About the property

Rhiwelli sits in four acres of sloping grounds on the northern flanks of the Preseli Hills. The panoramic sea views are breath-taking on a sunny day from the patio and terraced lawns in front of the cottage. The steep northerly slopes are covered with deciduous woodland and the land to the west and south is covered with natural vegetation, including bracken, grasses and wild flowers. The all-weather lane to the cottage is steep but easily driven and there is ample parking for at least four cars with a large turning area. The cottage lies on an almost flat terrace with easy, all weather access around it. A National Park viewpoint is situated on the northern slopes of the Preseli Hills some distance above this beautiful detached character cottage.

The property has retained many period features with exposed and painted stonework to the interior, an open plan double height sitting room, galleried landing, exposed beams and joists and an inglenook fireplace with wood burning stove.

The village of Dinas Cross, a village of about 600 inhabitants sits deep below the cottage and nestles within the steep slopes of the Dinas Mountain. There are two beautiful beaches nearby where there is safe bathing and boating. There are many local walks with scenic routes over the mountain to the Gwaun Valley and the Preseli Hills beyond.

Wander around Castell Henllys Iron Age Fort which are Iron Age roundhouses rebuilt on the foundations of a hill fort. Situated above a wooded landscape that leads to a beautiful river valley below where there is an exhibition area and café.

Special Events in the Area

Fishguard International Music Festival – A week long programme of classical and jazz music events held in July.

Aberjazz, Fishguard – A varied programme from Courtney Pine to the Tin Pan Band in a number of venues from cafes to pubs and concert venues held in August.

New Years Eve – This is a live music celebration in Fishguard Square, which is recognised as one of the top ten in the UK. The event is suitable for families.

St David's Cathedral Music Festival – Various classical music events are held in the Cathedral. It is usually held in late May or early June.

Fishguard Folk Festival – Various folk music events are held throughout the town, usually over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend.

Pembrokeshire County Show – Held at Havorfordwest in mid- August, this is the second largest show in Wales. Although it is agriculturally based, there are many trade and craft stands and some activities for children. It is not possible to see it all in one day.

Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Coastal Path – the coastal path is one mile from the cottage – there are six walks around Dinas Cross described in leaflets which are available in the cottage. The National Park Centre in Newport will provide further information.

Dinas Mountain and Carn Ingli – there are a number of public paths and walks available on Dinas Mountain which start at Pen Rhiwelli Viewpoint above the cottage – leaflets are available in the cottage.

Newport, Nevern and the Gwaun Valley – there are scenic walks in the Newport, Nevern and Gwaun Valley areas and woodland walks at Tycanol between Newport and Nevern. Information is available at the National Park Centre in Newport.
