Quirky, luxurious, filled with creature comfort and full of character.
About Karen Esland
Jason and I are British school teachers and we have three children. We bought Casa Menta so we can enjoy the beautiful countryside and wonderful people of Marche in our school holidays. As we have animals we need to look after we can't yet come out to Casa Menta as often as we would like. We decided that it would be better to enable other people to come and enjoy this beautiful part of the world. Our house manager Patrizia and her husband Giancarlo will look after you wonderfully in our absence and help with anything you need. As we have just bought the property, some of these photos will be updated soon so you can see just what a special house this is. We hope you enjoy visiting as much as we do.
Karen Esland purchased this Farmhouse in 2016
Why Karen Esland chose Sant'Angelo in Pontano
Casa Menta is truly unique. Beautifully restored and set on three levels, it is far from the typical farmhouse feel that other properties offer. It is quirky and full of character. It has many original features like the old wooden beams and brickwork but has many contemporary touches too.
What makes this Farmhouse unique
The house has amazing views, a wonderful pool and is walking distance to the friendly local town where you can easily pop for a coffee or ice cream.
Check-in: 4:00 PM
Check-out: 10:00 AM
It is difficult for toddlers due to all the steps
Umbrellas must be put down around the pool when unattended. Expensive breakages have resulted from not doing so.

An Oasis With Breathtaking Views
From the moment we parked our car, smelled the wonderful country air, sidestepped the abundant lavender and entered the courtyard of 'Casa Menta' taking in the view that never stopped to amaze us, we knew we would spend three weeks of heaven in this magical place. The photographs do not do it justice. The house is full of charm and very tastefully furnished. The kitchen is spacious with all the modern amenities, including a Nespresso machine and a pantry that was so well stocked when we arrived, I was speechless. For people who have difficulties with stairs, the house might be a challenge since there are three floors and some steep steps. We were definitely very happy to have one of the three toilets (2 are on the third floor) on the first (ground) floor. The outdoor dining area is absolutely lovely and the sitting area just outside the kitchen is cool during the hottest hours. The pool is located below the house and is reached via a walkway with several steps in a couple of minutes--the location is beautiful and very private. Sant'Angelo in Pontano, the little town just a few minutes drive away provides all the necessities--we especially loved the COAL Supermarket. The Internet functioned flawlessly the entire time and the housekeeper Patrizia who lives close by was always available but very mindful of our privacy Anyone who is looking for a quiet, restful vacation away from it all--this is the place.
A little gem!
Casa menta is a tastefully renovated property in a wonderful location.Highly recommended !!
Peaceful with stunning scenery.
We loved Casa Menta. The house itself is quite quirky in its layout, but that is part of its charm.
It is in a lovely location, very quiet, but within easy reach of Sant Angelo in Pontano the nearest hill town. There you can find most things you would need. The local supermarket is very well stocked, and the staff very welcoming, especially the lady at the delicatessen, who was very helpful.
There are beautiful places to visit, but would recommend an automatic car to avoid lots of gear changes.
The house is very well equipped. Plenty of everything, especially for cooking and dining.
We were a little unlucky with the weather, having a few thunderstorms, but we were there middle of September.
A perfect property to relax and get away from it all
From the moment we arrived, Casa Menta was all we had expected and more. From the location (close enough to the medieval village for easy access to all amenities, while far enough away for seclusion, total peace and quiet and views over the valley and mountains to die for) to the facilities of the house itself (tastefully decorated and full of charm and character, Karen and Jason really have thought of everything that makes a stay special - the photos show exactly what to expect but we were surprised by how spacious it feels; with eating and seating areas inside and out, there is plenty of space for everyone.) The locals were charming and understood our stumbling Italian, especially the baker (fabulous cakes) and supermarket staff. The local towns such as Fermo and Sarnano are full of character (and gelato) and the fabulous beach at Porto Giorgio is only an hour away. The wonderful pool was well-used during our stay, being a good size, beautifully maintained and perfect for cooling off from the Italian heat. Giancarlo timed his visit to check the pool and garden to preserve our privacy, but was available should we need his help - we didn't. Sitting outside under one of the loggias in the cool of the early mornings and evenings was absolute heaven. Book a holiday here and you won't be disappointed - we have already booked for next year.
great place, very nice and tidy and good service
great experience - fine upfront communication with the houseowner - meet by a helpful and very kind housekeeper on arrival - the house and the surroundings are very nice and tidy and the Pictures are for real - booked the chef for an evening dinner, great food and service - nice area
A lovely Villa in the hills near a village and a fantastic view. What more could you want!
Casa Menta is a lovely villa far enough away from the village (15 min walk) of Sant'Angelo in Potano to feel you have escaped the "rat run" but close enough for any provisions required and also some well recommended restaurants.
We enjoyed a lovely, relaxing and memorable holiday in a wonderful property, full of character with a mix of rustic Italian features and also some "home comforts"
We flew from Bristol and the drive from Rome was longer than we anticipated as we took the "A" roads up to Terni and not the Motorway, but this enabled us to experience the Italian countryside from Rome to, almost, the Adriatic coast.
We have already recommended this Villa to a family relative and they have booked a vist in the Autumn. We would happily visit Casa Menta again in any season. In addition to the usual Summer benefits (pool and outside meals) we imagine it would be quite snug in the Winter (open fire)!
