Nestled among the ferns, under the majestic Redwood trees, this cozy little cabin was built in 1930 as a fishing cabin. Back then, the creek was full of steelhead and one could fish right from the living room window. Once the road was put in and electricity came to this canyon inside of a canyon, it became a resort area of sorts. The creek was dammed up in the summer for the local swimming hole known as 'Club Lompico'.
There is a large deck with views of Lompico Creek. The living room has 1 full wall of windows facing the creek. Beautiful Loch Lomond is just a 5 minute drive away. (Due to the drought status Loch Lomond will not be opening for the 2014 season. This may change with more rain.) Paddle boat,
row boat, and canoe rentals, fishing for stocked trout and indigenous bass, picnicking, and hiking trails. Loch Lomond is open from March-September. In the mountains we may be, but ever so close to the sea. Santa Cruz is a 20 minute drive. There is the famous Roaring Camp Railroad attraction. Kayak rentals and tours go all around the bay. From town, it just a short hike to the Lime Kilns. Near the border of Scotts Valley and Santa
Cruz lies the Mystery Spot.
The big, elegant sail boat sloop, the Chardonnay, has wine tasting with its coastal tours. You can take the train all the way to the Beach Boardwalk for a day of fun rides, mini-golf, and sun. Nearby, the Felton Commons Park boasts the tallest covered bridge in the United States, (Guinness Book). All around are famous local wineries; Bonny Doon, Bargetto's, Zayante, and Hallcrest to name a few. Limo tours are available. In Felton town, Don Quixote's Mexican Restaurant features live entertainment every night. Italian and Chinese cuisine and pizza are also in town.

Our family wanted the best of both worlds with the woods and the beach. Well we got exactly what we asked for. First I thought OMG the city is so close I probably booked a room on a little hill!!! N
ot at all. We felt like we drove deep into the beautiful redwoods (@15 min) and there it was. The cutest little cabin ever. Janea had everything very clean and fully stocked. I thought I took everything but the little things you could forget and ruin a trip - Janea already had in cabin😉. Kids had a blast. Felt so safe at night because cabin had a nice fence around it. Everything was well lit and even at night after an adventure out - cabin was lit up to find our way home. Rooms where clean - bedding smelled fresh. This place was very reasonably priced and you got all the perks. Really felt like home for a week. Thank you Janea!!!! We will return!!!!
Wonderfully peaceful stay amongst the tall trees of the Redwood forest .
Quirky and cosy cabin with thoughtful touches and inclusions.
Remote location but nearby Felton has great eating and coffee .
We had a wonderful time staying at Tranquility Base. Janeau was such a wonderful host. When we arrived the place was lit up so we found it quite easily. She had all these cute little notes for us all over the house. We enjoyed BBQing outside on the front porch. We highly recommend this place.
After an adventurous day of sightseeing with toddlers, Janea's tree house hideaway was the perfect ending to our day! The property had so many whimsical details, it truly felt magical. Cozy, clean, and comfortable beds. Soaking tub was a nice addition. The only thing I would do differently is to bring mosquito repellent. They were pretty aggressive! We will definitely return.
We were 2 adults with a toddler and this place suited us perfectly. As a family, we are accustomed to rustic accommodations and knew by the description what to generally expect. We loved this space and found the eclectic décor charming. The atmosphere was quiet and peaceful which was just what we were looking for after a previously hectic week at a very posh resort hotel. I'll take this place any day over that place. The rooms are small and quite cozy with numerous, but well organized, amenities which can give the impression of clutter. As a senior citizen, the seating did present a bit of a challenge but I simply adapted . The beds are very comfortable and the kitchen had just about anything you needed to cook a meal. We were gone most of the day during our stay as I had informed Janea we were coming to do wine tasting in the area. She very generously created a map of wineries in the area for us and we took full advantage of it. Our evenings were spent preparing quiet dinners after a day of exploring. We did not get to take advantage of the hot tub or outdoor seating area due to cooler weather. Janea respected our privacy which was appreciated. I would highly recommend this place for those who can fully appreciate tranqulity and serenity in a slightly rustic setting. I would love to come back someday.
So first off I'd like to start with the pros, because I've never left a bad review and quite honestly feel bad doing so. But seeing how this place costs over $200 a night, I think it's important that people are well informed of where they will be staying on their vacation. When I booked this room there were 36 five star reviews which surprises me after my stay, I've always booked on VRBO and had GREAT EXPERIENCES. The redwoods and view was beautiful and there was a creek running across the street, that was my favorite part of the stay. There was lots of privacy and it was very peaceful up there. We slept in the bigger bedroom and I have a very bad back and the mattress was decent, I didn't wake up with back pain which has been a common issue with rentals in the past.
The cottage however was VERY cluttered, messy and outdated. There wasn't any comfortable seating, the patio areas were pretty dirty, on vacation the last thing I want to do is pay over $200 a night for a room and have to clean to have a decent place to sit. I had kind of an uneasy feeling inside the cottage...it could of very well been because I'm a very clean & organized person. I figure that is why there are no pictures posted of the inside on the website. We chose to spend as much time in Santa Cruz because we didn't want to hangout at the cottage and to me it's very important that I have a comfortable clean place to stay. The cottage certainly had a charm to it and the owner left detailed instructions for everything. She also had plenty of spices, condiments and toiletries which we didn't use, but would come in handy for others. The towels were very old and kind of gross, so if you stay here be sure to bring your own.
All in all the view was beautiful and there is a lot of space and privacy, but it's clear that there is no money being invested in this property to make the stay more pleasurable. This is def. the longest review I've ever left, but it's important that people are aware of where they are staying and feel comfortable and relaxed.
Beautiful Loch Lomond is a miniature Lake Tahoe, complete with an island. It has paddleboat, and row boat rentals. Picnic areas, hiking
fishing. 10 minute drive from the cabin.
