Harbour Retreat - a holiday cottage that sleeps 4 guests in 2 bedrooms
Harbour Retreat is a beautifully renovated property; the living area is bright and superbly finished and detailed and, along with the master bedroom, has fabulous views of the quay. If the plan for your holiday is relaxation then try sitting by the open French doors with a glass of wine watching the bustle of a busy village harbour, little blue passenger ferries heading over to Falmouth and the sound of waves lapping against the harbour wall.
St Mawes is one of Cornwall's most desirable holiday destinations and the stunning harbour surrounded by lovely local shops, restaurants, bars and hotels is a constant bustle of vibrancy during the season. There is a never ending variety of boating to keep the view changing - kayaks paddling out of the harbour, regular ferry passenger services to Falmouth and other destinations up the Fal estuary, the constant bustle of sailing boats, both large and small, and shipping movements further out to sea will keep all amused. During the winter it is a quiet, peaceful village that rarely sees frosts or snow.
First Floor: Harbour Retreat is set on one level. On entering the property there is a hallway with doors leading to: second bedroom with twin zip and link beds, hanging rail and chest of drawers. Family bathroom with shower over, WC and hand basin. The hallway opens out into the open plan, double aspect living, kitchen and dining area with views of the harbour. Please note that, since the photographs were taken, the bay window at the side of the property has been removed and has been replaced by a flush window. The kitchen has fully fitted units, there are comfortable sofas, a dining table and French doors that open out onto a small balcony. A further door leads to the master bedroom with 5' bed with wardrobe and views of the harbour. A further door leads to the en-suite shower room with WC and hand basin.
Exterior: Small balcony to the front of the property, walkway to the entrance door to the rear of the property from Bohella Road.

Great stay at Harbour Retreat
We were delighted with Harbour Retreat. We use holiday lets 2 or 3 times per year and it’s rare they are as clean or well maintained as Harbour Retreat. It really is a lovely property; nice and bright and cosy, with a superb view and so central. We thought the décor was great. Also, we loved all of the extra little touches, such as the cream tea. Everything was handled so professionally and it was a breath of fresh air not to have a long list of rules in the welcome pack.
Will definitely return and recommend to others.
A great apartment & location.
We enjoyed St Mawes at its best. The apartment was spacious and welcoming - Beautifully fitted out with all the essentials need for a weeks holiday.
Harbour Retreat : Excellent Apartment and Location.
Harbour Retreat is a excellent place to stay in St Maws. Its location is ideal and the facilities provided are everything you could require. My family and I have had a wonderful time and would highly recommend the apartment.
Great location with lovely view from balcony......although harbour obscured by roof of building in front. Apartment excellent boutique style with top end kitchen / bathroom fittings, etc.
St Mawes is beautiful with some great walking from the apartment or ferry ride to Place and St Anthony's Head.
Some great pubs, restaurant within 100 metres from the apartment. Also an excellent butcher and Coop store nearby.
The best self catering property we have ever stayed in! A great view of the harbour, but just far enough away to be able to sit in private on the balcony, beautifully furnished, immaculately clean and with some lovely touches. Five stars all round! We would definitely hope to return again one day soon.
Great place in a lovely setting
A lovely apartment set in a very central location at the heart of St. Mawes.
The apartment is very well furnished with quality furniture, fittings and lovely comfy bed.
Great view from the front over the bay.
In fact the only downside to this property is getting your luggage into it, particularly if you are not overly young or fit. The nearest you can get your car is about about 100 yds. away.
Apart from the access it's a great place with all the local shops, pubs and restaurants and the ferry to Falmouth on your doorstep.
It's a good base from which to tour the local countryside.
St Mawes is one of the finest waterside villages in Cornwall. Situated overlooking an idyllic bay on the eastern side of the famous Falmouth Estuary, St Mawes has one of the mildest climates in Britain due to its proximity to the Gulf Stream. The sea is at the heart of the village and has helped to shape St Mawes from the little fishing village to the fashionable holiday destination that is so popular with visitors. A mecca for boating enthusiasts, St Mawes is a particularly popular sailing centre. Weekly club racing, village regattas and larger events are commonplace on the superb waters of the bay all through the summer. St Mawes has so much to offer the visitor. St Mawes Castle was built by Henry VIII and is a splendid place to take in the views of the Carrick Roads. There are miles of coastal and countryside walks to take in and some idyllic beaches on which to relax and watch the world go by. The little Place ferry takes visitors to explore St Anthony's Head or there are regular ferries to Falmouth. Being situated on the seafront, the village is also known for the restaurants and pubs that serve superb fish and shellfish dishes all year round. There is a selection of pubs & hotels with restaurants (including the renowned Tresanton Hotel) all within easy walking distance. There is a range of shops all within a few minutes' walk including a Cooperative store, Post Office, chemist, butcher, baker and art & clothes shops. The village also has both a doctor's and a dentist's surgery. Events on the Roseland reach fever point in August when sailing regattas, carnivals, fayres and fun days take place all over the Roseland and the waters of the Carrick Roads. It is a memorable place for many people who return year after year to enjoy the magic of this beautiful place.
