charming, well located, fantastic view and perfect host
The flat is charming and clean, the view from the balcony over the city and the sea (sunrise) is fantastic. It is well located if you want to travel the island by public bus (which is very attractive for hiking), even the north and the south side of Tenerife and also exploring the towns of the island. Across the house is a little supermarket, also it's not far to the center of Santa Cruz with it's shops, pedestrian zone and museums.
Communication with Maite was very easy and fast from beginning, Veronica, Maite's sister who gave me the keys and showed me the flat, was very pleasant and careful. I got fresh ham, cheese, milk, juice and water for welcome. Food as noodles, coffee, tea, spices, etc. are also in the kitchen.
I enjoyed the stay very much and hope i come again. Thank you Maite and Veronica.
Santa Cruz de Tenerife is known for its carnival, declared Festival of International Tourist Interest and considered one of the most famous in the world. But of course it is much more than that !! And I will prove it with this little tour that will extend to La Laguna. Curiously first say that the formal gentilicio of the city of Santa Cruz. However, it has popularized the use of the nickname "chicharrero" to designate the inhabitants of the municipality. It was originally a derogatory term that residents of San Cristobal de La Laguna appointed the people of Santa Cruz, given the habit of consuming these peas, cheap and low quality accessible to the humble fish port neighbors. Over time, the people of Santa Cruz assumed the nickname themselves as their own, coming to extend its use to designate the inhabitant of Tenerife in general. Historic architecture: defensive constructions: San Cristobal Castle: It was the first fortification of significance of the island of Tenerife and the main pillar of the defensive set of the Bay of Santa Cruz. Only a few walls of the original building, which can be seen in an underground gallery of the Plaza of Spain retained. The well-known Castle Street is named after the defunct fortress. Castle of San Juan Bautista: popularly known as Black Castle for being next to the Caleta de Negros. It was built in the first half of the seventeenth century and rebuilt in 1765. On your left is the Auditorio de Tenerife, right César Manrique Maritime Park and across the Torres de Santa Cruz. It is a strong circular coastal artillery plant. It is the best preserved of the island and the Spanish Historical Heritage. Castillo de San Andrés: helped defend the island from pirate attacks. It was ruined by several avenues of nearby ravine. In 1949 it is declared Spanish Heritage and in 1999 a Cultural Canary Islands (BIC). Fort Almeyda: It was a great defensive fortress of Santa Cruz, the mid-nineteenth century, with more than 40 guns. It houses the Historical Military Museum of the Canary Islands. Religious buildings: Iglesia de la Concepción: built on the first hermitage that constructed the Spanish conquerors after landing on the coast of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. It is a sample of the baroque canary and it is sheltered cross the founding of the city. Church of St. Francis of Assisi: one of the best known and oldest churches in the city. parks: Parque García Sanabria: built in 1926, and reopened in 2006 after 18 months of construction, it covers an area of 67 000 m2, making it the largest urban park in the city. Inside is the traditional flower clock. Farm Park: usual spot for sports and relaxation. Palmetum Santa Cruz de Tenerife. It is a botanical garden of 12 hectares of extension dedicated to the palms. Protected areas: The municipality owns part of the protected area Anaga Rural Park, as well as all the nature reserves of Ijuana, El Pijaral and Roques de Anaga. THE LAGOON: San Cristobal de La Laguna was founded on the banks of the old lagoon Aguere. This gap had to be dynamited at the time due to the state of water, dried and resulted in the growth of the city. It was founded between 1496 and 1497 by Alonso Fernández de Lugo and named capital of the Cabildo de Tenerife, being situated in the interior of the island and thus free of looting by pirates. After the conquest, the island of Tenerife quickly became the most populated of the Canary Islands and La Laguna in the most important urban center of the archipelago.
