Lovely restored coach house
The Rollins are so accommodating and willing to answer any and all questions. They offered help with directions and ideas for seeing sites. They even provided a goodie basket and fresh juice, eggs, bread and milk. The jam was home made! The small village of Claygate has everything you need from restaurants, shops, grocery, fishmonger, butcher, bakery, fruit and vegetables and more. All a short walk from the house. The train station that takes you to London is in the village.
The coach house has been restored to make a most comfortable house for a vacation stay. The kitchen is great including some basic spices, sugar, tea and coffee and all the rest of the space was really nice. There is a small woodburning stove that we used in the evenings to take the chill off and it nicely warmed the whole house. My only wish is to have stayed longer. I would recommend this property to everyone looking for a delightful home away from home. Thank you so much to wonderful hosts.
A stylishly renovated property in a great location!
This is a brilliant location to access Surrey and London attractions. The owners are wonderfully helpful and the property has been renovatied with modern “Surrey” taste. Fabulous, thank you Elaine.
Wonderful property and hosts!
The Gatehouse was very clean and was furnished with everything needed to cook nice meals. Wonderful welcome basket too! The Garden was lovely and the way the back wall is a window wall of doors is fantastic. Elaine and Hubby were so friendly and helpful. He even drove us to a neighboring town to catch a train when there was a repair on the tracks near Claygate. We definitely recommend and would love to return for another relaxing stay. Claygate is safe and from Gatehouse it is a short walk to pubs, shops and train station.
We felt very welcome, the cottage is lovely, the welcome basket was more than nice, with bread, jam, croissants etc.
Lovely garden and a very good surrounding to visit London and enjoy country site
Beautiful home, lovely hosts, excellent location for exploring Surrey and London, no car needed.
Absolutely beautiful and modern home with everything you need, well equipped kitchen with a lovely welcome basket, laundry, office w/wifi, garden access, etc. Market and restaurants just a 5 min walk away, Claygate train station with easy trains to London less than a 10 min walk. Elaine and Michael are wonderful hosts, so friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful stay and plan to book again for our next trip. Highly recommend.
From start to finish the coach house proved to be an inspired choice, the communication with Elaine prior to arriving was great.
We travelled from South Wales ( 4 adults and 5 week old baby)and when we arrived we were warmly greated by Elaine who showed us the property, there was also a very lovely hamper there which took care of breakfast on the first morning, some lovely biscuits too... which didn't last long, the wine was also a nice touch. Elaine immediately made us feel welcome and relaxed.
The fixtures and fittings of the property are to a very good quality spec, everything was comfortable and plenty of room for the 5 of us. It really is a lovely property.
Claygate is also a lovely spot, a short walk away is everything you could need, a Coop , Butchers, fishmongers, various takeaway establishments, 2 pubs etc.
We would love to stay again in the future when we are visiting family in the area. Couldn't recommend highly enough, hope this review helps anybody searching for the perfect home from home.
The Coach House is in Claygate, which is a thriving village with a real sense of community.
There are restaurants, pubs and other eating places, coffee shops etc. It also has a number of independently run shops including a butcher, a bakers, a greengrocer and fishmonger.
Claygate is also very well placed for transport links generally.
It has a regular half hourly train service into London Waterloo (and to Guildford via Cobham) and a local bus service into nearby Kingston.
The A3 and M25 are easily accessible, as are London Heathrow and Gatwick airports.
It is handy for visiting Hampton Court Palace and Gardens, RHS Wisley and Kew Gardens.
Keen walkers and cyclists will find the Surrey Hills not too far away.
For sports fans Twickenham and Wimbledon are also not far away.
