Nestled among the ferns, under the majestic Redwood trees, this cozy little cabin was built in 1930 as a fishing cabin. Back then, the creek was full of steelhead and one could fish right from the living room window. Once the road was put in and electricity came to this canyon inside of a canyon, it became a resort area of sorts. The creek was dammed up in the summer for the local swimming hole known as 'Club Lompico'.
There is a large deck with views of Lompico Creek. The living room has 1 full wall of windows facing the creek. Beautiful Loch Lomond is just a 5 minute drive away. (Due to the drought status Loch Lomond will not be opening for the 2014 season. This may change with more rain.) Paddle boat,
row boat, and canoe rentals, fishing for stocked trout and indigenous bass, picnicking, and hiking trails. Loch Lomond is open from March-September. In the mountains we may be, but ever so close to the sea. Santa Cruz is a 20 minute drive. There is the famous Roaring Camp Railroad attraction. Kayak rentals and tours go all around the bay. From town, it just a short hike to the Lime Kilns. Near the border of Scotts Valley and Santa
Cruz lies the Mystery Spot.
The big, elegant sail boat sloop, the Chardonnay, has wine tasting with its coastal tours. You can take the train all the way to the Beach Boardwalk for a day of fun rides, mini-golf, and sun. Nearby, the Felton Commons Park boasts the tallest covered bridge in the United States, (Guinness Book). All around are famous local wineries; Bonny Doon, Bargetto's, Zayante, and Hallcrest to name a few. Limo tours are available. In Felton town, Don Quixote's Mexican Restaurant features live entertainment every night. Italian and Chinese cuisine and pizza are also in town.

We greatly enjoyed staying at Tranquility Base over Easter weekend. Being up among the impressive Redwoods (love that deck!), hearing the sound of the creek and the birds was a tonic for the soul. The beds were comfy, living room cozy, and the kitchen was spot-on with everything we needed. Thank you!
This was the perfect night for our family visit to Santa Cruz. I only wish we had a a couple of days or more to spend there.
I love rustic locations, quiet, sounds of birds, nature, streams. I like roads that are hidden among the trees, and no traffic.
This was a stop for a family of 4, and although a little tight for a husband / wife, and 18 year old twins, it was a nice way to spend an evening. Plus our twins were off their phones with limited cell service. :-)
The house is decorated in a fun atmosphere of rustic Hawaiian mountain home. A nice sign greeted us in the yard.
The hosts made if very easy to find. You must park on the side of the road next to the house, and then a set of wooden stairs take you to the house. An adventure, but a nice one.
We arrived late, around 9:30 pm, and so was dark, but we could find our way in. It was easy to access.
Once inside we used the two bedrooms plus the roll-away/couch for 1 of our twins.
The hot tub is a nice touch. No bubbles or jets, and water not extra hot. Kitchen is small but adequate, although we ate in Santa Cruz, and left before breakfast, so didn't use the kitchen to its full extent.
A nice stay. You must love rustic to enjoy this house. But if you do, you will love this location.
It was a wonderful getaway. The cabin was very clean and beautifully decorated. There are cute treasures hidden on the property that were really fun to find. We spent the mornings on the deck and even took a little hike at sunrise, which is breath-taking. The directions to get to the place were very helpful and accurate. Must be careful of the confident, fast drivers when it comes to the single lane sections of the road though. We enjoyed downtown Santa Cruz, Sea Bright Beach, and the Big Basin hike and the cabin was in a reasonable distance from everything. It was nice to be cut off from the world yet still experience the local areas. The wifi had a weak signal, just enough to do some basic things. I particularly loved that it was weak because it forced you to put away technology and take in the scenery while bonding with each other. We did not come into any major insect issues since they mostly stay outside as long as you follow her instructions. The banana slugs were a joy to find, they love the little lotus fountain in the garden area. In addition, there were fun, brain teaser puzzles to play with while we were chilling at the cabin and even toys if someone brought kids. The stream across the way is beautiful and it's sound were meditative. Overall, it was a great stay and would love to come back. Best girls trip yet!
Janea was very nice to deal with. The property is just as others have described - kind of funky cabin but very comfortable. We didn't use the hot tub or the outdoor seating, but all looked inviting. Would recommend to others for a relaxing getaway!
Fun and cozy cabin in the woods. Everything you need for your stay is provided, just bring your own groceries and you are good to go. Plenty of hidden surprises around the property to make you smile so make you sure you poke around and find them all.
Our family wanted the best of both worlds with the woods and the beach. Well we got exactly what we asked for. First I thought OMG the city is so close I probably booked a room on a little hill!!! N
ot at all. We felt like we drove deep into the beautiful redwoods (@15 min) and there it was. The cutest little cabin ever. Janea had everything very clean and fully stocked. I thought I took everything but the little things you could forget and ruin a trip - Janea already had in cabin😉. Kids had a blast. Felt so safe at night because cabin had a nice fence around it. Everything was well lit and even at night after an adventure out - cabin was lit up to find our way home. Rooms where clean - bedding smelled fresh. This place was very reasonably priced and you got all the perks. Really felt like home for a week. Thank you Janea!!!! We will return!!!!
Beautiful Loch Lomond is a miniature Lake Tahoe, complete with an island. It has paddleboat, and row boat rentals. Picnic areas, hiking
fishing. 10 minute drive from the cabin.
Neary's Lagoon Bird Sanctuary, UCSC arboretum, Big Foot Museum, Long Marine Lab.
