4 bedroom (3 en-suite), sleeps 8, wood burner, ideal for walking or relaxation
Set off the beaten track on a private country estate, Bramley Cottage sits in a wonderful spot amidst a stunning rural landscape with nothing but the odd passing tractor to interrupt the view. Here guests can enjoy leisurely walks from the doorstep, explore the picturesque towns and rich history of the Borderlands to the north, or enjoy the fantastic woodland trails and brilliant dark skies of the Kielder Forest Park to the south.
With four double bedrooms (3 en-suite, 2 ground-floor), the cottage has been completely refurbished throughout to provide flexible accommodation for friends and families to retreat, relax, entertain or enjoy the great outdoors. Decorated in a pretty country cottage style, the sitting room is intimate and cosy, the bedrooms crisp and fresh, while a modern galley kitchen provides all the essentials for holiday living.
A separate dining room/sitting room with wood burning stove is furnished in a superb shooting lodge style and is a wonderful space for get-togethers or more formal entertaining, with the option of privately catered services for that special celebration, shooting or fishing parties or perhaps just a little holiday pampering.
The property sits on the Edgerston Estate just south of Jedburgh and its position will appeal to peaceful relaxers, walkers, cyclists and country sports enthusiasts who will be able to take full advantage of its position in acres of open countryside. Today it operates as a private shooting estate and working farm.
For larger parties, the property can also be let in conjunction with adjoining Braeburn Cottage (two bedroom) which combined can offer accommodation for 12 guests. Nearby Stotfield (three bedroom) provides accommodation for a further 5 guests if required.
Despite its rural position, Bramley Cottage has good amenities close by and is incredibly well positioned for exploring attractions north and south of the border. The historic market town of Jedburgh with its magnificent 12th century abbey ruins, sits just 6 miles from the cottage where you will find a good selection of shops, supermarkets, restaurants, cafes and pubs as well as a leisure pool, fitness centre, small dry ski slope and 18 hole golf course.
Spend a cultural afternoon here and follow in the footsteps of Bonnie Prince Charlie, Sir Walter Scott, Robert Burns and William Wordsworth all of whom walked its ancient streets, or visit the 16th century bastel house of Mary Queen of Scots or the fascinating 1820 Castle Jail.
The main A.68 allows easy access to the picturesque towns across the area, including the city attractions of Edinburgh and Newcastle - just an hour’s drive each way.

Family get together
Booked for a family get together, a first, eight adults one infant. Weather was not too kind with overcast skies and snow (yellow weather warning) on a few days, apart from one day when blue sky and sunny. However didn’t make much difference - cottage was very very nice, done to a very high standard. We appreciated the lovely warm bathrooms, thick towels and log fires. There is a large dining table with lounge at end featuring two large settees for everybody to gather round. Beautiful part of the country. Made to feel very welcome. We went up to the farm to see the lambs, pigs and my daughters favourite, the Highland cattle. The Co-op in Jedburgh has a good selections of food, if you want larger stores there is a very large Tesco and a large Asda in nearby Galashiels. For a day out to Edinburgh go to Tweedbank and take the train, worth it for the journey alone. Would have liked to have done some walking but too muddy, will have to go back. Very helpful and nice housekeepers who responded quickly to our queries. Highly recommended.
