About Cristina Ruiz
Architect and teacher. The apartment was the former architecture office of the hostess and his partner, who renovated the whole building in 2000. The instalations and services are new: elevator, air conditioned, internet but the old character of the building was preserved: facade, wood structure, main staircase and balconies. The best of all is its wonderful location in the heart of Madrid, that allows to enjoy its lovely days and nights in the most beatiful environment: monuments, convents and historic buildings conform the traditional streets around. The best place not to miss anything Madrid can offer.
Cristina Ruiz purchased this Apartment in 2000
Why Cristina Ruiz chose Centro
The building was an old silversmith's workshop that was renovated to housing apartments in 2000.

Close to so many things
This is a great unit. It is close to Sol metro station and all the food restaurants grocery you would need.
Two things to consider- the noise ( which does not bother me) this little road has a lot of car truck trash pick up noise during the early am )
- second the shower is small - so if you are larger or want to shave your legs it is not going to happen in shower.
The unit was perfect for myself and teen daughter. We felt safe and secure. Check in was easy as well as check out.
Loved that we could be in the middle of things in a 5 min walk to Sol or Plaza Major.
We enjoyed our stay.
Perfect Spot in Madrid
The apartment is perfectly located in the center of Madrid. It is nicely laid-out (well, Cristina is an architect!), well-equipped, and attractive in decor and art-work. Three floor-length doors/windows give a wonderful view of Spanish families going to and fro, a welcome scene unlike those in American cities. I will happily return.
Thank you so much, dear. I am happy you enjoyed a traditional Christmas time in Madrid: the area is full of Christmas events (Christmas market, belenes, shopping )and families with children like to visit all of them.
See you back anytime!
Good for center of big city.
Pros: Perfect location, relatively quiet street, host is very nice person.
Cons: Impossible comfortably take a shower, too small.
Thanks a lot! I see your troubles, and I am sorry.... but think you are a XL person!
My husband and I were looking to stay in the city and experience life through the eyes of the locals. This apartment was perfect. Very comfortable and clean. Cristina is just the kind of host we love! Very thorough in describing what we needed to know about the apartment, getting around in the area, making recommendations for us. We had a lovely stay. I must say if you are looking for something a little more quiet, being in the city center is not for you. Thanks Cristina for everything! Would definitely stay again.
It was very nice to meet you and know you have enjoyed your stay. Come back anytime: it will be always a pleasure to host you.
The Perfect Place
I couldn't imagine a more perfect place to stay in Madrid than Cristina's property. The pictures do not even do it justice-the apartment is so lovely! The balcony doors let in so much natural light. The bed is incredibly comfortable as well. The kitchen has all that you need and the bathroom is very well equipped. The apartment is on the 1st floor (2nd in US) and there is an elevator but the stairs are so easy. Although the doors face the street, I didn't hear any noise at night-but I do live in New York so I might just be used to the noise! Cristina thoughtfully provided earplugs next to the bed if needed.
Location-Absolutely perfect! 15 minutes from the Royal Palace and 15 minutes from the Prado Museum. Plaza Mayor and Plaza del Sol are less than a 5 minute walk away. Fabulous restaurants are surrounding you-including Restaurant Botin (the oldest restaurant in the world and I had an excellent dinner there). The Mercado-an open air food and wine market is just on the other side of Plaza Mayor,
I would recommend this apartment to anyone who is looking for a lovely and welcoming space while in Madrid. Cristina was the perfect hostess and very communicative before and during my stay. She was very helpful with recommendations and directions as well.
Amazing trip all around and this apartment helped to make trip even better than I imagined.
Thank you very much. I am very grateful for your nice and detailed review. I wait for you any time in the future.
Enjoyed the location.
We were happy with the location. It was nice for 2 people and we very much enjoyed our stay.
Thank you for your review. It was a pleasure to host you and your husband because you were very nice travelers.
The apartment has two wonderful advantages: 1. its location less than two minutes walk from the Puerta del Sol (Madrid central point); and 2. its modern and comfortable services, because the building was recently renovated. The central location -but without the fuss of Puerta del Sol- makes all services to be nearby: the public transport is excellent with three underground lines and Sol railway station (conected with main Atocha and Chamartín stations) ; the airport is less than 40 minutes by train or metro, and Atocha railway station lies less than 10 minutes from Sol underground or railway station.
The shopping area is all around: big malls, shops and small markets.
The Paseo del Arte crosses Esparteros street, so the apartment is quite near the Prado, Reina Sofia and Thyssen Museums and other historical places as Plaza Mayor, Puerta del Sol, Palacio de Oriente, Descalzas Reales, etc. These are just a short walk by foot (also by bicycle, because the pedestrian areas include bike lanes).
The cultural life is also around: the Teatro Real (opera & concert hall), the Teatro Español (classic Spanish theater) and many others as Teatro de la Zarzuela, Teatro Apolo and the music-hall in Gran Via. Also the tablaos (flamenco-taverns) as Casa Patas or Cafe de Chinitas or jazz live concerts in the Cafe Central are 10 minutes away walk.
The bars, restaurants and tapas areas are really close: the Santa Ana plaza, Cava Baja, Mercado de San Miguel and the night life with many bar de copas (drink or cocktail bars) & discos (Joy Eslava; etc).
It's highly recommended to use the public transport: besides the tube and trains, there are many bus lines and taxis. If you like cycling, nowadays there are many pedestrian streets and bike-lanes: Mayor and Alcala streets have one. By bicycle you can arrive soon to the big parks: Madrid-Rio, Casa de Campo and the beautiful historic Retiro Park and also gardens as Plaza de Oriente with its Royal Palace. The Paseo del Arte (Art promenade) path can be reached easily. In the nearby there are some shops that rent cycles, and organize bicicle tours for tourist
The guests are welcomed by the hostess the first day, who explains the services and the apartment accomodations. Information and advises can be explained in English, French, German or Italian.
The apartment is located in a old building with only four apartments: one for each level. So it is a quiet one. Neighbours are people whith a familiar life. So loud music and noises are forbidden from 24.00 pm until 8.00 am. Also parties.
It's not allowed to smoke inside the building (apartment or common areas). Only on the exterior balconies.
The guest are welcomed anytime between 9.00 am and 23.00 pm. If arrival will be in another time please ask the hostess in advance.
