About Murray and Alli Peterson

In 2013 we bought the semi-derelict Shandon Farm and moved back to Scotland after many years in London

After planting up an apple orchard on the farm we built Appletree Cottage which was specifically designed for self catering

The cottage was completed in July 2016 and has received great reviews from all who have stayed in it.

Why Murray and Alli Peterson chose Croftamie

Appletree Cottage is great for family and friends reunions.

The living area is ideal as it is large and open plan with ample space for eight people. As the lounge, dining room, breakfast bar and well equipped kitchen are all in the one room it means every one is together and nobody is left out .

In sunny weather the private patio is perfect for alfresco dining with fantastic views across Cameron Muir to the Whangy. On cooler days sitting inside is just as good. The southern wall of the communal living area is glazed so bird watching and wildlife spotting are just as good from the comfort of your armchair!

The four bedrooms are all en-suite and can be made up either as four double bedrooms or as two doubles and two twins (with two single beds in each twin) This makes it superbly flexible for families.

The situation within the world renowned Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park is terrific. There are many out door activities including golf (11 nearby courses) walking, climbing, riding, sailing, kayaking, pleasure cruising and walking the gorge featured in Outlander and The Eagle.

On the damper days Stirling and Glasgow are easily accessible and there is a nearby swimming pool and spa in the village of Drymen.

Appletree is awarded 4 stars by the Scottish Tourist Board (Visit Scotland)

What makes this cottage unique

The design and location of Appletree Cottage makes it unique.

Over the years the owners have stayed in many holiday rentals across the world. Building Appletree Cottage was the opportunity to bring all of the best experiences together and build the perfect venue for the self catering holiday.

The way the space works for eight people together is superb. The open aspect of the living area is enhanced by the huge glass windows and double height lounge. Even on days when the weather is grim this cosy friendly cottage is the ideal place to stay.

Dream home close to Loch Lomond

  • 5 of 5

We had an incredible three night stay at the Appletree Cottage. Beautifully and comfortably furnished with amazing views of the farm. Murray and Alli were wonderful hosts who greeted us and gave us a tour of the home. Cannot recommend enough! Hope to return in the future.

Beautiful relaxing stay with lovely hosts

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Appletree Cottage was a delight. From the moment we arrived, rather tired and with our two rambunctious young boys in tow, Murray and Alli proved to be wonderful hosts, providing some tasty welcome treats and showing us around.

Their property is glorious, we loved waking in the morning to enjoy breakfast with the scenic Scottish vista from the enormous picture windows as a backdrop. The place was spotless, the bedrooms comfy and warm with lovely ensuite bathrooms, the kitchen with all mod cons if you fancied cooking a feast! Oh, and the opportunity to enjoy Netflix, which our boys particularly loved... The only downside was we would have loved to have stayed longer!
