About Maria and Tony Conlan
We came here to stay and loved it so much we bought it! We had searched for many years throughout France for a rural idyll to call home and had never quite found the right one until we visited La Cour. We were instantly captivated by the wonderful old cottages and barns which still enchant us even now after enjoying many happy years here. We knew that La Cour would always be a very special place to stay. Thankfully the previous owners were looking to retire and so our dreams became a reality.
Maria and Tony Conlan purchased this Cottage in 2004
Why Maria and Tony Conlan chose Massérac
The things we love about La Cour are it's a wonderful place for a rural escape and is still within very easy reach of all the beaches, swimming lakes and other attractions on offer in Southern Brittany. The local village is only a short stroll with its boulangerie and Café Bar and the surrounding area offers picturesque countryside and is designated as a protected area of natural beauty.

Lovely week in a great cottage
We had a fantastic time in this lovely little cottage.
It has a fantastic garden & on arrival the cottage was really clean.
we were greeted by Maria & Tony who also left a lovely welcome pack of pastries & cider.
Wi-Fi was really handy and the bikes are lovely touch although we didn't use them this time. Maybe next time.
It was a great centre to explore this part of France and if we visit the area again we will definitely be back to Walnut Cottage

They had lit the log burning stove for us which was a lovely welcome, walnut cottage is compact cosy and has everything you need. We had a lovely week cottage is well situated to explore the coast and inland villages a week was not long enough and would loveto return at a different time of year to experience changes in the country side

Peaceful Retreat in Loire Atlantic
This was the second time that we have stayed at La Cour and were not disappointed, first time was in Woodland View and this time Walnut Cottage .Everything was exactly as described, exceptionally clean, well fitted out with everything needed for a comfortable holiday. The instructions on how everything worked was very comprehensive and the guides to places to visit was very helpful. As it was early in the season we had a lovely log burning stove going each evening, Tony kept us well stocked with logs.
Vannes was our favourite place to visit but there are several pretty towns and villages not too far away.. I would not hesitate in recommending La Cour to our friends and relatives. Tony and Marie are a charming couple and nothing is too much trouble for them.
It was such a great pleasure to welcome you back to La Cour and this time Walnut Cottage. Thank you so much for your lovely review, we are delighted that you enjoyed your holiday.

Wonderfully relaxing stay
We have stayed for a week at Walnut cottage almost every year for the last 15 years, and every time we cannot believe how wonderfully relaxing it is to stay in this part of Brittany. In the past we have driven there, but this time cycled from Roscoff - four easy days cycling on very quiet roads.
From the moment you arrive, to a very friendly greeting from Tony & Maria, the cottage and large private garden tell you the week is going to be a great relaxing break.
The cottage itself is well equipped with plenty of room for 4 people. It always seems to be warm and sunny for us (we've stayed in April, May and September), but the wood burner means that even if the weather turns colder you can stay warm indoors.
The private garden is very quiet, and with the deckchairs provided allows you to catch up on those unread books before firing up the barbeque ! At night the absence of street lighting lets you star gaze in absolute wonderment.
Paimbu is a very quiet hamlet, but shops, supermarkets, swimming pools are all close at hand; beaches and a wide selection of places to visit ( with or without children) are a relatively short drive away. Alternatively, just use the bicycles available for free to explore the local area including a route along the nearby river.
Tony & Maria live 'on site' and are always around to help with any queries or advice on places to visit - nothing is too much trouble for them it seems!
So, if you want a chance to escape the hurly burly of the daily grind, then Paimbu is THE place to find peace and quiet; we promise you won't be disappointed.
We are so pleased that you enjoyed your first cycling trip to Walnut Cottage! It is always a great pleasure to welcome you back. We really appreciate you taking the time to leave your kind review.
This was the fourth visit and it just keeps getting better each time - and the first time was brilliant! The cottage is small, cosy, traditional, well appointed and you just feel at home the moment you walk in. The information packs inside are very helpful, and a quick look in the visitors` book lets you know there have been very many satisfied customers, a lot of them repeat visitors. The whole location is beautifully kept, quiet, and in a hamlet that makes no attempt to be anything but French. If real France is what you,re looking for, look no further. There are bikes on site, just help yourself, a laundry room and each of the four properties has its own private garden if you want your meal outside (you will) or a quiet day. There is so much to see locally either by cycle or just walking, but within easy reach by car are towns, villages, markets, restaurants, the coast, swimming lakes - put simply, however long your holiday, you will run out of time before you run out of things to do, rain OR shine! Maria and Tony, the owners and your hosts, are welcoming, friendly and always on hand and willing to give advice if requested. That said, they have a gift for being circumspect - they are always on hand but hardly ever seen while managing to make you feel welcome and ensuring your stay is perfect. Its an art form and they are to be congratulated for the balance that makes the place so different from others. The property would suit those looking for a quiet holiday, or those who seek more as it is all within easy distance, couples or those with children old young or in between. It is a place that effortlessly provides you a wonderful platform for you to make the holiday whatever you want it to be. In a word - fantastic!
Thankyou so much for your wonderful comments. It’s always really rewarding for us to know that our guests have had a great holiday (or even 4!) We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back in the future.
Begin your day by taking a gentle 5-minute stroll to the friendly local boulangerie to buy your fresh bread and croissants for breakfast. The village also offers a cafe bar and a grocery shop. Another 10 minutes away are the lively towns of Redon and Guemene-Penfao where you will find supermarkets, outdoor/indoor swimming pools, canoe hire for paddling along the River Don and pony trekking. You will enjoy wandering through local markets and the ambience of historic towns and villages. The stunning beaches of South West Brittany are within easy reach or you may prefer to enjoy the many beautiful natural swimming lakes with beaches close by. For the more energetic, the area is a walking and cycling paradise, there is also plenty of opportunity to fish or play a round of golf. For families there are many fun attraction parks, animal parks and aquariums or why not plan a day out on one of the large range of bicycles from child to adult sizes which are available free of charge, there are even child bicycle trailers and child seats for any younger members of the family. The wonderful situation of La Cour allows you to easily discover many attractions or just relax and enjoy the rural tranquility.
