Beautiful,clean,light & very much home from home annexe

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the annexe, even though only a few days. What a warm welcome we had from the owners Jean & George Firth & not forgetting Meg. We were shown round the annexe & some personal & welcoming touches were there, milk in the fridge, a bottle of wine, bowl of fresh fruit & flowers on the kitchen sill! A real home from home in a beautiful peaceful place. All in all a real holiday home. The weather was very mixed which is to be expected at this time of the year, but we enjoyed every minute & returned home very relaxed. We will definitely return to the annexe for a holiday, hopefully a longer one.

Amazing annexe

The annexe was beautifully furnished. Everything you needed and more was there. Welcome pack great. Jean and George were really helpful and easy to get along with. Will return to Dunnington, like the annexe the village is beautiful. Do go and explore it. Buses to York easy to use if you feel like a day off driving. Good food at The Windmill and The Cross Keys.

Perfect place to take time out.

Wonderful holiday

We have just returned from a 2 weeks' stay at the annexe and it is definitely "home from home". Everything you could want was provided - we have found many rentals are lacking when it comes to equipment in the kitchen eg oven trays, etc. Jean and George were excellent hosts - welcoming us on arrival but they never bothered us during our whole stay. They were there if we needed them. The annexe is a short distance away from a park and ride which we used often to get into York. The village was lovely and very quiet. The local pub - The Cross Keys - was nice to visit - the meals are all home cooked and there was plenty of choice. We also had fish and chips at the Scrap Box - located on the Hull Road and they were lovely - freshly made as you ask for them. All in all we had a lovely, relaxing holiday. Here's to our next stay at the Annexe as we will definitely return in the future.

Car: recommended

On the outskirts of the village is Hassacarr pond nature reserve, also Hagg wood forest and many walking areas. There is a supermarket, chemist, doctor surgery,dentist,hairdressers, library, and florist in the village. Less than 10 minutes drive is Park and Ride which takes you into the historical city of York. Attractions include York Minster, Stonegate and the Shambles. There are many restaurants, pubs to enjoy food. Boat trips on the river Ouse. Museums, and plenty of shops to explore.

Less than an hour away is Scarborough,Filey, Bridlington. Castle Howard. Other places of interest include Harriot country, the Dales, the Wolds, Sutton Bank for fantastic views. Eden Camp is diffinately worth a visit, plus Yorkshire Air Museum which is 10 minutes drive away.
