We stayed for 2 weeks in Olivier's beautiful home in Uzes and it was a perfect base for our time exploring the area. The house is located just a few minutes walk from the square at the heart of town and as a result it was very easy to head out to get any supplies, or for a meal at any of the many good restaurants in town. It was also a treat to pop out each morning to go pick up the bread from the selection of the boulangerie's up the road! It was just my husband and I in the house for some of the time and we also had 2 other family members join us. Although it was more space than 2 people would need, we loved the layout and it's perfectly suited to having multiple couples staying. Many a good glass of french wine was shared at the big dining table downstairs or out by the lovely pool area. Uzes is a very close drive (or bus ride) to a lot of main tourist sights in the region, and it has the bonus of being just large enough to have all the amenities you need but not so big that you loose the lovely small local village feel. Like many others have said, we hope to return again soon!
Like all the other reviews we (5 of us) were instantly impressed as soon as we were shown in the door.....WOW! The house is in the heart of Uzes however you would not be aware of that once you close the doors - lying by the pool you could have believed that you were isolated way out in the countryside. The house itself is large, spacious and very well equipped with plenty of chairs, loungers etc if you need/want your own space. We particularly enjoyed the balcony off the main bedroom suite....very nice and handy for a "sun-downer" before heading off into town to sample the delights of the many restaurants. We also ate in well as we enjoyed shopping in the markets and bakeries...such a great choice. Uzes is also central to visit the surrounding area......however, you really do have to pull yourself away from enjoying the house in order to do that. We were all thoroughly relaxed in the home from home - when you have busy and stressful professions it's great to find a place like this to "chillax"....
Many thanks Olivier for such a great stay - we greatly appreciate all your help.
Just returned from a fabulous stay in Uzes and without question this is our favourite property that we have rented. As previously mentioned it is close to the centre of town but once behind the doors you could be miles away. Blissfully quiet and amazingly convenient to everything you need.
We never tired of the spectacular entrance and it is fitted with all the modern conveniences you could wish for - fast wifi, bluetooth connection to the seven channel stereo, satellite TV with on demand services if you require them, decent kitchen, coffee machine etc. etc. The property is large but we found ourselves using all the living areas despite it just being the two of us. The pool area is lovely.
It is a cliche but the photos really don't do this house justice, we never tired of the grand view on entrance to the property
Uzes itself is a lovely town, plenty of nice bars and restaurants and access to some of the finest produce I have eaten. I hope we can return in the near future, I can't recommend this property highly enough.
This is the first review I ever write (and I wrote it 6 months after my stay) as time goes by, we appreciate more and more the great vacation we had at Uzes. Uzes is a beautiful medieval town, not as crowded as other famous Provence towns with good restaurants and a great weekly market. In addition the location is great and there are plenty of attractions within 30 minutes drive. The house is on a quiet pedestrian street, my kids could do bread and grocery shopping every morning without us being worried. The house is beautiful and in MINT condition. Spotless clean and very convenient. In the summer months a dip in the pool after a long hot day was great. We like the house so much that it was hard to leave it.
There isn't a lot we can add that the previous review hasn't said, except that we would agree with all they have written! A beautifully renovated and well maintained villa - we really enjoyed spending time here. We loved exploring the town, which had a good selection of bars, restaurants and shops. We also drove to St Quentin La Poterie - about ten minutes away, where we spent a very enjoyable afternoon discovering the pottery studios and had the best lunch of the holiday at a restaurant in the small square called 30 Degrees Sud. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this house, except to hope it will be available when want to come back!
We absolutely loved our week's stay at this beautiful villa in Uzes. We are family of four from Boulder, Colorado, USA and the villa was ideal for us. It is beatifully renovated and there are many thoughtful touches that helped us to feel at home - including a well stocked kitchen with cooled beverages in the refrigerator upon our arrival. The villa is very well maintained, wonderfully furnished and impeccably clean.
The private patio is on two levels, with abundant seating in the shade or sunshine. Our teenage children made great use of the pool, and they asked to return early from sightseeing trips so they could spend time in the pool and on the patio.
There are two bedrooms on the top floor of the main building, plus an additional loft bedroom in the studio, which is on the other side of the courtyard from the main house. (Our 16 year old son enjoyed having his own space there, but it would not work as well for younger children.) Each bedroom has a comfortable queen size bed, plenty of storage space and it's own bathroom; the bedroom that overlooks the patio also has a deck. The living room is on the middle level and the spacious kitchen / dining room is on the entry level.
The villa is on a lovely, narrow private road that is paved with pale stones and quite picturesque. (Google maps does not show the correct location if you look at the street view, so don't let that discourage you.) The private parking is about a block away, behind a locked gate.
The pretty town of Uzes is the perfect size for a vacation: big enough to have plenty to explore and good restaurants, but small enough to not have lots of urban junk around it. Unlike the towns we visited in Provence, Uzes had relatively few tourists, which we liked. There were two markets in the lovely Place aux Herbes while we were there - very festive, with lots of beautiful foods and local products. It's definitely a good idea to ask when the markets are and to plan to stay in town those days. It's fun to purchase fresh food at the market for a picnic in the courtyard.
We enjoyed the 4/ Sept. restaurant on the Place aux Herbes (good pizza and friendly service) and had our best meal of our vacation at Mille Zime, on the circle road. There are also plenty of little boutiques with gifts from the region.
Thank you, Olivier, for providing such a lovely home!
