San Juan River Village Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 6)

This cozy, log cabin is beautifully decorated with antiques and located in the San Juan River Village, only 20 minutes from Wolf Creek Ski Area. Magnificent views of the San Juan Mountains can be enjoyed from wrap-around decks on three sides and a balcony off the loft. The sound of the San Juan River at the bottom of the hill provides great relaxation. Free HIGH SPEED INTERNET connection is installed.

The cabin is easily accessible on a maintained road, just a short distance off Highway 160, six miles east of Pagosa Springs.

Hummingbird Haven will comfortably accommodate six persons but can sleep as many as eight. The bedroom downstairs has a queen-size bed and the loft bedroom has a full-size and trundle which pulls out to king-size. The sofa in the living room opens into a queen-size bed. There is a full bathroom downstairs.

All cooking and baking needs are provided in the kitchen. The laundry room has a full-size washer and dryer. The dining and living room are tastefully furnished with some family heirlooms as well as a more modern satellite TV with DVD player and a gas log fireplace. The fireplace easily heats the cabin on the coldest nights, but electric radiant heat is also available. The loft also has a satellite TV.

Whether you need a cabin for skiing, a honeymoon retreat, or just a mountain get-away, HUMMINGBIRD HAVEN is the perfect place!

About Mary Knopfle

LeRoy was born and raised in Colorado and Mary moved to Denver from Indiana after graduating from college. Both LOVED Colorado….LeRoy was a cowboy/bullrider and Mary was an avid skier.

A business opportunity of a lifetime took us to Florida in 1981 but our dream was always to return to the southwestern part of Colorado when we retired. We are living out that dream now by spending as much time as we can at Hummingbird Haven and making many wonderful memories with our grandchildren, family and friends.. When we are not at our beautiful log cabin, we love sharing it with others.

Mary Knopfle purchased this cabin in 2004

Why Mary Knopfle chose Pagosa Springs

The Pagosa Springs area offers many adventure opportunities, all of which our entire family enjoys: mountain biking, skiing, horseback riding, camping, hiking, rafting, 4-wheeling, snowmobiling, golfing and fishing. And, if we don’t feel like exercising, we can sit back, relax, and enjoy the surroundings. This area has some of the most beautiful scenery found anywhere in the world.

What makes this cabin unique

Hummingbird Haven is away from all the hustle and bustle and yet only 17 miles from Wolf Creek Ski area and 5 miles from downtown Pagosa Springs where there are many restaurants and of course the healing waters of the Hot Springs. The San Juan River and San Juan mountains are right out the back door to enjoy and so are the many hummingbirds in the summertime.

Guestbook comments from the owner

As we leave on Sunday morning, I am reminded of a phrase that seems appropriate for your cabin! "To pay homage to beauty is to admire nature; to admire nature is it worship God." Lovely cabin in a unique, beautiful setting.

Thank you for sharing.

hummingbird haven

This place was awesome. It is in a great little neighborhood to walk or run in. The location is great, cheating towards the pass but yet very close to town. The house was clean and heated up easily. The porches are great to relax on, as is the family room. Overall this was a great place to spend a week!

Cozy Cabin Perfectly located between Pagosa and Wolf Creek CO

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time on our vacation and a huge part of this was the awesome cabin and the fact that it was ideally situated close to town and Wolf Creek. We explored the town and skied 4 days. One day we went to Durango. There is everything you need at the cabin to relax and enjoy your downtime. Mary was great and answered all our questions quickly. Everything was easy peasy! Also, the skiing was fabulous and as advertised, it was the most snow anywhere in Colorado. We will definitely go back to Hummingbird Haven. Thanks again Mary!! The Rowe Family.

Great cabin, had everything we needed provided. Beds comfortable, temp was perfect, quiet and felt like we were away from everything. A definite favorite from now on.

Great cabin get-away spot

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at Hummingbird Haven and will definitely be going back. Pluses about the property were: proximity to ski mountain, overall aesthetics of the house, availability (we scheduled last minute on a holiday weekend), access to the property (very easy to access with key pad and great instructions on how to check out), allowed us to bring our furry friend. There were just a few down sides- there was not enough toilet paper for our stay and we had to go into town to pick some up, it got pretty hot upstairs in the loft, and there really wasn't any access off of the porch because we were waist deep in snow (obviously not a problem in the summer). All-in-all it was a great stay. It was warm and cozy and we will definitely be going back. My dad and husband agree that this place would be a 10/10 if there was a hot tub. Little consideration for the owners for skiers coming off a long day of skiing. Thanks again for a great place to call home for the weekend.

Very smooth rental, really enjoyed our stay.

  • 5 of 5

We rented during ski season so was a little worried about access and the need for 4 wheel drive. Everything was plowed well and road was flat so 2 wheel drive had no problem. "Lock Box" worked great, so we walked right in to an inviting log cabin. Lots of towels and kitchen was pretty well stocked with utensils. Centrally located gas pot belly stove heated the cabin surpirsingly well. We still used the electric wall heater in the bedroom. There was plenty of room fro the 4 of us. Decorated with plenty of charm but not cluttered. The check out procedure was plenty reasonable, the only hitch being there is no dishwasher, so all plates, cups and pans hand to be handwashed. Overall a great stay and would definitely stay here again.
