Large 5-bedroom Scottish Highland farmhouse sleeping up to 10

Nuide House is located on the edge of Newtmore, a pretty Scottish Highland town situated within the beautiful Cairngorm National Park.

The spacious five bedrooms house sits on the Ralia Estate and can comfortably accommodate up to 10. The house itself has stunning views over the Monadhliath Mountains, as well as the local countryside. Admire the snow capped mountains in the winter and the heather covered hills in the summer - this really is a house to cater for all seasons.

On the ground floor of the farmhouse is the spacious, yet cosy sitting room complete with log fire, as well as a second sitting room with TV, which is ideal for children and teenagers. There is also a well-equipped kitchen complete with electric range cooker, a fridge, a dishwasher, a microwave and a coffee machine. Next door to the kitchen is the handy utility room where a washer/dryer and a chest freezer can be found. For enjoying meals together there is both an informal and a formal dining room.

The bedrooms at Nuide House are split over two floors. On the first floor of the house are two double bedrooms, both with en-suite bathrooms and a good sized twin bedroom. Two family bathrooms are also situated on the first floor. The final two bedrooms, both of which are twins are located on the attic floor.

Outside, Nuide House benefits from its own fully-enclosed garden, which is ideal for guests staying with either dogs or children. Featured in the garden is wooden furniture and a BBQ.

When staying at Nuide there are many different activities to enjoy, including wonderful hillside or mountain walks, cycling, fishing and water sports. Skiing is also popular during the winter months. For fishing the Ralia Estate can arrange for guests to fish on the nearby River Spey.

In the nearby Newtonmore guests will find some lovely places to eat, as well as some useful shops and a garage. There are also two museums, one which highlights the history of Clan Macpherson and the Jacobites, and the other showing how Highland life has changed over the past few centuries.

                                                        • Nuide Farmhouse is a well-equipped 5-bedroom self-catering holiday home ideal for either groups of friends or families. There is ample car parking for guests, as well as an enclosed garden ideal for both children and dogs. Within the house there is a wide range of appliances to keep everyone happy including gas central heating, an electric range cooker, a coffee machine, a washer/dryer, a stereo system, a TV with Sky, WiFi and an open log fire.

                                                          House is large and rambling with lots of character.

                                                          Lounge has lots of sofas to sink into, an open fireplace and wifi.

                                                          The kitchen has had some superficial updating done but is in desperate need of a new range (the current one is falling to pieces and has an oven which takes an hour to heat up) and some curating of contents (too much in the drawers etc. including broken appliances) on the plus side there is a Tassimo coffee machine and milk frother!

                                                          Bedrooms are equipped with comfortable beds and nice bedding and some even have fine original art on the walls depicting highland scenes (not sure why this isn't downstairs in the common areas instead of prints from a France etc.)

                                                          Bathrooms could all do with modernizing but they are clean and with seemingly endless hot water.

                                                          The washing machine is newer and works well and with good weather we never needed to use the dryer function.

                                                          This is a farmhouse on a working farm and could really do with a few cats on patrol, although this is obviously tricky for a rental property!

                                                          That being said, the house was as expected, the photos represent it well and we had a great stay there!

                                                          We enjoyed our stay at this glorious house in Newtonmore. Fabulous location and plenty of space around for the kids to play. We had a great time. House is comfortable and pleasant, it was great for a large number of people. A lovely spacious home for a week.

                                                          We had a lovely time at Nuide House. The beds were all very comfortable, the kitchen had ever peice of crockery/cookware we could possibly want. Every room was beautiful and tastefully decorated. The location was serene. I highly recommend this location for any family looking for all the comforts of home, along with ample peace and quiet.

                                                          Nuide House is situated within the beautiful Cairngorm National Park. Throughout the year these hills, whether covered in snow or heather provide a stunning landscape for walkers and cyclists. Water sport enthusiasts can also fall in love with the area with both Loch Insh and Loch Morlich ideal and also offering equipment to hire. Other nearby activities include playing golf on the Newtonmore course or horse riding, which can also be enjoyed locally within the town. Fishing is available on the River Spey and can be arrange by the estate within which the house is located. If you are looking to experience some of the local history and culture, Newtonmore has plenty to offer its visitors, including the Highland Folk Museum and the Clan Macpherson museum, which looks back at the history of the Jacobites. There are several places to eat nearby, including some excellent restaurants, a favourite for sight-seers is The Boathouse at Loch Insh. Newtonmore also has a few good shops and its own garage. Local family friendly attractions within easy reach of the farmhouse including the Cairngorm Sleddog Centre, the Highland Wildlife Park, the Newtonmore Wildcat Trail and Cawdor Castle. For the grown ups there are several nearby whisky distilleries!
