Wish we had more time to enjoy the property as most of our time on Finley Point was at a family gathering. That said the cabin was always a comfortable place to come back to and enjoy the views. Kitchen is very well appointed and we used it for breakfast every day, grill looked top notch and lots of tasty treats to get us started upon arrival. Basement sleeping arrangement would work as advertised (overflow type thing) but not as cozy as rest of the beds. Kids loved sleeping upstairs and we enjoyed the deck for the short amount of time we were actually in the cabin. We wouldn't hesitate to book this property again.
The best aspect of our experience was the communication and flexibility with Lisa our host, she responded promptly with any requests or questions and really made us all feel welcome in her home.
Love, love, love this peaceful hideout
We stayed in this log cabin for two weeks in July. The cabin is hidden up a dirt driveway with lots of privacy. It has a rustic decor and was clean with enough beds and space for two families to be comfortable. I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived, definitely better than the pictures appear. If planning to work, which we did, you will need to bring your own hotspot with an unlimited plan.
The lake view was amazing and the weather was perfect. In the beginning we had a few cool days, one cold enough to warrant having a fire in the fireplace. Towards the end it was warm enough to need to manage the temps in the cabin by opening windows at night and closing during day, but not unbearable. Most mornings and evenings were spent outside on the front or back deck. There was sooo much wildlife. The osprey, swallows, robins, deer, chipmunks...I have way too many pictures! Plus the smell of being up in the evergreens. I spent every morning drinking coffee on the front porch in a rocking chair.
My husband and I chose one of the rooms on the main floor while my two teens chose to sleep in the loft. There were four beds up there with one being a double. The finished basement (well lit and not scary, thank God) had two beds we didn't use. Fair warning that it might be humid to sleep down there if you plan to do any laundry. The main living space had a spot for everyone so that we didn't have to be on top of each other. Plus we had the choice of sitting indoors at the dining table or out on the front porch for dinners. The clean kitchen had everything and was big enough for our needs. It had an island which was helpful for food prep and service. We also used the gas grill outside a few times. One thing I loved (which others may not) was that there was not a lot of left over condiments and shelf/pantry items from other stays. Just a few seasonings and sweeteners. I didn't feel like I had to keep my food separate from the "old food". The refrigerator was empty too. We had room for all of our own stuff.
My boys did make it down to the county lot with beach access a half mile down the road one day. They carried the available canoe over their heads. It was a good workout and they didn't do it again. But it made for a good story : )
Lisa and Brad were super nice and very accessible by text. They also live down the road and were prompt to address any concerns or questions. The welcome gifts and potted flowers were a nice touch for when we arrived.
Perfect relaxing time to enjoy family and friends
We had a great time and spent many hours on the back deck watching the osprey and their young by day and enjoying the beautiful sunset by night. The cabin is so cozy and has a warm and comfortable atmosphere and the views are better than we could have expected. We enjoyed the Lake and even our teenagers hopped on the bicycles and cruised around the peninsula. I would recommend this cabin to anyone who really wants to experience "True Montana" hospitality and comfort. After your first evening watching the sunset you will see why this truly is the " Big Sky Country".
Our entire large group - to a person - was delighted and surprised at how well appointed this home was for us. The bedrooms matched us as if they knew our family dynamics! And the sunset views......they defy words. A little challenging to find after dark, but worth it!
A nice cabin nestled in the woods with a picture perfect view.
Our family thoroughly enjoyed our week long stay. The cabin was very comfortable and we are very appreciative to the owners for their kind hospitality. Would recommend this location to others.
First off we had a hard time going to bed on time because the sunsets were so long and beautiful over the lake! It was profoundly relaxing to sit on the porch and watch the lake and listen to the birds, away from motors and general city noise out on the tip of the peninsula, with water, mountains, islands and clouds as distractions.
The house is immediately inviting as you walk in, comfortable, light, airy yet cozy. The queen bed was quite comfortable, the bathroom has beautiful added touches and we lacked for nothing. We even considered taking the kayaks out but it was choppy and windy the day we had the time. Great area for walking, riding bikes, or finding one of the many niches in the house to escape into a good book. We loved the huge drum in the living room and the stone fireplace. Even enjoyed fresh u-pick pesticide free local cherries. A lovely surprise was the hundreds of cherry orchards on the East side of the lake. We saw deer, turkeys, fox, and chipmunks, along with osprey and other water birds. I wish I could share the multicolored rocks in the pristine lake water, at the nearby lake access beach. Astoundingly gorgeous.
The owner, Lisa is very accommodating and kind. A place Definitely worth checking out! We felt very special being able to enjoy such a yummy place.
