Spacious bright and luxurious property with stunning views at any time of year.
Pier House is located in one of the most photographed and iconic corners of this beautiful town down on the southern tip of Cornwall. On leaving the house, you step out into one of the oldest parts of this historic town, a rustic conservation area nestled between Bamaluz beach and the sheltered harbour beach and just a stones throw from the waters edge. Inside the house you have stunning panoramic views across the harbour and of St Ives Bay with its ever changing colours, its sparkling blue and mesmerising waters. It is located in the perfect position, close to all the beautiful beaches this town is fortunate to have on its doorstep and has a real seaside atmosphere situated amongst the old fisherman cottages that line the narrow cobbled streets.
Pier House has accomodation set over 3 floors with its entrance door off the cobbled street adjacent to Smeatons Pier. It is sat above a small Italian cafe run by a young Italian couple who offer fresh home made food and and true Italian coffee. Very artisan. However Pier House has the space and light of a large townhouse and is bright and airy with a state of the art kitchen and two living rooms. The very top floor has a unique feeling of relaxation with sunlight flooding the room all day from its three aspects. Its views are unsurpassed in St Ives.
Pier House is within easy walking distance of all the restaurants and galleries of the town and the famous Porthmoer surfing beach with its crashing surf which is overlooked by The Tate. It is also very close to the more tranquil beaches of Porthgwidden, Bamaluz and the delightful harbour beach, a really lovely sheltered little beach great for families and sunbathers alike.
Pier House is in the heart of it all so it is easy to be part of the buzzing seaside life or hop in to your own little sanctuary where you can observe it all going on. Push up the sash windows and let the summer sunshine in or cosy up by the fire with a glass of wine. Whether a large family or a couple, Pier House is the ideal luxury holiday accomodation.
Our accomodation features:
Front door with small hallway and carpeted stairs to first floor. Washroom off.
Open plan living/kitchen/dining area with 4 large sash windows. Beautifully equipped kitchen with siemens gas hob, built in oven and combination oven/microwave. Dishwasher washing machine, fridge and separate freezer.

Testimonials from previous visitors.
We absolutely loved Pier House - what a gorgeous property in a perfect location, beautifully furnished with everything you could need. We don't want to leave. St Ives still magical on our 6th visit, but weather rather interesting this week!! We can't wait to come back to Pier House - we have found our perfect property in our favourite place - see you next year.

Had a fantastic family holiday in Pier House. Love St Ives anyway but usually stay over the other side of the harbour. Loved having the harbour beach on our doorstep, great for the little ones. The layout of the house was great with the attic room a real treat! We were treated to amazing weather too, which was very welcome but totally unexpected. Full marks too for the beds which were very comfy. Great natural mattresses, I have had to purchase one myself. Very clean, beautiful colours on the walls too. Thank you.
The Whittaker and Oliver families
Fabulous house. It's been our 5th year in St Ives and this has been the best accomodation with the best views we have ever had.
The Howells family from Warickshire
Spectacular views and lovely weather. Really enjoyed our week in St Ives. Loved the house and the girls especially enjoyed the beautiful attic room.
The Somerville family.
Our father grew up in St Ives (Charleswood) and we have been returning and renting cottages (as a family) for the last 60 years!!! Nothing has compared to this! It's light, modern, roomy, relaxing and wonderfully central. Thank you so much and we'd love to return.

Pier House is amazing, we had a truly delightful stay! As a St Ives girl I wanted the best possible place to bring my friends for the first time - this was definitely it. Every detail and personal touch was much appreciated (thanks for sorting the scorching sun all week too) We know the family who owned the house and shop many years ago - they would love what has been achieved with the house - the spirit of this beautiful town house been well and truly preserved. Many thanks.

About Ali Peploe
We love St Ives and have been coming here for 30 years and in more recent years with our 3 daughters and their friends. We bought Pier House in 2006 and spent a year working on it. We have restored the house with traditional products and methods. All the paint we used on woodwork and walls was Farrow and Ball, distemper paint to walls giving a traditional finish which is breathable. The original wood flooring was lime washed to give a seaside feel and the tiles in the bathrooms are tumbled marble. In more recent months we have taken off the outside pebble dash and rerendered in a traditional lime mortar which is breathable. We love the house and position and hope that we can share it with as many people as we can and that our guests that stay will love it as much as we do. We welcome any queries from our guests either before or during their stay. We have been letting Pier House as a holday home successfully now for the last 9 years through an agent and have now decided we would like have more contact with our guests and manage it ourselves.
Ali Peploe purchased this Apartment in 2005
Why Ali Peploe chose St Ives
We fell in love with the location of this house and the views it offers especially from the attic room. The twinkly lights in the harbour at night are very restful and the views throughout the day stunning but equally you are warm and snug should the wind blow and and the weather turn which it does!! It is so easy to get to all the beautiful locations, galleries, beaches, restaurants and bars but what is also a pleasure is you are in the oldest part of St Ives so wherever your journey takes you, you go through the oldest of cobbled streets.

Wonderful property in a great location!
We had a great time at Pier House with our 3 children aged 5, 8 and 10.
The property has great character and has been decorated in a style that makes it a very relaxing place to hang out at the end of the day.
The location is perfect and the kids loved having the beach on the doorstep and it was great not to have to use the car in the evenings (though make sure you book a table if eating out in St Ives). Breakfast at Searoom just a few doors down was fab and became a bit of a habit!
It was also a great base to explore further afield with plenty of amazing beaches around and we also loved our visit to the theatre on the cliffside at Minnack Theatre - highly recommended!
All in all a fab holiday and a very relaxing stay at Pier House.
Thank you Nick and family for your great review. So glad you had a lovely stay and enjoyed everything the area has to offer. Its a great house and as you say in a perfect location - we love it there too. Thank you for being great guests. It was a pleasure having you and your family to stay and hope we will be able to welcome you again in the future.
Wonderful location and lovely house.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely house.
Whilst a car isnt really necessary in St Ives there are so many wonderful places to visit that it would be an added bonus if even for one day you left the town and ventured further out onto the moors and beyond. Penzance is an interesting town to wonder with its lovely gardens and on the outskirts is Pendeen House which is set in tropical gardens and has an ever changing Art Exhibition. There is the recently built Tremenheere Sculpture Garden just on the outskirts too that has a great little cafe looking down towards St Michaels Mount. Talking of which - St Michaels Mount the fairy tale Castle on the top of Mount cut off by water during high tide is a National Trust property but a great day out. Accessible by boat at all other times. Porthcurno a little further on from Penzance has a perfect sandy beach with lovely coastal scenery. On the north side there is Sennen Cove with its crashing waves and more sandy beaches. All these places are about 7 miles from St Ives. These places are a must for us as a family when we are down enjoying all that this area has to offer. In winter they are still worth visiting as the seasons have something different to add. Wrapped up warm with the wind and often sunshine, its exhilerating walking the beaches and moors. Another favourite of ours is a trip out to Zennor on a cold winters day followed by lunch at The Tinners Arms, a lovely old pub that still feels local. Also worth a visit, Geevor Tin Mines which until 1990 was a working mine. Poldark Mine near Helston where all of the underground sequences were filmed for the 2015 series for the BBC. There is Lands End Visitors Centre, Gweek Seal Sanctuary near Helston, Trebah Gardens near Falmouth, a tropical paradise, Cornish Riding Holidays near Redruth, Perranporth Beach - in fact so much to do. An animal park at Hayle called Paradise Park with over 650 animals and an indoor junglebarn play centre. However there is so much within walking distance too of Pier House. An art course at St Ives School of painting? They offer life drawing drop in classes on a wednesday evening and a saturday morning, or a longer course - so many to choose from. Lunch at The Sloop, apparently built in the 14th Century and still frquented by the locals at certain times! St Ives was born from its small fishing community that was based around the harbour which is where Pier House is situated. It really is a perfect location to enjoy all this area has to offer. Car parking Regarding parking there is no parking space with our property but there is space on Smeatons Pier by the slipway to load and offload very close to Pier House. The closest parking is actually on Smeatons Pier but means a twice daily metre payment as an overnight charge and a day charge. Very close by with a scenic coastal walk of minutes is The Island Car Park and for this car park you can buy a weekly ticket or a rover ticket which means within the Penrith Council area you can use the same ticket. (Please check all details of this on the Penwith Council website under car parking as things can change)

We prefer to let out our property for at least 7 nights as demand is very high, from a friday to friday. During peak season which tends to be longer in St Ives than most holiday locations in the UK we need to keep the calendar friday to friday but in early spring late autumn we can be more flexible. However, as our costs are quite high bedding welcome pack cleaner etc we would need to let out at least 4 nights to make the let viable. We are available to discuss this with you if you wish to book an alternative period. Please do get in touch.
