The solid oak front door leads into an impressive York Stone hallway with an elegant staircase and galleried landing. There are two sitting rooms, 1 large more formal drawing room with large Inglenook and woodburner plus a cosy “Gun Room”, wood panelled with open fire. About The Owner

Waterside Manor has been a happy family home for many years, and benefits from an unrivalled position on the edge of the most beautiful lake. I have often thought it a shame not to be enjoyed by more. In July 2015 the doors were open for weekends/weeks for family gatherings, birthdays, holidays etc. It is going from strength to strength, and I have been touched by all the wonderful comments in the visitor's book.

Why The Owner chose Wadhurst

Completely unique setting in the South-East of England.

13 miles of walks & cycling at the end of the drive with outstanding views of the lake and countryside.

Private but easily accessible

What makes this chateau / country house unique

Being so close to London and with excellent access by car via A21 or train to Waterloo, Charing Cross, London Bridge & Cannon Street it lends itself for Company teambuilding days, with fishing, quad biking, clay pigeon shooting, golf, spa, sailing, kayaking, cycling etc all within 10 minutes or less.

The dining room makes an ideal board room for meetings and with all reception rooms & terraces having views of the lake it has a calm & thought provoking ambience.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Most of us didn’t know what to expect but Waterside house couldn’t have been more perfect for our group having a pre-Christmas long weekend gathering We are 15 old friends and new, mainly couples between 50 and 70. Our leaders had been very organized and made a great choice of venue as well as planning a curry night on Friday, black tie Christmas dinner on Saturday and a group walk to the Old Vine pub, with dogs, for Sunday lunch.

The house is superbly situated by the lake with several different walks through woods, fields and around the waterside. We would plan to go boating and fishing when the weather is warmer. It is also very handy for visiting any number of National Trust and other properties open to the public such as Chartwell and Batemans.

The kitchen, fully equipped for catering, leads seamlessly into the dining area and so there is plenty of room to stand around while some of us were preparing food.! The utility room is useful for muddy boots. There are two lovely sitting rooms so TV watchers (or children) can be happily separated from those who prefer to read the weekend papers in peace! The games room and table football were well used too.

We enjoyed beautiful misty sunrises and glorious sunsets over Bewl water. The outside area is wonderful. We were blessed with good weather and sitting on the patio in the morning sun you could almost believe it was summer.

The bedrooms varied in size considerably in size but all were warm and well equipped. Thank you for decorating the house so attractively for Christmas! The panelled hall with a huge Christmas tree was a great area for photos!

All in all a great weekend. We are already planning a return visit. Thank you.

Wonderful house and setting, perfect for a special occasion

  • 5 of 5

The house although hidden away from it all is really close to Wadhurst station. The views are stunning from almost all rooms. The beds are comfy and facilities fantastic. The house is more than well equipped and spacious. The games room was a big hit. The walks from the house are a delight. Fabulous stay overall. Coming back in the summer. Laura

Stunning lakeside manor house

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful property in a lovely setting on the edge of Bewl Water, perfect for a family weekend of 18 adults. Loads of living space downstairs with several lounges, games room and a huge kitchen and dining room. Bedrooms all impressive with some of the rooms as big as an apartment! Great location for walking or cycling around the lake. Plenty of parking and a really peaceful spot, the hot tub must have one of the best views in SE England.

A beautifully presented and 'homey' house with wonderful space, decor and outstanding views.

  • 5 of 5

A fabulous venue for a large group, the dining hall and kitchen/diner really lent itself to easy, family living. The bedrooms were wonderfully presented, clean, tidy, cosy and warm. Having the use of the hot-tub, football table, pool and table-tennis was the perfect mix of entertainment - we didn't need the TV! The inglenook fireplace in the main sitting lounge was a wonderful focal point and we enjoyed cosy evenings gathered in there playing card games and socialising. It's a lovely quiet, tranquil place to retreat to with some lovely places to visit nearby. A must-see is Scotney Castle - in the holidays, get there as it opens at 10am (check-times) as parking is a bit limited and it does get busy. The owner, Helen Hulme-Kendall could not have been more helpful and we thank her for allowing us to enjoy her beautiful home.

Dream Stay

  • 5 of 5

I've been in more expensive houses, and I've been in grander houses, but I'd stll choose this place over those. The peaceful and tranquil seclusion, the character and uniqueness of the place whilst still maintaining a cosy and homely feel, the flow of the rooms as you move around it, this property really has it all.

We had almost 20 of us here as a family gathering over a long weekend and all of us unanimously agreed we would happily stay there again. If there was any element of the place that didn't quite score top marks it was the mattress in the main bedroom. It was a standard double and quite bouncy so my partner and I would wake each other up every time the other moved in their sleep. Everyone else in the other rooms were happy with their mattresses. Overall a fantastic place which would suit any occasion or individual.

Absolutely amazing property- thephotos don't do it justice!

  • 5 of 5

Excellent facilities and the property is fantastic for groups. The property is vast, and so there is plenty of room to spread out in- boys watching sport in the Gun Room and girls in the hot tub!

Excellent cooking facilities and dining room big enough for everyone to enjoy the fruits of their labour. An excellent butchers nearby in Wadhurst too.

The house is perfect for walks in the country (with pubs not too far!) or for relaxing in the gardens with stunning views over Bewl Water.

We all had a great time, and would happily recommend.
