A fully refurbished newly listed 5 bedroom 10 person holiday let.

Nestled in the picturesque village of Askrigg, the Apothecary's House is a large 18th century fully refurbished five bedroomed three storey stone built house. It has been modernised to a high standard with many original features retained and has a large contained garden with seating areas giving beautiful views towards Arrandale.

The village of Askrigg, which was the location for filming "All Creatures Great and Small" is served by a village shop, a local bakery, village pubs and places to eat. Askrigg is on the Penine Way and there are many walks and cycle routes around the area. In nearby Hawes there is a weekly market on a Tuesday, the Wensleydale Creamery, boutique shops, a fish and chip shop and a museum.

There is a local sport and leisure centre - Yorebridge Sport and Leisure Centre.

Places of local interest to visit are Castle Bolton, White Scar Caves, Ingleborough Caves, Bolton Abbey, Aysgarth Falls. There are numerous leaflets detailing walks and places of interest for you to browse through at your leisure.

The ground floor comprises a LARGE LOUNGE/DINER with a table that seats ten and a large pine dresser. There is comfortable seating, a coffee table, standard lamps and a TV and DVD player. A BOOT ROOM with hooks for coats, boot trays, and a pew for sitting to put on boots. A LOBBY with back entrance and a toilet. A WELL EQUIPPED KITCHEN with a 6 Hob dual fuel cooker, large fridge freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer and dishwasher. There is also a microwave, a 4 slot toaster, kettles, slow cooker, electric stick blender, electric hand mixer and radio. There are also large saucepans, serving dishes, roasting tins and baking trays for 10 people. A full compliment of cutlery, china and glasses are provided. For children there are plastic plates, bowls, beakers and a plastic tablecloth if required. A BACK LOUNGE with a TV, DVD and comfortable seating with a door which leads into the garden. ON THE FIRST FLOOR there are three en-suite bedrooms, two of which have king size beds and one with twin beds. One of the King size bedrooms features original beams and has a door which leads to a mezzanine seating area which overlooks the back lounge. THE TOP FLOOR has two bedrooms, one with a king sized cast iron bed and a twin room. This floor has a family shower room. All beds have HYPNOS mattresses and all bathrooms are fitted with POWER SHOWERS. Bed linen and towels are provided and there is a hairdryer in each bedroom. Each bedroom also has bedside cupboards, a mirror, a wardrobe, a chair and a chest of drawers. There are feature fireplaces in each bedroom but for decoration only.

Amenities: Oil fired central heating with a multi burner stove in the large lounge, for which all fuel is provided. There is a radio, 2 x TV's with freesat, blu ray players, wifi. All fuel and power included in the rent. A high chair and travel cot are available but cot linen is not provided. Plenty of free parking in the village. Sorry No pets or smokers. Short term lets by arrangement with the owners.

The Apothecary is fully fitted with smoke alarms, CO2 detectors and risk assessments are in the Welcome folder.  There are also fire extinguishers on each floor and a fire blanket and fire extinguisher in the kitchen.  All the bedroom doors have been treated with a Thermoguard Fire Protection coating

About Julie Taylor

We moved to the beautiful Yorkshire Dales at the end of 2015, having lived in London for more than 40 years. Paul is an artist and has a gallery in Hawes and Julie is a director of a company. We purchased The Apothecary's House in November 2015 and have spent a year refurbishing the property. The property has been ready as a holiday let since January 2017. We are hoping that people will enjoy, as much as we do, The Apothecary's House.

Fabulous house in a relaxing village

We arrived at the house naturally expectant and were not let down. It is really well appointed, very comfortable and suited to large groups as there are two good sized sitting rooms and a large , really well equipped kitchen. Don’t expect everything to be the same as home though ! The Tv is something. I am sure you have not experienced it’s like before and takes time to come to terms with as it is satellite based . The showers required patience and some planning as there is a fluctuating water pressure in the area. Neither of these things were any significant issues and in many ways enhanced the feeling of being on holiday - who wants it the same as home !

Askrigg is lovely with a shop next door, a fabulous bakers/cafe over the road and three different feeling pubs. Despite its poorer ratings on Tripadvisor we all felt the best was the middle one half way up the hill. Their food was excellent.

The house owners are really keen to help and responded to an issue we had immediately.

Check all the draws and cupboards for surprises and be amazed how the badly twisted kitchen door fits the frame so perfectly.

Highly recommend, enjoy !

Great house. Lots of space. Very well equipped and very clean.

We had a great time staying in Askrigg. Fantastic walks from the front door.

Only issue with the property was the water pressure which meant 9 people juggling showers.

Very comfortable cottage

Excellent cottage with large bedrooms and comfortable beds. Very well equipped kitchen, plenty of space for a large party. Great location for walking and biking. Central location local shop two doors up. Nice garden.

Fabulous home away from home. We had such a great stay here. Everything we wished for and more

Lovely Home. Everything catered for and the little personal touches when we arrived after a long drive were really appreciated. This is a well designed comfortable house to stay in and I would highly recommend it. The location was also perfect for us. Nice local walks early in the morning and plenty of things to visit within very easy reach. We felt very comfortable here which was enhanced by the professional approach of the owners.

Lots of information in the house on places to visit and on local restaurants. Perfect. Thank you for making our holiday special.

Very comfortable and well equipped house.

Wonderful holiday, so convenient being in centre of village near to pubs and shop. Everything about the house has been thought through, comfy beds, well equipped kitchen, comprehensive instructions. The welcome pack was a thoughtful extra. I’m sure we will be back to this wonderful property and I would thoroughly recommend it.

Best Holiday House Ever!

We have just returned from an amazing family holiday at The Apothecary's House where we celebrated my 66th birthday and my daughter and son in law's 11th wedding anniversary. What a brilliant time we had!! The house is perfect for a large family group. There were 8 adults and our two 3 year old grandchildren. The house is spacious and beautifully furnished with an extremely well equipped kitchen and very comfortable beds. To have 3 ensuite rooms plus an extra bathroom and separate downstairs toilet was amazing! The garden is lovely and was perfect to sit out in while the children played safely. Sadly we only had one day when it was warm enough to do so but in good weather it would be perfect. The little ones also enjoyed the playground behind the church opposite the house. Askrigg is a lovely village and we particularly enjoyed the pub meals in The Crown and The White Rose where they made us feel very welcome. Humble Pie provided us with delicious cakes and amazing meals which could be heated up at the house. Askrigg is a perfect base for days out as there are lots of interesting places to visit nearby. Thank you very much to Julie for all her help and for the welcome pack which was very much appreciated. The little ones were very sad to leave the house on the last morning and the big folk were too! No doubt about it, we will return one day! Carol Alexander and family from Cheshire.

Askrigg is situtated in one of the most attractive areas of the Yorkshire Dales one of the National Parks. It lies in the heart of Wensleydale with easy access to Swaledale, and the rest of the Yorkshire dales. The river Ure close by with footpaths alongside with waterfalls above Askrigg with the Millgill Force and Whitfield Gill Force walk. Selmerwater is also nearby and is the largest natural lake in the country. Askrigg is also near to Hawes one of the most famous towns in the Yorkshire Dales. There are many beautiful walks nearby including a walk to the rear of the Apothecary towards Arrondale.
