About Philip Frankland

Hi I am Phil. My wife Silvy and I have owned and managed our 400 acre farm since 1992 when I moved to Italy from the UK. We started to rent out one apartment in 2002 and enjoyed having people around so much that we decided to restore a huge old 17th century barn and farm house which we turned into 6 holiday rental apartments.

Philip Frankland purchased this farmhouse in 1991

Why Philip Frankland chose Vicenza

We were lucky enough to inherit Palazzo Rosso Farm from my wife Silvy's family.

What makes this farmhouse unique

Our guests love to come and stay at Palazzo Rosso because they can enjoy the benefits of being close to many beautiful places such as Venice, Verona, Padova, Mantova and Vicenza and at the same time when they want to relax they can sit back and enjoy the farm location and beautiful surroundings at Palazzo Rosso.

Guestbook comments from the manager

The apartment was very comfortable, perfect for a family with small children. The satellite TV, DVD player & stereo made life easier when it rained. The kitchen was very well equipped and there were lots of great places to go out for dinner, the Italians all take their children out with them which was a nice change and made our evenings much more enjoyable.

There were lots of places to go and visit close by, we stayed for nearly two weeks and still didn't get to see everything.

We had a great time staying over new year, we even joined in a local new years party which was great fun.

looking forward to coming back soon.

Comfortable, nice showers, enough towels, good beds, very complete kitchen.

Nice surroundings, beautiful hills, well located to the A4 highway.

We like the fire outside.

You've been very helpful and kind.

We like the fresh eggs !!

Family holiday Sept 2017

  • 5 of 5

We stayed Sept 2017. This was our second visit and was just as good ( if not better than our first) Silvi & Phil have fantastic knowledge of the area and were always on hand to advise on where to go and what not to miss! We were in apt 5 which was perfect for 4 Adults and 2 young adults! Very well equipped and spotless!!!!! The pool was fantastic as the weather was so hot and the games room in the evening was great fun for our family.. Perfect location for those who want to see north Italy, we went to Lake Garda, Verona and Venice to name a few!!!! Lots to see and do, we look forward to returning one day 😊

Silvy and Phil have turned a grand old farm into a well equipped base to discover the splendid Veneto region. The Palazzo Rosso is a great place for families and cyclists alike. Silvy and Phil are very friendly and provide plenty of helpful information. Thanks a lot, also for the fresh eggs!

Perfect Location

  • 5 of 5

We booked the farm last minute and did so purely from the photo's and reviews. Phil and Sylvie are great hosts and are always there if you need them but leave you to enjoy your holiday in peace. The apartment was comfortable and well equipped with air conditioning if you needed it. The farm has a great shared outdoor space, games room and pool which was lovely at the end of a hot day. We took advantage of the free bikes as there are lots of local villages to explore and there is also a great cycle path all the way to Vicenza. The farm is in a great location and we went to Venice for the day, Lake Garda (via Sylvie's scenic route) and Asiago in the mountains. We loved our morning walk to get coffee and fresh pastries (5 mins) whilst our teenager slept. We ate in most nights but there is a great pizza restaurant nearby with a fantastic ice-cream shop attached. It is open until 10.30 and it seemed to be the Italian thing to do on a hot evening. We definitely need to return as there is so much more to see and do in the area. Great holiday

Another great stay at Palazzo Rosso

  • 5 of 5

This is the second year we have been to Palazzo Rosso and if anything this year was better than last year ! Fantastic accommodation in a peaceful setting and great hosts. Perfect combination for the perfect holiday. Plenty to do nearby including Lake Garda, water parks for the kids and we also went to the Ferrari museum in Modena. Lots of good restaurants as well. The nearest big town is Vicenza which we visited regularly enjoying coffees in the main square. We would definitely go back again.

Friendly, organised and beautiful. Palazzo Rosso has it all.

  • 5 of 5

This was a lovely place to come back to after visiting all the fantastic places in the region. A perfect marriage of old and new - air conditioning in a beautiful barn conversion- a great pool and a beautiful shaded seating area outside. The organisation is of a high standard; everything is ways clean and tidy so that you can really relax. The owners will try and help you make the most of your time and are good at tailoring their suggestions to the interests of their guests. We loved it.
