1 bedroom,1 bath and sleeper sofa, large dock and float, a real Maine Cottage
Why Lisa Burnham chose Boothbay Harbor
In 1974 my parents were looking for a nice place to raise their family. They both had grown up on Lobster Cove Road. My father was a second generation lobster man. The property was perfect. They built our home across the street and began to expand the small existing dock to accommodate his lobster traps and fishing gear. For many years, he would build his own lobster traps in his work shop, which has now been completely renovated into Lobster Cove Cottage. My two teenage sons, forth generation lobster men, continue to fish their traps in the cove, (you may have a chance to see them). During the winter the dock is still used by six lobster men to store their traps and gear. My father built the dock with the help of his friends so other lobster men would continue to have access to the shore. I welcome the opportunity to share this wonderful cottage and the real Maine experience with visitors to the Boothbay Region.
What makes this Cottage unique
This could be the opportunity of a lifetime to witness a real Maine working waterfront in action. Before the first week in June, the lobster men will be working on, preparing and setting their gear in preparation for the lobster fishing season. When you rent in the early season (at our early season rates), you can see them loading their boats, and the dock becomes a busy workplace. Unlike in the summer, during this busy time before June 1st, the dock is not available for guests use, and the float becomes available in early June.
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
Small but perfect. Home away from home.
It felt like home. I was nervous about the size of the cottage with me, my fiance, 2 young kids and mother in law who joined us shirt noticed but it was still perfect. It was clean and had everything we needed. Lisa let me know what I did need, ie baby gate. Beautiful sunrise and moon light views. The fisherman and lobster trap people were nice and cool to watch. Perfect location right next to everything! Mama Ds restaurant was my favorite. Lisa was friendly and always had a quick response. I hope to go back someday.
My boys and I were comfortable and at peace in the cottage and on the dock. Within easy walking distance to the harbor. The cottage is cozy and clean with perfect amount of space. large windows to watch the tides as they roll in and out. Tucked away from neighbors and peaceful. Thank you!
Quiet yet walking distance to the harbor
What an adorable place, perfect for us!
Absolutely perfect, best location
My husband and I stayed at the house for 6 days in July and had a wonderful time. The house is small but the perfect size for two people and comes stocked with everything you need. The fact that there was no a/c didn't matter because the breeze from the water through the open windows was refreshing. The bedroom is windows all around and we did use the fan provided and we were very comfortable. The location just cannot be beat. You have access to the huge deck and dock where you can use a kayak or canoe. We rented a kayak for three days from a local place, Tidal Transit, and if you rent for three days or more they deliver it and pick it up for free. The location of the house is perfect for kayaking. Tidal Transit is awesome, highly recommended if you don't already have your own kayak. There are plenty of chairs on the deck to sit and enjoy a drink and relax on the water. It's very quiet in the area, perfect for relaxing. We sat outside in the evening and it felt like we were the only ones around. It is a working lobster dock and it's fun to see them bring the boats by and pull up the traps. Lots of cool wildlife and birds around, my favorite were the blue herons. We walked into Boothbay Harbor every day to eat and shop. It's about a three quarters of a mile and a very nice and easy walk. You can cross the footbridge which is lovely and gives some great views. Browns Wharf Restaurant is a little closer and we had breakfast and dinner there a couple times as well. We didn't cook anything ourselves but everything is provided if you want to do that and you can buy local lobsters just up the road. I just don't like to cook or clean on vacation! Lisa the owner is super nice and responds to messages almost immediately. We hope to return sometime and we would definitely recommend staying at her house without question. There are a lot of stairs to get into the house so that might be something to keep in mind for anyone with physical limitations.
we loved our stay-it was exactly what we wanted.
Beautiful area- the cottage was comfortable and charming.
Enjoy a picnic on the shore at Barrett's Park or take a nice walk across the foot bridge to town. On your way back from town, stop into one of the lobster retailers, watch the lobster men unloading their catch and pick up fresh lobster to cook and eat on our dock. The cottage is just 4 miles from a world class golf course and the Botanical Garden. Take a day trip to Monhegan Island, a lobster bake at Cabbage Island, whale watching, go lobstering or deep sea fishing on a charter boat, and sailing on a sunset cruise. Our YMCA offers day passes if you would like to workout, play tennis, walk on the track or swim in the new pool. Take in a movie at the Harbor Light Cinema. Enjoy a round of mini golf and an ice cream at the Dolphin golf or take a ride on the train at the railway village after viewing their collection of antique autos. The Boothbay Region is a wonderful place to unwind, relax and disconnect from reality.
Take a day trip to Freeport for a day of shopping at L.L. Bean and the outlet stores.
