About Peter and Angela Stoney
Peter and Angela met in Stockport, UK and have been married for over 30 years. We have 2 grown up children and have visited many Greek islands during the last 25 years with and without the family. We kept being drawn back to Kefalonia as the most beautiful island of all those we visited and decided to buy some land and build our Villa in 2006. Villa Petra was completed in 2007 and we now offer Villa Petra for rental to give others the opportunity to experience its wonderful location and to enjoy the beauty of Kefalonia and all it has to offer visitors.
Peter and Angela Stoney purchased this Villa in 2007
Why Peter and Angela Stoney chose Karavados
After spending one full week visiting many plots of land for sale on Kefalonia we decided that Karavados was the perfect location for a new Villa. We stood in an empty field and admired the fantastic views that would be available from the front looking down to the sea and mountains. We both agreed this was the spot and signed on the dotted line. Within 18 months the field had been transformed into what you can see today on the photos and we hope you will get the chance to experience the beauty of Villa Petra and Kefalonia.
What makes this Villa unique
Fantastic Views; Great location; Edge of a typical Greek Village; Overlooks the sea, mountains and island of Zante in the distance; Close to the capital, Argostoli and to many great sandy beaches; Quiet, relaxing and peaceful; Modern luxurious interior with quality finishes and materials; Own private swimming pool; Restaurant close by; A quiet sandy cove, St. Thomas beach, just down the road; Local village supermarket 5 minutes walk away; Helpful local neighbours; One of the most beautiful of all the Greek islands.

Just got back from two weeks in Villa Petra and had an amazing holiday. Pictures on website do not do justice to the actual villa and the views from it.
From the outset Peter and Angela could not have been more helpful in answering my questions and provided all the information we needed, including directions and recommendation for an excellent hire car company (competitive and no excesses).
The villa was immaculately kept and clearly a lot of thought has gone into its design and furnishing. As a result, it felt more like a home than a holiday rental. All the the bedrooms are spacious and comfortable, which is further assisted by en-suites and air conditioning. Downstairs is open plan (more air conditioning) with a large well stocked kitchen and generous sized fridge freezer.
The outside area is well maintained and we spent a lot of time here. The outside dining area is spacious and shaded and the swimming pool was brilliant.
Our favourite feature were the balconies on both bedrooms that had amazing views of the sea and the stunning mountains. Sitting on these in the evening enjoying the views and the sounds was incredible.
The pool and the villa were also cleaned regularly when we were there.
We had never been to Kefalonia before and fell in love with island. There is a shop and an excellent restaurant a few hundred yards up the road. There are several small beaches within a 5-10 minute drive that were amazing. The water is crystal clear and warm, and they are relatively secluded so you can avoid the masses. The local one at St Thomas and nearby Pessada were our favourites (for the Pessada one go round the rocks to the right for picture book secluded beach).
It terms of outings we went on an organised boat trip from Agostolli which was good. However, our favourite trip was when we hired our own boat and went exploring all the coastline and the beaches that you can only access by sea. We went from Lourdas but if we had time would have also hired a boat from another somewhere further north as well to see even more of the island.
Overall we had an incredible holiday and would strongly recommend Villa Petra and Kefalonia. Our only disappointment was that it was already booked for the dates we wanted next year as we would have gone back again then, however, we will definitely go back again in the future.
Our week in Paradise
We have (sadly) just returned from our first week’s stay at Villa Petra. I say first, because we very much hope to
From the very first time we communicated with the owners, Peter and Angela, we knew this was going to be a very special holiday - and we weren’t wrong.
The villa is absolutely perfect - and the views breathtaking. Totally private. The air conditioning throughout was a godsend. The pool is a perfect size for a family of 4 and it took some serious persuading to get our children out of it in order to visit any of the glorious beaches (the nearest beach St Thomas’ was our favourite by far 😍).
We LOVED our week in Kefalonia at Villa Petra, and hope we get the chance to return. Do not hesitate to book this very special place. Thank you Peter and Angela for sharing your stunning villa.
Very nice time in a very nice place, Agios Thomas just down the road. Would recommend to anyone.
Everything was great
I’d just like to say to anyone thinking of using this villa, don’t hang around. Our experience from stat to finish was great. A fantastic villa and great value for money. Situated at the bottom side of the village, it was very private and not too far from surrounding eating houses, ( our favourite was the family run Enastron a 2 min drive, you can walk but will need a torch)
Agastolli is a 25 min drive. Fiskardo is some 55 miles or so distance and Sami and Skala 30 ish. A car hire is essential really to visit the rest of the island.
I can only say now “we’ll be back”
Dear Phil and Kate,
Thank you for your kind review of Villa Petra and Kefalonia. We are so glad that you enjoyed your holiday and look forward to welcoming you back in the future.

A relaxing base for visiting a lovely island.
From our first contact with the owners they were very prompt in getting back to us and always very helpful. The villa is in a perfect location for touring the island and has a local shop and an excellent restaurant that can be reached on foot, but a car is a necessity for getting out and about.
We should have looked closer at what was provided, as we have always had a dishwasher, microwave and parasols with weighted bases around the pool in every villa we have ever stayed at in this price range. On days that we stayed around the pool, we seemed to be washing up all day.
The a/c is great and the maid service was excellent. The pool man never disturbed us and kept the pool perfect.
Another useful addition would be a book for guests to leave feedback, as we normally find this a source of trips to make and restaurants to visit. There may be one, but we never found it.
So 4/5 from us.However, only minor points, but they maybe useful for other guests.
Thank you for your feedback and review of Villa Petra and the Island of Kefalonia. We are glad that in the main you seemed to have enjoyed your holiday. We are obviously a little disappointed that this is the first and only 4 star review during the last 6 years for Villa Petra with 34 other guests awarding our Villa 5 stars. In response to a few minor negative points, everything we provide is clearly stated on the HomeAway/Owners Direct web site details so every potential guest is fully aware before they book that there is no dishwasher or microwave. We have never stayed at a Villa for 4 people during our lifetime that has had Parasols with weighted bases and have only ever experienced such things in Greece at Hotels with large pools. However, we will investigate possible options for placing one of these around our pool area for 2019.
We do not have a guest feedback book in our Villa as most guests leave a review on the web site as you have done and you will have hopefully researched all these reviews before you booked. We also provide inside our Villa a Welcome Book with details of trips, beaches, areas of interest and restaurants to visit together with a basket of leaflets on Kefalonia attractions and things to do.
As you know from our web site information our Villa has a maximum occupancy of 4 people and we went out of our way to accommodate 5 people for your family as one was a baby which we then arranged a cot and high chair for and we also provided a complimentary free of charge welcome pack for your family as you were arriving with a baby.
In hindsight you should have perhaps been looking for and booking much larger accommodation that clearly advertised that it contained all the facilities that you required.
Despite your minor negative points we do hope that you enjoyed your visit and had a good holiday in Kefalonia.

Beautiful villa with lovely sea and mountain views
We had a fantastic holiday. The villa was lovely. It was clean and comfortable and the outside area was perfect for relaxing day and night. The views from the balcony's are lovely and it's so peaceful there. We would definitely stay here again
Villa Petra is set in a stunning location at the edge of the small typically Greek village of Karavados. Karavados is an ideal location for staying in Kefalonia and has fantastic views of the Mount Aenos mountain range and looks down to the turquoise Ionian Sea with the island of Zante visible in the distance.
The village of Karavados has the 'Happiness' restaurant and bar within five minutes walk from the Villa which also has a small mini market attached and there is a wonderful Greek restaurant, Enastron, just a 15 - 20 minute walk away. The wonderful quiet unknown sandy coves of St. Thomas beach are just down the road from Villa Petra, a 20-25 minute walk or a couple of minutes by car where there are a further two tavernas. The beach of St. Thomas is located at the base of a mountain in scenic, craggy, pine-covered terrain, surrounded by citrus trees. A small, flattish plain lies between the village and the coast, where the road drops sharply to the beach. Agios Thomas also known as St Thomas derives it’s name from the chapel which is built on the hill above. Surrounded by cliffs Agios Thomas beach is really two small sandy coves where the water is shallow, calm and resembles blue glass. If you like snorkelling and diving then this place is a good choice. This beach is good for families and an ideal place to relax.
The villa is only a 15 minute drive from the airport and the capital Argostoli is only a 20 minute drive away. Lassi, with several more stunning sandy beaches is again around 20 minutes drive. The Castle of St. George and Lourdas are close by and well worth visiting.
The owners spent several years researching before deciding on the location for the Villa which gives an ideal base for exploring Kefalonia and gives some of the most spectacular views available on the island from it's balconies and terrace/pool area.
