Why The Owner chose Milatos

We have always loved the Greek islands and decided to settle in Crete in 2008. We had previously visited Milatos during a holiday and fell in love with it. It is a traditional Greek village, and our house location is idyllic. The villa offers modern, comfortable facilities to enjoy a great vacation, with the added advantage of your own private swimming pool. The views overlooking the sea and mountains are stunning.

What makes this villa unique

Within easy reach of Heraklion airport, local towns and villages. Modern, well equipped villa with its own swimming pool. Near beach, tavernas and bars. Views over the sea and local countryside. Short walk from Milatos cave. Ample private parking.

An oasis of calm and luxury

  • 5 of 5

This was, without exception, the most amazing villa I have stayed in. And I always book villas, never hotels. Not only is it incredibly well appointed, very comfortable beds, got an amazing pool and all the facilities you could possibly want, it has absolutely stunning views and some fabulous tavernas 5mins drive away. The cherry on the cake was the availability, knowledge and attention to detail of the owners, David and Lindi. They went out of their way to ensure we had a restful and perfect holiday. They provided a comprehensive pack of information on shops, tavernas, instructions for all the appliances etc which was invaluable, and even gave us a lift home from dinner on our first night! Milatos, and this villa in particular, was perfect. We will certainly be back. Thank you David and Lindi!

Beautiful villa, stunning views

  • 5 of 5

Villa Elia surpassed all our expectations - it's beautifully appointed and very spacious, and the views from the balconies and from the pool area are amazing at any time of the day.

The villa is about 20 mins walk from Milatos (which has two tavernas) and a little further from Milatos Beach which has many more.

A car is essential, as the facilities, beaches etc are some way away - but this opens up the wonderful Cretan scenery for you to discover.

We loved our stay here, and I'd like to thank David and Lindi for thinking of everything possible to make our stay memorable

Hi spec Villa in a beautiful setting.

  • 5 of 5

Villa Elia is situated halfway up a small mountain and overlooks the sea and olive groves. David and Lindi could not have been more friendly and accommodating - we even took them out to dinner to thank them for their hospitality!

Villa Elia is very well presented and kitted out with all cleaning/kitchen products etc. Even comes with a cat called Pip! Great swimming pool complete with shower. The local roads once you leave the main E75 are quite wiggly, but you get used to them and it always seems worth it once you arrive back at beautiful Villa Elia.

There are 5 or 6 nice tavernas in Milatos beach, but the beach itself is pebbly so you will end up in Sissi or Malia (Potamos Beach is good).

What to do:

Milatos Cave, then keep going up the mountain to the taverna in Kounali - it's wonderful.

Agios Nicolaos is a good place to eat/swim/wander about

We did a boat trip/BBQ to Spinalonga Island from Elounda

Lassithi Plateau + Zeus Cave!

Spectacular Views with Spacious Accommodation

  • 5 of 5

Villa Elia is the perfect place for a relaxing “getaway” with spectacular views and tasteful modern spacious accommodation.

David and Lindi, the owners, met us on arrival and showed us around our accommodation. They were both a font of local knowledge having lived in Crete for many years.

We booked for a week at the end of September and hired a car so we could explore the surrounding Cretan towns and villages. Crete is quite hilly so unless you are a mountain goat or like walking uphills we would recommend hiring a car. The car hire rates are very reasonable, especially late in the season and give you the opportunity to explore the scenic coast and mountains locally. Cretans are famous for their welcoming smiles and warm hospitality and there are many local tavernas within walking distance. Milatos is a local fishing port nearby with numerous excellent tavernas overlooking the sea specialising in freshly caught seafood and local Cretan dishes.

Although there were only two of us Villa Elia can comfortably accommodate at least 6 in the three spacious bedrooms. The master bedroom was particularly impressive with modern en-suite bathroom and sliding windows leading onto a terrace giving a fabulous panorama. The other two bedrooms (one double and the other with twin beds) were on a lower floor and also had equally impressive and lovely sea views. These two bedrooms shared a spacious bathroom with a ‘wet room’ shower. The separate large utility room had a washer and dryer.

The living room/dining area/kitchen was a large family open plan area with modern “L” shaped settee, six seater dining table and well equipped European kitchen. The combination of the vaulted ceiling and large sliding double glazed doors leading onto the front terrace gave a feeling of bringing the panorama into your room when fully opened.

From the living room you can walk onto the side terrace with the swimming pool, Cretan pots, umberellas and recliners for those sun worshippers that would rather be lounge lizards with a good book and cool drink to pass the time away!

We spent most of our time exploring the local countryside during the day, enjoying a sundowner on the terrace as the sunset followed by a meal in the friendly local Milatos tavernas.

Overall an excellent location and family friendly accommodation that we would fully recommend to future guests.

Thanks especially to David and Lindi for their warm welcome, local advice on the sites.

Perfect peace.......glorious tranquility.....

  • 5 of 5

My partner and I stayed for a week this summer at this wonderful house and we absolutely loved it! Perfectly positioned on the mountainside with breathtaking views down over the olive fields to the bluest of seas beyond, beautifully appointed and furnished, privacy and peace was the ultimate chill-out and recharge holiday..unsurpassed.

There is a dining area on the balcony adjacent to the kitchen, perfect for breakfast and watching the eagles and buzzards cruising overhead, or dinner when you can sit and gaze at the stars - no light pollution here - we saw so many shooting stars we lost count! We spent our days in total relaxation, beside the pool or on the balcony, reading or just being hypnotised by the incredible views.

The house is easy to get to from Heraklion Airport, fantastic directions from the owners. A car is necessary of course, there are some super tavernas and bars in the village of Milatos some 10 minutes or so away, and the bigger towns of Malia and Aghios Nikolaos offer great supermarket shopping for essential supplies.

If you are looking for a get-away-from-it-all place to stay, then look no further, we cannot recommend this house more highly and will definitely book again. Absolute heaven!

Stunning, welcoming and a great stay!

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic stay at Villa Elia. The views were stunning, especially whilst having breakfast on the balcony or enjoying the sunset with a cold drink, perfect! Had lots of relaxation lounging by the private pool, which was an added bonus for the kids! The house was immaculate and very well equipped with lovely bright, spacious rooms. Very handy having the quaint village of Milatos just a hop, skip and a jump away with a great selection of tavernas and cafes and having the addition of the beach within walking distance was again a superb plus with stunning crystal clear water. Couldn’t ask for more and we’ll definitely be making a return visit. Thank you
