Cosy barn in peaceful location with enclosed garden, dog friendly
Swallow Barn is a converted barn adjacent to our very special 16th century timber framed house. We have converted the barn to a high specification, taking into account our favourite bits of all the holiday lets we have stayed in over the years. We aim to create a sense of cosiness without loss of practicality. The barn affords lovely views over the field and is light and airy. In winter months the wood burner adds a welcoming glow to curl up with.
Swallow Barn's unique feature is that it is in a very special position overlooking open fields. It has its' own garden which is a haven for wildlife. We commonly see a variety of birds and deer walk through our meadow.
We are big dog lovers and own 2 rescue dogs, we are happy to accept well behaved dogs. We have a cat who is dog friendly to dogs who know how to treat him!
Dog guests will be able to share the use of our 2acre field behind the house. Please note owners will need to bring their own dog bed and bedding.

About Rosie at Swallow Barn
I live in rural Suffolk surrounded by fields and wildlife. I am passionate about dogs and enjoy walking, painting and drawing.
Rosie at Swallow Barn purchased this Barn in 2012
Why Rosie at Swallow Barn chose Bury St Edmunds
Thank you for your interest in Swallow Barn situated in rural Suffolk. A one bedroom holiday let for 2 people (and children < 24 months), designed for real country lovers and those seeking a much needed retreat from the pressures of daily life. Swallow Barn is an individual, listed barn in the heart of the Suffolk countryside in the village of Wyverstone. We are based approximately 20 mins from the historic town of Bury St Edmunds and Stowmarket with good rail links to London and other major cities. The impressive Suffolk coastline is also only an hour's drive away. There is a village shop and pub a 5 minute drive away or a 15 minute walk. Having stayed at many a holiday let over the years, we know how hard it can be to find decent accommodation that combines a sense of cosiness with practicality. We have therefore tried to include all our favourite things about holiday lets into just one place. Imagine lying in a blissfully comfortable bed whilst looking up at the stars or, sitting in a garden overlooking a peaceful meadow, watching the swallows duck and dive in the summer months, truly magical. Being dog lovers with a history of taking rescues, we have never felt comfortable with leaving them behind when we go on holiday. For this reason we are happy to welcome well behaved canine friends to the barn. The barn comes with its own enclosed garden and guests can also enjoy shared access to our field overlooking the property which is perfect for ball games. We look forward to welcoming you to this special place.

Arrived at swallow barn to a very warm welcome from the lovely rosie!
Soya milk for us (we are vegan), and treats for. Amber our dog! The cottage was scrupulously clean, and very homely and cosy. Fluffy towels, gorgeously comfy bed and everything else needed for a comfortable stay.
The garden of swallow barn was also lovely. A gate led to more garden which led to a.meadow.....absolutely gorgeous.

A really quiet, relaxing stay in a cosy, comfortable barn conversion. Good base for exploring the Suffolk countryside.
Many thanks to you both for your lovely review. We hope to see you again.
Another visit to Swallow Barn - & we loved it again!
My wife and I, together with our two dogs, had our second super holiday in Swallow Barn over Easter week 2018 - we first stayed there over Easter week in 2017.
The Barn conversion is lovely - cosy, comfortable, has plenty of character and is very well maintained. The owners Rosie and Richard are very welcoming, friendly and available should you need any help or advice.
The enclosed rear garden and the easily accessible 2 acre field are great if you do have dogs, our Labrador and young Cocker Spaniel both loved having access to the field, as well as going on the many and varied walks that we enjoyed during our stay - the best of these was Knettishall Heath (we walked there twice), Flatford Mill plus Aldeburgh and Dunwich beaches to mention a few. There is also a network of public footpaths that start just a stone’s throw from the barn that are very nice.
Plenty of pub's with good food are within a very short drive, our favourites were the Blue Boar in Walsham-le-Willows, The Norton Dog in Norton and the Trowel & Hammer in Cotton (all three are 'dog friendly'). For a REALLY nice meal go to The Leaping Hare at Wyken Vineyard on a Friday or Saturday evening (about £50 per head for a 3 course meal plus a couple of drinks each, but the food is superb and the service is excellent).
For a quiet, relaxing and very enjoyable break Swallow Barn is highly recommended!!!!
