About Katie Niehaus
My husband and I, along with our three children, split our time between St. Cloud and the Twin Cities. We love our St. Cloud home for all it offers and we are confident that you will enjoy it too!
Katie Niehaus purchased this House in 2003
Why Katie Niehaus chose St Cloud
I bought this home before I got married because it was so incredibly charming! With it's shutters, dormers, window boxes, character, and updates, I instantly fell in love!

Quaint Home in North St. Cloud
So over all we're satisfied. I grew up in St. Cloud and we were renting this home so we could visit with my parents and family that still live in the area.
Things we liked: The location was great. Being next to the park and river was great for us with our young children. Their gardens and outdoor space were beautiful. The home had enough space for my family of 4. The king size bed in the upstairs bedroom was memory foam and it was glorious! The linens were provided - a huge space saver in the suit case. They had laundry facilities on site - also a big plus for traveling with small children.
Things we didn't: We contacted the owner several months prior to our rental to discuss whether having a gathering of my family at the property on July 4th would be possible. The owner waited until the day we were arriving to contact us back and state that this would not be permitted. We respected their wishes but I was not thrilled they chose to wait until it was no longer possible for us to cancel or consider other options to decline this request.
The kitchen was a little funny/spotty in terms of provided cook ware and various cooking items. There were no storage containers and the assortment of implements and pots, pans and things was a little odd. We have rented other homes like this and just didn't have the things we felt like we usually find.
The downstairs living room contained a gas fireplace. This is reasonable, but they did not have a carbon monoxide detector down there that we could find. And I was a little unsure if the CO and smoke detectors on the other floors were all working. I did not inspect them individually but I usually see those units blinking or with a constant indicator light that tells you they are powered on and working. This seems like a health/safety concern. We asked it is was possible to turn of the gas supply to the fire place and were told no. I just cracked a window in the basement while we were there to make certain gases weren't accumulating undetected.
Window coverings were spotty. The bedroom with the king size bed did not have curtains or blinds that could be closed fully, so we found ourselves waking up with the sun each morning! Some of the blinds in the living and dining room were difficult to operate.
Over all a 3 out of 5. The home is also in need of repairs. Nothing about that was a major problem, but it does diminish the look and effect. Patches in the flooring, missing closet doors, peeling paint etc.
Fine location, ample space
House is in a convenient location--walking distance to a lovely park and a short drive to downtown. There is a good amount of space for multiple people to stay. We were disappointed with the overall cleanliness of the property.
It fit our travel plans. We were in St Cloud for our grandson’s graduation. The house was clean. The stairs were a problem for the older generation, but the younger ones did well. We never could figure out how to work either television. The owner was pleasant and easy to work with. Overall I would recommend this house.
Nice cozy home
Clean, plenty of room to gather with family and overall a great getaway accommodation.
Clean, but definitely an odor in the home and/or water which impacts overall experience.
It is a nIce little residential grandmother type home. This however was not a great location for a girls weekend. The 1 1/2 bath had a very small shower and for the ability to sleep 8 one might expect a full coffee pot vs a 4 cup. The kitchen table did work great for games with additional folding chairs to accommodate 6.
You'll enjoy the location of this home! There are multiple bars & restaurants within one mile and the St. Cloud hospital is one block away. You can enjoy live entertainment at the Paramount theater (1 mile), SCSU (2 miles), SCTCC (.5 miles), and CSB/SJU (15 miles). Enjoy the nearby Munsinger Gardens or walk along the Mississippi River (1 block). This location is convenient to all areas of the St.Cloud metro!
