We bought this house to be in the mountains during the hot summer months. We love it both in the summer and winter.
Anne purchased this house in 2010
We love the view from the family room It has full length windows which look out onto the mountains
Can't wait to return. Overall, a wonderful place to stay. Very clean!!!
great first VRBO experience . House was personable , clean , had everything our family needed for a full week of fun and rest . 3 bathrooms - major plus on vacation when we all want to leave at once . Kitchen was well supplied for extensive cooking and ( a rarity ) we had enough plates bowls and cups !! many restaurant options nearby . Bedrooms arranged for privacy or easy access to kids . Location is obviously beautiful , many deer seen , but we were surprised at how close Sugar Mountain skiing , access etc were . This is a so nice after exhausting day on mountain , to drive home in the same neighborhood . Owners were responsive for questions before and after our stay . Highly recommend this house and will stay again when we can arrange our time off together for summer stay
The den was very cozy; the large fireplace was a treat! The house was very clean, and the kitchen was well equipped.
We had a wonderful week of hiking and fishing planned for our family. However, Mother Nature must not have received the memo!
It rained all week! There were a few occasions where the clouds parted and we did see the beautiful view from the deck. And the description is right, it was breathtaking! The rain might have kept us from getting out and enjoying the mountains, but it also forced us to stay inside and relax and catch up on some much needed sleep and family time. The house was well equipped and comfortable for our family. We enjoyed playing cards and watching movies. And, of course, sleeping with the windows open. What a welcome respite from the heat of Eastern North Carolina in August!
The house was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. There was a small issue with the electric sockets in the upstairs bathrooms, but we contacted the owner and they quickly got an electrician there to fix it.
Overall, it was a great week, we just wish we could have enjoyed that beautiful view every morning! Guess we'll just have to go back again!
My husband and I stayed for a week at this wonderful mountain retreat. We were looking for a place in the mountains with a view, privacy and elevation. At 4700 feet, the temperature never went above 76 degrees during the day, in mid August. The view of the mountains from the spacious deck, and particularly from the private balcony outside the master bedroom, was fabulous. A perfect place to beat the heat! We enjoyed dining on the deck at the picnic table every single night. The location was great - close to grocery stores, dining, shopping, and a fairly short drive to Banner Elk, Linville, Beech Mountain and Blowing Rock. We will definitely come back again.
The house was really nice. We loved the deck with its adirondacks and fantastic view. The kitchen was spacious with lots of pots and pans. The living room was large enough for all six of us to relax and spend time together. It was extremely quiet and relaxing. The only negative was the lack of air conditioning and fans. We opened all of the windows and the balcony door in the master bedroom, and still I was sweating at night. It was fine during the day, and one of the bedrooms did indeed have a fan, but our room was just too hot for someone who likes to be cool at night. Given this knowledge, I still would have stayed in the house, but I would have brought my own fan if I had known that the master bedroom didn't have one.
