CMA is in a Bona Fide Italian dreamscape.
Magnificent views of the surrounding vineyards and villages can be breathed in from the breakfast balcony off the open plan living/dining area.
Take in the rolling hills of Piemonte, they are truly breathtaking.
The house and apartment were originally part of the castle property, our neighbour on the Piazza.
Both large bedrooms have super king beds, spacious sitting areas, original stone work and exposed wooden beams.
There is free parking at the front door for one vehicle with lots more options on the Piazza for larger vehicles.
Our white open plan kitchen is well equipped with every utensil we personally love and includes a washing machine and induction cooktop.
The cement/marble bathroom is reminiscent of a Turkish Hamman, with a tiled bench seat, waterfall and hand held shower.
Tea, coffee and breakfast staples are supplied to get your vacation started.
Downstairs a private garden is there for you to sit and sip, picnic or sunbathe.
A public pool is only 10 minutes drive away in Mombercelli, with a 25 metre pool and restaurant. It's open daily from 10am - 7pm, 2 hour ticket prices are €3 on weekdays and €4 on weekends and holidays.
We can provide you with the exact address but turn left at the bottom of the hill and you cant miss it.
There are local shops at the bottom of Montegrosso hill to kick-start your larder and a large supermarket is 8 minutes away by car.
Tucked in the shadow of a 900 year old castle in a medieval village in Piemonte, it's a place for quiet contemplation and relaxation with your partner and friends.
Turin airport is the closest but depending on when you want to fly, check availability from Genoa and Milan airports too.
The easiest and best way to get around is by car, all major airports and train stations have car rental agencies, it’s best to book before you arrive.
(You need to be aware that there are a couple of tolls on your way in so have a card ready)
It is a good idea to stop for milk, bread and any essentials before you get to the house. They are available at the petrol stations along the way and also at the bottom of Montegrosso Hill (depending on what time you arrive).
Trains run regularly from Milan and Turin to Asti (the closest large town), and they also have a line to Montegrosso between Asti and Montegrosso.
The train service runs Mon - Sat from Montegrosso to Asti at 29 minutes past the hour every hour from 6am to 8pm (except 10am and 4pm).
The trip only takes 15 minutes.
Return trains leave Asti at 12 minutes past the hour on the same schedule. The same train service runs to Nizza Monferrato and Acqui Terme - both towns are lovely and worth a visit.
The Montegrosso train station is at the bottom of the hill, adjacent to the large car park on Via XX Settembre (SP3), across from Banca Popolare di Novara.
Please note that there are NO trains on Sundays.
We have included the timetable in the guest book.
The other option is Taxi Asti. Taxi Asti offers a modern fleet of 18 taxis, with in car POS machines and air-conditioning, none of their cars are more than 5 years old. Taxi Asti employs highly qualified personnel with punctuality, courtesy and discretion. The operate from 4:30 to 23:30. Their contact details are:
They speak English.
Have fun exploring local towns and villages, and sampling the some of the best food and wine in Italy.
It is such a surprise to find everything is so affordable here; meals and coffee and market food, and then we remember this is not a tourist hot spot.
We are all privileged guests.
We’re still discovering new corners of this area of Piemonte and love the contrast of the glamorous cities of Turin and Alba with the hilltop villages of La Morra and Costigliole.
Alba is our local favourite for lunch.
Nizza and Asti are fantastic fun too for meals, shopping and walking.
Old fashioned hospitality exists with the generous apero snacks provided with your Aperol Spritz or glass of wine any time of the day.
Head to Bar Centrale or Albergo Restaurant (terraced with views in summer) both are 1 minutes walk from the apartment.
The countryside is incredible and each season has it's own charm and cuisine.
Most restaurants change menu seasonally.
We are a 2 hour drive from the coast (Genoa, Camogli).
The Alps wrap around us in Montegrosso.
Piedmont literally translates to ‘foot of the mountain’.
Hiking in the Aosta Valley or Chamonix, or lunching in Portofino are on our visit list but we have plenty of suggestions waiting for you in the guest book which we regularly update.
The Designer Outlet shopping malls are only 1 hour's drive in either direction (one in Turin and one in Serravale) and really are worth a visit for fashionistas..... seriously great shopping especially in January and July when sale time kicks in.
Anything we can do to make your stay more enjoyable, please don't hesitate to ask. Our local English/Italian speaking caretaker lives minutes away for any troubleshooting too.
You will have an amazing holiday at Casa Mazzini Apartment.
Sleep, eat, repeat (and be merry)
