Huge Gem in the Jordaan area of Amsterdam
Just had a wonderful Easter break staying at this amazing house. It has everything and more you could ask for. You could spend a lifetime just gazing at their book collection, not forgetting all the artwork on the walls and sculptures. Everywhere you look you find something new. There is so much light in the house with all the windows and every side has a different view especially from the roof garden gazing at the cathedral/church clock, which rings every hour. You are a 10 second walk to a canal, 2 minutes from Anne Frank's house, a supermarket, canal boat stop......15 minute walk from Central Station. The house is so central but very quiet. 10 stars. Thank you so much for letting us stay here. My daughter fell in love with the talking house cat who answers you back very politely. Superb !!
Excellent home in a great neighbourhood
The home is very large, with a fantastic roof deck. We stayed there with a friend, and there was plenty of room for 3 people (or two couples). The house is an old one, with lots of natural light, and very quiet as it is off the street down an alley. There is a cat, Giotto, who is friendly in an aloof cat way, but is a nice addition to the home. The Jordaan neighbourhood is fantastic, and several tram lines have a stop Two blocks away, so getting anywhere is easy. Overall, the nicest place we’ve stayed over several years of VRBO etc. rentals. Highly recommended
The Artist's House
If you don't just want to see the famous art treasures of Amsterdam but feel like you are an artist living in the heart of this historic city, then check this out.
Thrilled to have discovered and stayed in this charming house. It made me feel like I was part of the Amsterdam art scene. The house is situated less than five minutes walk from Ann Frank's house, canals and all the best bits of this lovely city.
This beautiful artist's house is full of character and unique features and objects, which turns ones stay into a visit to a private gallery. When not enjoying the thrills of Amsterdam, browse at your leisure around this three story house that has plenty to offer: from the library on the ground floor, interesting art pieces and curiosities to the piano in the living room. Prepare meals in the vast kitchen/dinning room and consume it from a vast selection of vintage crockery while listening to relaxing music or you can have a go at playing a piano, if you know how. This welcoming house has plenty of lovely areas to chill and enjoy your time off. If you are lucky with the weather have a quiet drink on the roof terrace. Although it only has one bedroom it accommodates two couples, as there is a comfortable sofa bed in the living room on a different level from the bedroom.
It also comes with the most gorgeous creature, a Bengal cat called Giotto ( part of the art scene :) ). We instantly fell in love with him.
It's lucky if you can manage to book this house for a stay as the owner, the Dutch artist, only rents it out when she is holidaying herself. While staying in her house you are asked to feed Giotto with food provided and give him love and attention as he is a very special cat :)
