About suzanne eblen
My name is Suzanne Eblen, I am the founder of The Old Lucketts Store in the tiny village of Lucketts, Virginia. My entire adult life has been dedicated to creating a welcoming place where customers can find the coolest vintage stuff, at great prices in a wonderful atmosphere. It has always been my dream to restore an incredible historic home, furnish it in the style of my store and let guests enjoy a place that is out of the ordinary... incredible, yet welcoming, historic, but not a museum. This home has answered all of those dreams. It is by far the most beautiful, special place I have ever encountered. The setting, the architecture... are beathtaking. It was slated to be a restaurant, a clubhouse, but those prospects by previous owners floundered, because this house deserves to be simply a beautiful home.

Why suzanne eblen chose Buckmarsh
I have never seen a property that for me is a perfect ten. The setting, the history, the architecture and the location, all make this home one of the most special places I have ever encountered.
What makes this Estate unique
Each room in this house has incredible attributes. From the ten foot ceilings to the 200 year old windows to the amazing views, to the unbelievable hand carved woodwork. This is a truly special place, that I am honored to have been the person to restore it.

Our weekend felt like a complete fairytale...all in part to the magical presence of this home! Absolutely stunning in every room. The hosts are incredible and beyond helpful! Though we felt like we were remote there were plenttttty of activities in the surrounding areas and three days just wasn't enough! Can't wait to revisit!!
Wonderful stay at a beautifully restored home
Several branches of our family (adults and teens) were in the area to attend a wedding and we decided to forgo a stay at a hotel. SO happy we did! The Retreat was perfect for us — a lovely combination of rustic elegance and coziness. The house was stocked with everything we needed. Suzanne left information about area attractions but frankly, we never felt the need to leave the property. We spent our time exploring the house or sinking into any one of numerous intimate sitting areas. The need for fresh air was satisfied by walking along the great trails located right in front of the house.
The house has been beautifully restored and decorated. It is obvious that this was a labor of love. We feel extremely fortunate to have been able to stay here if only for a little while. We enjoyed our stay so much that we’re trying to make up a reason to come back!
What an amazing house and lovely host!!!
Thank you again Suzanne for giving us the opportunity to stay in your beautiful house! It's always an amazing time with great friends. See you next year!!!
Sooo incredibly BEAUTIFUL! The Retreat is the most magical, peaceful and amazing home! ❤️
My daughter’s wedding was at Breaux vineyard but I had no idea that The Retreat would be the place we would love and appreciate the most! The house made the weekend perfect! Can’t wait to see our photos!! Thank you Suzanne for all you did to make the house a work of art and then share it with us!!
Gorgeous home and wonderful experience!
This house was absolutely stunning. I stayed here with a group of my girlfriends for an annual wine weekend tour we do, in a different area each year. Everyone was in love with the retreat and so impressed I was able to find this house. The decor was beautiful, with perfectly designed rustic charm. The house has been updated with every amenity, and the host made sure to provide both sensible amenities (huge trash can in the kitchen tons of towels in the bathrooms, extra blankets on beds, the house heated appropriately even given its size and age) as well as special touches (lavender pillow spray on the nightstands, nice bath products, welcome letters with the long history of the home). Highly recommend!
WOW! Mind blown! The inside is beyond gorgeous! The house was something that you would see inside of a magazine. I stayed here the night before my wedding with a few members of our wedding party, and it was such a dream. I could not believe that we were waking up in a palace! The place was so clean, the kitchen was supplied with coffee and tea and plenty of towels and toiletries. I can't wait to see the pictures my photographer took of me with my wedding dress on in the master bedroom!
Incredible manor house sits on terraces overlooking the Shenandoah River, with over 5 miles of paved trails along the river directly in front of the house. The Appalachian trail is just 3 miles away. Fine dining, popular wedding venues, wineries, and shopping are all within easy driving distance.
