Five Stars on Moorea

  • 5 of 5

Staying in Alain and Joselyn's tiki hut bungalow ranks as one of the highlights of my 24 day stay in Tahiti. Going to bed at nite to the sound of the surf. The wonderful warmth of A and J's hospitality. The charming tiki hut interior. The privacy. The A+ location on the best lagoon on Moorea, in some ways nicer than Bora Bora's. The lush tropical grounds. in a word, the place oozes local Tahitian color and pleasure. Within an hour of getting off the ferry, I found everything I traveled to Tahiti in search of: an endless sapphire-jade lagoon to get lost in. the tiki hut bungalow within range of my flip flops.

Happy and relaxing

  • 5 of 5

We wanted a relaxed atmosphere and got it. Alain and Joselyne have a wonderful compound,

which includes their house, their shop, and this bungalow. We were greeted by Joselyne and were given an orientation of the area. A fresh fruit platter was provided each week. (By the way, it's best to put the fruit in the refrigerator as there was a hungry gecko in the house. We were amused by the things he would try to get into.) The bungalow is comfortable and nicely decorated with Alain's artwork throughout. Pippa, their dog, would come by and hang out with us daily. She was welcomed, as we were missing our dog.

The weather varied with sun, wind, and rain. Their beach is mostly washed up coral and is not sheltered by a barrier reef. So, we would drive the short distance to the local public beach to lay out and snorkel. You could walk to it, but we just loaded up the car with our supplies for the outing.

Both Alain and Joselyne were wonderful hosts. We knew they were around if needed. There was an issue with the ceiling fan, and it was fixed immediately. There was another issue with the washing machine. They washed the load, and offered to do more of our laundry until the machine was fixed.(It was fixed quickly.) And, they hosted a "cocktail hour", which we enjoyed learning a bit about them. Very interesting people. Be sure to make some time to talk with them.

Merci and maururu Alain and Joselyne!

a very enriching experience!

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I spent our honeymoon in this nice bungalow. It is definitely traditional Tahitian, with lovely native weavings, shells, and original paintings by the owners. We liked being inside it very much.

We sincerely enjoyed staying there - the short walk to the beach was perfect for beach-combing, sunrises, and sunsets.

Note that there is no air conditioning in the bungalow - we were there in early June, and the weather wasn't too humid. Though some days we would have appreciated AC, a shower before bed was sufficient. (And we could cool off when we got into our rental car.)

The kitchen is stocked well enough to get by on basic-to-intermediate meals. We shopped at the local grocery store and ate breakfast in the bungalow every day, and often lunch or dinner, too. Eating out is expensive on Moorea, so we think we saved some money this way.

Also note: plan to rent a car. Make a reservation online before you arrive. The island is easy to drive around and you won't get lost. There are many lovely things to see on all sides of Moorea.

Merci, Alain et Joselyne!!

Unique and Memorable

  • 4 of 5

As many have said, the property is gorgeous. Every little detail in this bungalow was considered in order to give the guest a true Polynesian experience. Even though you cannot swim on this property, a very nice beach is close by and you can still watch the waves and sunrises from the Kerebel's beach. The main reason for this stay: the bungalow. It's magical. Just make sure you rent a car so you can see the rest of the island :)

Great Vacation Spot!

  • 5 of 5

This property is absolutely gorgeous. You can watch the whales just steps away from your door and a pleasant ten minute walk takes you to an incredible swimming beach. We started every day with a long swim in the crystal clear waters. Our hosts could not have been better. They were extremely helpful with anything we needed. They provided transport from the airport and to the ferry and were eager to offer advice about Moorea. They are both quite talented artist and viewing their artwork was quite a treat. The bungalow is wonderfully decorated with an artist's eye for detail. This an excellent choice if you are looking for a quiet and peaceful place.

Perfect

  • 5 of 5

Our 10-day stay was better than imaged. We were picked up at the ferry, taken to local supermarket and then on the Motu Tamae, speaking English and given local information by the beautiful Joscelyn all the way. Entering the property was breathtaking. It is truly Polynesia.. A bountiful platter of fruit on the table, the sounds of the sea outside, and the shade of the coconut palms, the eye-catching art all around had us smiling with the knowledge we had chosen the right place. Other reviewers have stated many of the features I would highlight. No need for me. Even if everything wasn't as great has written, Joscelyn and Alain are. They are the reason you should come.
