After a typical Portuguese sand road of about 1. 2 km you arrive at the beautifully situated Quinta da Redonda. The view during the day is breathtaking and the starry sky magnificent at night. The traces of the forest fires of 2017 are gradually being erased, fortunately ... You hear the soft rustling of the river Alva with the waterfall. The house itself offers all the necessary comfort with an equipped kitchen, one bathroom with bath and one with shower, a cool sitting area, a beautiful open dining area in the bay window, an authentic corridor and 4 bedrooms. In the garden and on the terrace it is lovely to stay, but even better are the river and the swimming pool. In the river you can swim in the middle of nature, especially surrounded by birds. The pool is large enough to really swim and on one side so deep that you can dive from the diving board. For people who love nature and privacy it is a fantastic place, for children (not the smallest seen the water and the stairs) it is an adventurous place where they can fully discover. The water comes from a spring in our own garden, it contains too much iron to drink (but it is wonderful to bathe), for that we use large water bottles that are very cheap everywhere. Fruit grows and flowers abundantly and can be consumed at will. We provide the house with a good working mobile wifi, a TV with DVDs and google chromecast. Nobody bothers you during your holiday and yet it is not isolated. There are a lot of possibilities for excursions in the area, so you can also explore the region.
4 bedrooms with 3 double beds and 1 bunk bed, downstairs both with air conditioning, above a fan (it always cools off at night). Especially with open window (and mosquito window) sleep is recommended, the sound of the waterfall makes for a great night's sleep)
2 completely renovated bathrooms (one with bath, shower and toilet, one with shower and toilet)
Kitchen: very nice dining area in the bay with view on the beautiful nature around, further equipped with hob and oven, fridge, microwave, dishwasher, dolce gusto machine, toaster, and all the equipment to prepare a delicious meal and serve .. although food in the local restaurants is very cheap and quite tasty. In the cupboards you will also find extra material, basic herbs and the like, a first aid kit and sewing kit, play equipment.
The terrace is equipped with a new garden table, chairs and a large parasol and is a lovely place to read or surf (on the internet). There is also a small bbq.
Heating: central heating on fuel oil and fireplace with ample stock of eucalyptus wood
Swimming pool: in the garden is a beautiful swimming pool (275 cm deep on one side) with diving board. Also next to the pool is lovely with deck chairs, a parasol and a basic outdoor kitchen with a barbecue and a small fridge.
Beautiful garden with direct access to the river Alva. At the entrance the water is shallow, with some rocks, further down it is deeper and great for swimming.
The sitting room with fireplace is cool even in the hottest seasons, comfortably furnished with two sofas, a bookcase full of different types of books, lots of DVDs and a DVD player, a google chromecast that works with the mobile wifi and the seasonal paintings of Dali.
The corridor is decorated with niches with all kinds of local curios and lights. Be sure to check out the owl!
The terraces are built on different levels and with reasonably high stairs. For small children, vigilance is required, also because of the freely accessible water.
The garden also offers relaxation possibilities, just think of badminton, kubb, .... or just a quiet walk through it.
Many excursions and activities in the area. Coja itself has a very attractive village square, does a bit of Provence, with wine at 80 cents and a beer at 1 euro; local markets that are absolutely recommended, also to eat something on the spot, waterfalls, the picturesque Piodao, the enchanting Gois, cycling and hiking (best with GPS), Viseu, kayaking on the Mondego, the highest mountain in the portugal Serra da Estrela, on warm days the beautiful ocean beaches are a must, which is also the world famous pilgrimage towns Tomar and Fatima. We deliver a home book with practical information and exit possibilities.
The 1.2 km long access road is typical of Portugal, a dirt road, here and there somewhat rocky. This does not cause problems at low speed. The quinta is on the river, which is never easily accessible, but well worth it!
