About Kate Hallsworth
Calitri was recommended by a close friend. So in the year 1999 I decided to join my friend on holiday and see for myself. I immediately fell in love with Calitri and returned the following year to purchase and renovate the villa.
Kate Hallsworth purchased this Villa in 2000

Wonderful rural retreat in 'real Italy'!
The villa is absolutely amazing - we loved so much about it. It is a wonderful rural retreat and a chance to get to know 'real Italy'. Calitri is gorgeous and the people are really friendly. We had so many marvellous meals (Three Roses, Cave restaurant, etc) and far too many ice creams from Bar Jolly! We didn't have too many days out to explore as we enjoyed relaxing time around the pool. The villa is also really well equipped and clean. Kate is a great host (fantastic communication) and Emma was so helpful too. Cannot find any faults at all and would highly recommend a stay at the villa.
Thank you so much for your review. So happy you had a great time.......Calitri really is a hidden gem of real Italy.
Thank you for being for great guests.......
Peaceful and relaxing
We ( a party of 6, 3 couples ) have just spent two weeks at Villa Calitri. The villa is situated in a very quiet secluded area where the only thing to disturbed the peace is the sound of birds and the occasional noise of a tractor. The locals are all very friendly and never pass without a wave.
The villa itself is nicely decorated and clean. One or two minor adjustments would be helpful but nothing to detract from a relaxing and enjoyable time spent there.
The pool is clean and well maintained. A cover may be useful as the area is quite breezy (helpful when the sun is really hot) and would prevent leaves blowing into the water. However I guess not all guests would oblige by putting the cover over each night.
The owner and the manager could not have been more helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Having been to several villas this is not always the case. Thank you Kate and Emma.
I would recommend this villa to friends and relatives, including those with mobility issues (bedroom and bathroom on ground floor) and those with children. In fact the villa is suitable for most anyone.
Whilst staying at the villa we managed day trips to Naples (not my favourite place but had to be seen), Pompeii and Herculaneum ( well worth the visit but organise a guide in advance), Sorrento and Capri (definitely my favourite) as well as a lot of local trips in the surrounding area.
We ate out most days sometimes locally and sometimes a little further afield. All were lovely.
We have sent a detailed pack, of places we visited and where we ate, to both Kate (the owner) and Emma ( the manager). Far too much to detail here, but I am sure the pack will be made available on request. I hope its helpful.
A very nice two weeks spent in the quieter part of Italy - we started visiting Italy some years ago, we began in the North and have worked our way down south. We have never been disappointed. I can fully recommend a visit.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review. So pleased you had a lovely time and thank you so much for the pack with the details of places you visited and places you dined. Really helpful for or future guest.
Wishing you all the best.
Mooie villa rustig gelegen
Net buiten Calitri mooie tussen graanvelden gelegen villa. Heerlijk rustig.
Aanrader.
