Fireplace and confortable main room, stove in Bedroom
This old fisherman's house was completely renovated in 2011, charm and luxurious finishes on all three floors. This is the last but one house on the dock, just in front of two lighthouses in the outer harbor. With its large windows gives you a magnificent sea view from every room, and be grateful to watch the entrances and exit of vessels. This cottage can accommodate two couples with two bedrooms and two bathrooms, or a family with 3 children. Also magnificent view from the kitchen and living room-dining room. His authentic fireplace gives extra warmth to the ambiance of the house, like in open sea but nicely installed on the sofa for windy days.

About Sabine Rousseau
A pictures of our 3 young sailors with 2 friends
Sabine Rousseau purchased this Cottage in 2007
Why Sabine Rousseau chose Port-en-Bessin-Huppain
After spending many times in this house belonging to the family of a close friend, we decided to buy it when it was for sale. We completely renewed the house that was in its juice and thought of it as a family holiday home for us and our guests.
What makes this Cottage unique
Its extraordinary view, windows openings enlarged compared to the house of the beginning of the century. From all the rooms we have this extraordinary view on the sea. Even from the kitchen at the back of the house, which is a little raised, you can overlook the sea. The charm of the apparent stones, its old wooden staircase, the soft warmth of the fireplace. Light and neutral colours are restful. Arrival beds and linen are provided. This is the penultimate house on the quayside, you will find total peace and quiet outside the noise of the sea and seagulls, even in high season.
Sports & Adventure Activities
Great place for a winter break
We had a lovely 3 night break in February (2 adults, 2 kids). The gite is delightful - characterful and quirky but with modern comforts too like efficient heating and a dishwasher. The kids loved having their own floor up in the attic and the adults spent hours looking out of their bedroom window, watching the fishing fleet going in and out and seeing the sun rise and set. Most restaurants in Port-en-Bessin were shut in the evenings but that didn't much matter because the kitchen and dining space were so pleasant. The gite is well placed for trips to Bayeux and Arromanches. Our only suggestion for improvements would be to supply a small number of logs for the fire for winter breaks (it didn't seem worth buying a bag's worth for a short stay, so we ended up not lighting the fire at all, which was a shame).
The house was charming. The bathrooms and kitchen are fully updated and the washer and dryer complete all you will need. But the best part of the house are the fabulous views of the water. You could not be closer. The town is very friendly and charming. Very well located in Normandy, not far from Mont St Micheal You could not ask for anything more!
Our stay in Port-en-Bessin was perfect. The house is even nicer than the pictures on vrbo. Everything was as advertised and working with the owner and Carole who met us and gave us our initial tour was flawless even though we do not speak French. The village of Port-en-Bessin is a perfect place to relax with shops and great restraunts within easy walking distance. The location is also a perfect base for other sightseeing in the area.
I really can't say enough positive about this house & owner, I would highly recommend to anyone intersted in the lower Normandy area. I almost forgot to mention the stunning sea view right from your front porch! You won't want to leave!
Thank you so much for your stay and your comments. I would be happy to welcome you again.
Port-en-Bessin, june 2011 - Wonderful
We have spendt a week in june in this lovely house, and will not hesitate to recommend it. We were 2 adults and to teenagers (17 and 18) and we have enjoyed the possibilities with 2 bathrooms and 2 bedrooms on seperate floors. We had a wondeful view from all rooms, and the house is places close to shops and restaurants. The city is close to many of the sights in the area, both by foot and car. The house is perfect on hot summerdays, as it don't get overheated by the sun.
Thank you Daniela. I will be very pleased to welcome your falsify again. Sabine
