Watlington is renowned for its beauty, both as a 'town' & its surrounding areas
My husband and I are 'Aussies' through and through, however we have hearts that strangely also belong to England! I love to restore homes and Kate's Cottage & Plum Tree Cottage are our latest projects of love! We love giving homes (and people!) a second chance - and so in restoring these cottages it has been all about being true to the character of the original homes, whilst bringing them a touch of 'the now'! I also am PASSIONATE about 'showing off' this area! It truly is beautiful - so much so - we moved in to the village too!

Really lovely property, beautifully equipped and loads to do on the doorstep. The garden is gorgeous and the little sitting area looking out onto the garden a real bonus. The beds were very comfortable and everywhere very homely and cosy. Kath was so helpful and friendly and easy to communicate with
Love it when guests feel this way! We love to make the cottage as welcoming as possible so that the holiday starts as soon as you arrive! Cheers Helen - great guests!
Such a lovely cottage
We absolutely loved the cottage, which was a great fit for our family of four.
SO pleased you had a great stay at the cottage Evi! Always a pleasure to host a lovely family!
Beautiful cottage with wonderful garden
This cottage is located in a residential area of the lovely village of Watlington. Oxford is only 30 minutes away. Also London and main attractions such as Blenheim, Windsor, Henley.
The cottage is semi detached, with neighbours left, right and at the back. It was pretty quiet though. Any problems were quickly resolved by owner Kate.
The best feature is the large living/dining room with doors opening to the lovely garden. As we love stretching out on the couch, it would have been great to gave a second couch in the living room.
Bath room on first floor was luxurious. Kids bed room spacious. As was the master bed room upstairs, under the sloped roof. There was no door though, so any adult activities upstairs ran the risk of detection by our four year old.
Forgot to mention the extra sitting room/tv room downstairs. Did not use it much, but great to have.
We can very much recommend this cottage!
Glad you enjoyed your lovely long 'summer stay' at our cottage! Thanks for the write up - appreciate!
Unbelievable cottage to the highest standard.
We stay in many cottages up and down Britain and have found this one of the best we have stayed at, the decor and furnishings are all done to a very high standard. The kitchen is anyone's dream kitchen! The bathroom is to die for and the upper bedroom is unbelievable. Gardens are also beautifully designed. We will certainly be back. Watlington village/town is also well worth a visit as it has a fantastic deli and butcher.
Many thanks Jonathan. Really love that you enjoyed your stay and look forward to welcoming you again. All the best. Kath.
You know those houses that look great on the photos, but when you get there...
...they're really "not all that"? This isn't one of those! The photos really do it justice - the garden and the kitchen seating area are two of the most relaxing places I have ever been! Can't recommend this place highly enough - thank you Kath x
MY goodness Sarah! Thank you for your review. You must come back when the garden is really in its prime!! We do love gardening and are privileged to be able to make this one special. So glad you enjoyed! All the best. Kath
An idyllic property in an idyllic spot
Kate's Cottage was even more lovely in reality than the super photos had led us to expect! The beautiful summer weather enabled us to enjoy it at its best, with the kitchen doors fully open for most of our stay.
Inside, the cottage was very well equipped, again exceeding our expectations with little touches such as spare toiletries. We slept in the top bedroom which we loved, but anyone very tall would have to duck!
Watlington itself is lovely, and the surrounding area - we did a 6 mile circular walk around Thame - is gorgeous.
Kath's personal welcome, little notes around the cottage, comprehensive instruction book and leaflets for local activities were all excellent too.
We really enjoyed our stay - and look forward to returning.
What a delight it was to host you both! Am mightily impressed that you walked the Thame Circular! Again, many thanks for you very kind review. All the best. Kath.
Although this is GREAT walking territory, sadly we cannot accept dogs, as our garden is too precious to us! We also feel that keeping pets in the house affects future guests' enjoyment of the cottage. Hoping you understand.
