Brittany and Robert Gonzales
About Brittany and Robert Gonzales
Want to hear a love story? Once upon a time there was a boy and a girl who lived around the corner from each other in Nashville, Tennessee. It was a good life, but they worked all the time and, sadly, never met. But they shared this crazy dream of someday living on a tropical island. Somehow, some way, the girl moved to St. John in 2010, and the boy found her there when he moved in 2011. They fell in love, got married, bought some real estate and fixed it up real nice, and started Island Abodes! Brittany MacNealy was born and raised in the Mississippi delta. After college at Mississippi State (Hail State!) she moved to Nashville to run fundraising for a great nonprofit. Her parents will tell you that she dreamed of living at the beach since she was a little girl. So in 2010, after 5 cold” Nashville winters, she moved to St. John to be the Director of Fun at the Westin St. John. For 4 years she oversaw Resort activities and managed the pool and Kids Club. It was a great experience and awesome training for Island Abodes future GM! Robert Gonzales was born and raised in New Orleans and moved to Nashville in 1991 for law school at Vanderbilt. As a business lawyer, he specialized in restructuring companies. He worked hard and built a great practice. But ask his long time law partner or mentor and they’ll tell you something like “Robert always said he wouldn’t sit at a desk forever.” Twenty years in Nashville seemed like long enough. So, in 2011 he relocated to the islands he’d been visiting for over 10 years, met Brittany, and the rest is history! When were not helping guests, we love to explore the North Shore on paddle boards and hike the National Park trails with our “coconut retriever Morgan. Brittany also volunteers at Gifft Hill School and the Animal Care Center. And Robert is an ordained minister who officiates beach weddings. Hes also big into tropical fruit farming, so be sure to ask him whats ripe! We look forward to welcoming you!
Why Brittany and Robert Gonzales chose Estate Enighed
The location is close to all of Cruz Bay's bars, restaurants and shopping, but far enough away for peace and tranquility. And the views are spectacular!
Great Studio and Owners
The one bedroom studio was exactly as advertised. The screened in porch and oversized shower are terrific. Two minute ride to the supermarket and less than five minute ride to Cruz Bay.
Amazing view at the Papaya suite, ur suite was very accommodating and clean for our needs Loved it
Was very impressed with the Papaya suite , the layout was accommodating and the view absolutely gorgeous, very impressed with our hosts Brittany & Robert, they sent emails filled with great information regarding the island , things to do and also sent a ferry schedule that would be accommodating to out flight times.
Would definitely stay again.
It is great when you are traveling and arrive at your accommodations and it is exactly as your host has informed you , thank you Brittany & Robert for a wonderful experience

Great People; Great Location
Brittany and Robert are wonderful people and very attentive. I had not noticed that the Papaya Suite does not come with a cook-top, and I had planned to use with one quite extensively. They were able to round an electric one up for me within minutes of our arrival. We were even encouraged to pick ripe Papayas growing on the surrounding trees and had one every morning. The apartment had everything else we could want including beach chairs, water-noodles, masks, sunshade, and two coolers. You are underneath another unit, and can hear furniture moving and children running above you, if the occupants aren't aware there is someone below them. That did happen one night but also stopped quickly. We would definitely come back. You have a good view and are only a short (steep) drive to town. The upkeep on everything is really fantastic.
Very cute and charming place with amazing views
Great place, very kind and accommodating host. Well stocked and we didn’t need anything...We loved the views but would recommend the honeymoon suite and we will be getting it next...it has a massive back deck and would be well worth extra money in our opinion...Overall a great experience...
A Piece of Paradise!
We really enjoyed our stay at the Papaya Suite. They have done such a great job putting together a really nice, quiet, and CLEAN studio space. Wow! The sunset view is an extra bonus! Close enough to town if you want the island "night life" but, far enough away if you want to just "chill". We would highly recommend this quaint studio unit to any couple looking to get away to St. John without busting the budget. Promises you'll have a wonderful stay!!!
Amazing view and super sweet area and gorgeous room
This was the perfect spot for me and my wife, we stayed in the papya suit the place was super cute and had everything you would need, it was close to town, about 5 minutes away and the main beaches were close to. We loved staying here on our honeymoon and Brittany and her husband were supper helpful and did not mind answering any questions. We are hoping to go back next year and will definitely want to stay here again. I would highly recommend this place for anybody, remembering it is a smaller spot
St. John is truly the "Jewel of the Caribbean." Two-thirds of the island comprises the Virgin Islands National Park, with its many hiking trails and spectacular North Shore Beaches that are among the best in the world! We especially love hikes that lead to beaches...such as the Margaret Hill Trail that starts just past Mongoose Junction, goes up to an observation platform with spectacular views, then descends to Caneel Bay Resort where your can either enjoy lunch or a drink or pass through to Honeymoon and Solomon Beaches and hike back to town!
