About Corinne Jones
I am a South African living in England with my husband and two of our three children. Whenever we can, we spend time in our lovely home in the Cape Winelands with family and friends; enjoying the wine and eating out at the fabulous restaurants in the area. We love exploring European cities and skiing in the Austrian Alps.
Corinne Jones purchased this Chateau / Country House in 2016
Why Corinne Jones chose Stellenbosch

Magnificent house in every way possible - we couldn't have wished for more !
From the beginning when we first inquired about the property until we checked out, the owner was extremely helpful and quick to communicate. Our stay couldn't have been any better than it was. The home is beautiful and very spacious. There is a great view of the vineyards from the back porch. The backyard was large and the kids loved it. We would highly recommend this property. It was a perfect fit for our group.
Large home with all amenities needed for a pleasant stay. There was a wonderful assortment of wine gifted by the host as well as milk and cookies. Cooking necessities are provided. The instructions for entry were detailed plus we received directions to grocery stores and lists of activities in the region. We easily could have spent more time in the area. The location is convenient and the views from the property are stunning. We arrived during a cold spell and it took several hours for the house to warm up. No problem as the bedding is so comfortable. Additionally, the owner provided a space heater when it appeared the kitchen area was not warming adequately. But, once again, this was during a quite a cold snap. The new bathroom has better water pressure than the other two - as we had read previously. The issue is due to older plumbing and reduced water pressure because of the drought. We worked around it by sharing the new bathroom when needed. Also, this issue is being addressed for the future. None of the above would deter us from staying at this property again and we highly recommend others to consider booking this location.
We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay - and please do come again! Just an update on the hot water and water pressure: the plumbing and hot water systems to all bathrooms is being replaced in September, but low pressure may continue to be something of an issue until the current drought conditions are relieved and authorities are able to return water pressure to normal levels.
Beautiful house and enjoyable stay
The house and its surrounding grounds are beautiful and provide the perfect location for a relaxing getaway. The bedrooms and bathrooms were all very clean and comfortable and all the basic amenities were readily available. The only major issue which we encountered was with the low water pressure when using the showers in two of the three bathrooms and a drainage issue in the third. The host is very hospitable and very responsive to any communication sent throughout the entire process from booking, to during the stay and following your visit. It was a wonderful experience and I highly recommend this location when visiting Stellenbosch.
Thank you very much for the feedback. We are glad you enjoyed your stay and are sorry that you experienced water pressure problems, which were unfortunately beyond our control.
Owing to the very severe drought in the Western Cape, which was declared a national disaster during your stay, the Stellenbosch Municipality reduced the water pressure in an attempt to curb domestic usage and ensure that water lasts until the rains come. The reduction took place during your visit - the first time this has occurred since we have owned the property.
As you can understand there is very little we can do to change the situation in the short term, but we have commissioned a new and quite elaborate rainwater harvesting system that will provide us with large amounts of our own water and help to compensate for drought in the future. It is to be installed in July and we are very excited about it!
Wonderful spacious house situated a short drive from Stellenbosch with lovely view.
We stayed in December 2016 for 5 nights and enjoyed the many facilities of the house and its beautiful garden. We found the owner to be very efficient with plenty of information on the house and useful tips for visiting the many attractions nearby.
The house itself has plenty of character, is really well appointed with very comfortable living areas including a large interesting library. There are two kitchens of a high standard and are very well equipped. We only used one bedroom which was spacious and very comfortable. We would not hesitate to return to this property in the future and further explore this beautiful area. We did book a meal at the nearby Jordan vineyard which was excellent.
Our home is situated outside Stellenbosch on a small-holding. It is very private with lovely views of the vineyards.
We are located just off the M12 which runs between Stellenbosch and Kuils Rivier, with easy access to Stellenbosch and wine farms such as Neethlingshof, Spier and Jordan.
