About James Barrett

The Coach House forms part of Mintridge, a working family farm which Richard and Sally Barrett have owned since 1997. Mintridge Farmhouse is an attractive period Grade II Listed house, with origins dating from the 1600s. Since owning the farm, Sally and Richard have converted two barns into luxury holiday accommodation: The Oast House and The Coach House. Sally and her mother, Eileen (who lives in the farmhouse) are based on the farm everyday. Sally would be happy to show all of our guests around the working farm, something which proves especially popular with younger guests! We have Limousin cows, Charollais sheep and horses. Sally's mother, Eileen, is also well known for her baking of fresh scones with homemade raspberry jam for guests on arrival!

James Barrett purchased this barn in 1997

What makes this barn unique

Rolling hills of Herefordshire; Traditional Country Public Houses; Local Ale & Local Produce; Dog Walking.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We stayed in the Coach House with the four of us (family with two kids age five and seven). We had a lovely time! Loads to do in the surrounding areas but also a lovely place for staying 'at home!' The cottage is comfortable with everything you might need and is at the same time 'kid-proof!' The kids loved all the animals and roaming around. The garden has a lovely terrace for eating outside and enough space for simultaneous sunbathing/reading and playing football. Definitely recommendable!

Brilliant in every way

  • 5 of 5

The Coach House really is a wonderful place to relax and get away from the frenetic pace of everyday life. I would absolutely recommend it to anybody and would most certainly return if the opportunity arose.

Had a wonderful time whilst staying at the coach house. It had everything we needed and more,

  • 5 of 5

The Mintridge coach house was superb, with fresh scones butter and jam on arrival.

Plenty of room for two couples and a 9 year old. The facilities are spotless good quality and very homely. Lovely paved area and seating round the back of the property for bbq's.

Sally was great, made us all very welcome and catered to our every whim.

Will be booking the coach house for next year, cant wait!

Extraordinary!!!!

  • 5 of 5

Sally was very accommodating for us. My group of 4 arrived late Friday night so Sally made sure to have the lights on outside with some food available in case we were hungry. She also had some fresh scones prepared upon our arrival( they were delicious!!). Her house looked exactly how it is in photographs which made it felt more homey and comfortable. She definitely made sure to check on us the next morning in case we needed some things from the store since it was our first time there and we were only there for a wedding just a few miles away. Our check out was at 10 a.m. but she allowed for a later check out when we requested it. I would definitely stay in her home again the next time I'm in the area. Beautiful home, easy and the most accommodating person! Thank you so much Sally!!!

Absolutely lovely!

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is spacious and very pleasantly decorated, with a large garden that's great for children to play in. The farm also provided extra interest for our family and all the staff were very friendly and happy to explain to us about the animals, which we enjoyed seeing. We had lovely outings to the Malverns, Hampton Court Castle and The International Birds of Prey Centre in Newent, and we would highly recommend this cottage and area!

Lovely Holiday Cottage - Highly recommended

  • 5 of 5

Just enjoyed 4 night stay at the Coach House. Sally made us feel very welcome on our arrival and the house it’s self is beautiful and full of character. We had everything we needed and then some. The location is fantastic, we had days out at Eastnor Castle at Ledbury, Hereford, were we did a tour of the Cathedral Tower and we walked the Malvern Hills and visited Upton. We ate out in Bromyard it’s self a couple of times at the Inn at Bromyard and Foxy’s Steak Bar. One night we had a take away from New Jade Garden which was delicious and highly recommended. Thank you Sally for a wonderful few days, hopefully we can visit again soon.
