Fabulous location in exceptional NYC apartment!!

  • 5 of 5

A perfect get-away to NYC---subways, theater, history, incredible sights--all while staying in the Lower East Side, Apartment #5. The apartment was perfect for two and can accommodate four. It is exactly as pictured on VRBO. Everything we needed was there--from a coffee maker and a toaster to a comfortable king-sized bed and fluffy towels. Subway within five blocks, restaurants everywhere, grocery store at end of the block. Owner gave us all the basic information we needed for our stay and we figured out the rest. Be sure to have theater, Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island, walking tours and Top of the Rock tickets before you leave home. Have fun--we did!!

Clean and surprisingly quiet in East Village

  • 4 of 5

This property was clean and met our needs. It was about the size of a large hotel room, so not much elbow room with beds set for 5 of us, but the layout was as good as it could be. The beds were futon mattresses on plywood frames, so while not uncomfortable, not the best support. The linens and towels were good quality. The kitchen area was NYC standard I guess but adequate and Whole Foods was about a 6 block walk. Subway stations were about 6 blocks as well. It was very quiet on the first floor (one flight of stairs in)--only heard someone above us the last night. Was surprised to find on street free parking that was quite plentiful from 7-11am on Saturday and Sunday, but even at 9pm Friday we found a spot for our SUV within 2 blocks. The price was very high, in my opinion, but this is Lower Manhattan in the summertime and not much economy lodging for a family of five who wanted to be within walking distance of NYU (to move in our eldest for freshman year). Wifi was excellent. Felt safe in the neighborhood and apartment. Was greeted promptly and efficiently by the designated "host" and emails to the booking person and the property liaison person were answered promptly with excellent local information.

Clean, comfy East Village style. The garden was a delight.

  • 5 of 5

My daughter and I were "upgraded" to the garden level apartment (with a patio & garden, see photo) because she has a wheelchair. Even though the first floor was only up about 10-12 steps, I can't tell you how grateful I was not to have to carry the wheelchair up the steps. The apartment was clean and Tony and Lee could not have been more helpful getting us settled. The only windows were to the patio, but it was so lovely that we did not mind. It was also quiet, being on the back side of the building. The East Village is terrific -- so many eating spots and lots of energy. All in all, a delightful trip. Thank you Irma, Tony and Lee.

Newport Beach CA

Funky, eclectic apartment in an eclectic neighborhood.

  • 4 of 5

Great location in lower east side. Lots of energy in the neighborhood. Easy walk to restaurants an d subways. We stayed 8 nights. The apartments and the building need some TLC. Overall satisfactory but not great.

A pleasant East Village retreat

  • 3 of 5

There are some positives and negatives about this pleasant apartment. Number 1 and, most importantly, Tony, who manages the apartment, is one of the nicest, most available people we have had the pleasure of working with. He is ALWAYS there for you, beginning to end. He will answer any questions you may have and offer recommendations on just about any subject. He is a gem!!!!!

Our misgivings about the apartment is the lack of light and the furniture is not very comfortable. The bed was very comfortable but the chairs and couches were not. We did not spend a lot of time in the apartment so it didn't bother us very much. For a stay of a few days, the lack of comfort would not be an issue.

The apartment is VERY well equipped, even a washer/dryer. They even left soap for the washing machine. There was a hair dryer in the bathroom and the shower was great. Another positive was the small patio off the bedroom. If the weather is nice, it's a nice place to be and a change from the darkness of the apartment.

The location in the East Village is great....a short walk to everything and New York is the best walking city EVER!!!!

In conclusion, if you are bothered by a small dark apartment, it isn't for you but, if you don't let it bug you, you will enjoy Manhattan and the greatest manager an apartment could ever ask for.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. I presume you stayed in apartment #6 (the warhol apartment) because all others have double height ceilings and lots of light. But thank you for pointing it out, I shall write on the description more clearly that it does not get a lot of light from the windows! Happy you enjoyed your stay
