intention of returning ourselves.

+ £100 reduction for 2 week bookings.( Excluding Special Promotions/Offers etc.)
+ Bookings are normally from Saturday to Saturday.
+ Arrival is from 1600h and Departure from 1000h.
+ Payment of deposit reserves your holiday.
+ Receipt of your deposit will be seen as accepting our booking terms and conditions as laid out on our ‘Booking Conditions’ page which we ask you to read.
+ Full payment is required 8 weeks before your arrival
+ A returnable security deposit of £200 is required with your final payment and will be returned to you within 2 weeks of the end of your holiday.
+ A small cash charge for cleaning is required of 30 euros at the end of your stay before departure.
+ Out of high season we are happy to negotiate arrival and departure times
+ You must make you own arrangements for holiday insurance

  • 50% refund if canceled at least 30 days before arrival date.
  • 100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
