This delightful traditional cottage in Malpas village has a stunning location over looking the upper navigable reaches of the Fal River at the point where the Fal, Truro and Tresillian rivers all converge. There is no better place to unwind and relax than casting your eye across the water towards St Michael Penkevil, the Tregothnan Estate and Old Kea. Just down the road (50m) is the beautiful Heron Inn with award winning cuisine and beer from one of the regions best breweries, St Austell Brewery.

This reverse level property has tastefully decorated bedrooms on the ground floor, a zip and link twin / double to the front and a master with en suite shower room to the rear. Upstairs is a brilliant open plan living / dining and kitchen area, with vaulted ceilings and velux windows creating a bright, spacious feel. The views from the front window across the creek are glorious, the back door leads to a steep, terraced garden with barbecue area and at the top a wonderful deck with large table and chairs and magnificent views across the river. There is no better spot to while away the hours with a cool glass of wine!


Ground floor: The front door leads into a hallway, stairs leading to first floor and doors leading to; Twin / double bedroom to the front with zip and link beds and storage. Master bedroom to rear with 5' bed, storage and digital TV, further door leading to ensuite shower room.

First floor: Open plan, double aspect, kitchen / living / dining area. L shaped comfortable sofa, dining table and chairs, large, digital, flat screen Smart TV, fully fitted kitchen with Belfast sink. Rear corridor with alcove for washing machine and tumble drier, further family bathroom with L shaped shower bath, WC and hand basin, locked linen cupboard. Corridor leads to external door leading to rear garden.

Exterior: Steps leading from road up to small terrace in front of the property. To the rear is a steep garden that has been levelled in stages with a gravelled area with barbecue and a higher patio with amazing views of the river.

Facilities & Services

Heating is via electric on demand radiators. The kitchen is fully fitted with a range of units. There is an electric oven and hob, a microwave, toaster, kettle and fridge / freezer. There is a washing machine and tumble dryer. There is a dishwasher. The lounge area has a Flatscreen digital Freeview Smart TV including Netflix, Radio. There is free superfast WiFi at the property. There is an iron & ironing board. There is a cot and high chair available.


Electricity, heating, bed linen and towels are all included but you will need to bring your own beach towels. One well behaved dog is welcome at an additional £25 per week. Dogs must not be left unattended in the property. Regrettably no smoking is allowed. Parking is on the street outside the property and cannot be reserved.

General Booking Information

Arrival / Departure is normally a Saturday.

Short breaks are available during the quieter months of the year.

£150 pre-authorised to your credit or debit card as a security deposit is required.

Discounts available for couples staying for 7 nights outside the peak season, using one room only.

Easter Break

A wonderfully presented and equipped cottage. Fantastic base for seeing Cornwall. Great for young families with the park and cafe 5 minuets away. The terrace gives fantastic views of the river.

The Herron pub is one of the best in Cornwall, very child and dog friendly.

Delightful comfortable cottage

We had a very comfortable and cosy time at Heron's Catch, during a particularly cold and snowy week. It was extremely well equipped and well placed to explore that part of Cornwall. We would return in a instant.

Stylish cottage overlooking the river with all mod cons near Truro.

Lovely location by the river close to Truro. There is a good size park nearby with children's adventure area,tennis courts and two cafes. Truro itself is a main shopping area with plenty of cafes, restaurants and also a theatre and cinema.

The cottage is an original fisherman's cottage that has been stylishly modernised inside with an ensuite to the main bedroom. The living area is upstairs to allow access to views of the river and is very light and airy. The Wi fi is quick and free so it's easy to stay in touch if you need to.The local pub in Malpas ( The Heron) has a good selection of well kept beer and nice food if you don't want to cook and would like to relax with a nice glass of wine!. This is the second time I have stayed in the cottage and I would definitely book this particular cottage again on my next visit to the area.

Amazing location

We were delighted when we arrived at the property and found it to be charming and tastefully decorated. The view is amazing and a lovely friendly pub only a few doors away.

The unexpected welcome pack is very thoughtful and adds a personal touch.
