Excellent, well located and appointed property with character and lovely pool area.

  • 5 of 5

La Petite Maison was an ideal property for our week in Burgundy (six adults, family and friends). Characterful, well appointed and spacious, the cottage stands in its own garden, backing onto meadows. Sunny patio, which is great for al fresco dining. The bedrooms are light and airy, with comfy beds. Good towels and tea towels, with.ample hot water. The pool is in a separate terraced garden area, which is sheltered, spacious and sunny, with picturesque views across the valley. Plenty of poolside seating and parasols. Lovely sized heated pool for swimming or just being in the water, with Roman steps for safe and easy access. Although the instructions are accurate, the pool cover procedure is a little tricky to work out and needs 2, or preferably 3 adults to accomplish.

Day trips to Dijon and Beaune are a must, as are visits to the nearby vineyard areas of Mersault, Montrachet and Santeney. The chaps enjoyed the aircraft and motor museum at Savingny les Beaune. Although we didn't have time to explore it extensively, the Morvan National Park to the north west is beautiful. Great viewpoint from above Chateau Chinon.

On our last day, we hired bikes from the boat hire centre in St Leger sur Dhune, on the Canal du Centre, by the D974. We enjoyed a delightful ride along the canal, then into the vineyards and Santenay. At €10 each, it was great value, too. We'd packed a picnic, which was a wise move as many of the bakeries close at lunch times.

For evening meals, we made good use of the kitchen and fresh local produce. The market in Dijon was an excellent source at the start of our week. Le Creusot and Autun both have markets and supermarkets: the new Le Clerc in Le Creusot is particularly good and easy to get to.

The owners were most helpful throughout the booking and pre-holiday process. During our stay, we contacted their local agent, Debra, with one small matter. Debra called round immediately to attend to this - and brought flowers from the garden for our table!

This was our first visit to this area and we all thoroughly enjoyed our week at La Petite Maison. Thank you.

Very relaxing week

  • 5 of 5

My wife, four kids (17, 15, 15 and 15) and I spent a very relaxing week in the cottage in mid August. Fantastic weather, cottage, pool and gardens. A superbly refurbished original cottage with plenty of space and great gardens on three sides for stretching out. The pool was well used and set in its own well spaced enclosed garden. Autun on market day was well worth a visit, the local Caves were also worth a trip and apart from that we spent most of the time in the house or the pool. The photos available don't do the cottage justice. We will definitely go back.

holiday review

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at the 4 bedroom property for 2 weeks, making periodic use of the pool. The property is on a hill and has interesting and beautiful views across the valley to the mountain range and most of the villge of St Symphorien. The setting is very much rural with 2 working farms very close with livestock of all shapes and sizes to entertain the children. In addition, we made full use of the tennis court in the village, easy access we saw no-one else play whilst we there! In addition there is some fabulous running terrain from 2 to 12 miles. The property has a spacious kitchen and lounge ideal for large families. Whilst there we visited Autun, typical french town with nice shops, a good market and Roman ampitheatre. Le Creusot is bigger more industrial and has the nearest hypermarkets Carrefour and Geant. We travelled further afield to Beaune, interesting town with its Hospices and just had to go on a couple of trips to the vineyards. we went horse racing in Vitteaux (60 mile drive) a very rual setting and also went tree climbing in Givry (great fun for all ages from 7 to 40!). All in all a great time was had by all! Thank you!

perfect getaway

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week in "la Petite Maison" this summer with 2 little kids ( 2 and 5 years) and enjoyed everything about our stay. The owners , who are super friendly, made arranging and paying real easy, the cottage was amazing, so nicely renovated, decorated, clean with everything you need. It was very safe for our young kids, with a walled in yard, farm animals all around us.Jumping in the nice pool with views of the burgundy valley after exploring cute little towns and sampling the local wine was perfect. We highly recommend this property and would love to go back!!
