Overview

About the property

Secluded farmhouse with private swimming pool, games room and large garden

www.la-peyriere.com

La Peyriere is one of the most beautiful examples of a french farmhouse you could possibly find, located right in the heart of Aveyron, South-West France. Situated in the hills near the town of La Fouillade, it provides the perfect escape from everyday life, yet it's within 30 minutes drive of 3 stunning towns, 2 recently voted the most beautiful in the whole of France.

A very typical example of local architecture with a beautiful 'fish scale' slate tile roof. Renovated to a very high standard and impeccably maintained ever since. The sunset over the pool and kitchen is to die for!

The property benefits from a beautiful outdoor area, with terrace overlooking the swimming pool and BBQ (the pool is open May - October) and wrapped around with a 4 acre field to provide you with as much privacy as you could wish for.

Nestled in the hills 5 minutes from Lunac, a village with Boulangarie, and 10 minutes from La Fouillade, which has a major supermarket. We're incredibly lucky to be just 15 minutes away from Najac, a village named as a 'Beaux Village de France'.

Slightly further afield we are 30 minutes drive away form 3 stunning towns... Saint Antonin Noble Val, with a stunning Sunday market and voted the most beautiful town in France in 2015. Then to the South East, Cordes sur Ciel, a hilltop town with lovely restaurants and shops, voted the most beautiful town in France a few years earlier!

To the North is Villefranche de Rouergue, another stunning town with a cracking Thursday market.

About Chris

Kim and I both live and work in London with our daughter Lilly. My family are half French and I grew up so close to French culture it was always a dream to some day buy in France, thankfully Kim didn't need much persuading!

We've been renting our London home on airbnb for some time so we're used to catering for guests and have really enjoyed introducing each of our guests to a new area, there's much more to explore now in the Aveyron!

Chris purchased this farmhouse in 2016

Why Chris chose Lunac

The photos hopefully speak for themselves, but seeing the house in person took our breath away. it ticks every box, we wanted seclusion but also access to beautiful towns such as Cordes, St Antonin, Najac, Albi... the list goes on!

Pierre and Huguette also played a large part, they are almost like family and Pierre has known the house his whole life, he has some amazing stories to tell about its history.

What makes this farmhouse unique

If you want action, adventure, tranquility, nature, great food, great wine, great markets, culture, it's all there.

Not only that, the house is quite stunning, inside and out. Having had many holidays in Chambre D'Hotes across Provence and Le Lot we've tried to bring each bit we loved to La Peyriere.

The perfect place for a break from it all, in peaceful, very rural and stunning surroundings

  • 5 of 5

We had such a lovely break at La Peyriere... late October and it hit 28 degrees! So with the pool still in action, we were able to enjoy it! The house is perfect for a country break, well equipped and comfortable. Chris sent us a fantastic information pack before we arrived, and we had such a lovely welcome on arrival. The surrounding area is full of beautiful villages, delicious restaurants and great markets. Can imagine La Peyriere is great in all seasons... for us, it was pool by day, roaring fires by night. Wonderful!

Beautiful & Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

We came to La Peyriere looking for somewhere where could enjoy the last of the Autumn sunshine and share some good food and wine with friends. We were delighted to find that the weather was much better than what we left back in the UK, it topped 28c one day and the pool was well used as a result! The scenery around the house was breathtaking, imagine the best of the English countryside with a Mediterranean climate. There were markets on most days, we were glad to have gone to Villefranche on Thursday, where they had an incredible range of produce, in particular the cepes and chanterelle mushrooms. In the afternoon we made time to relax by the pool which was incredibly relaxing, there was plenty to see just form the pool, including hawks, kingfishers and the evening plenty of owls and frogs. Our highlight in the evening was putting on the wood burner and chatting over a few bottles of wine and planning our next day of adventures! We must also thank Pierre and Huguette who look dafter us incredibly well, Pierre visited us most days to ensure we had what we needed, he’s quite a character!

An delightful hideaway in bucholic countryside

  • 5 of 5

I rented this lovely house for 3 weeks at the end of September/beginning of October and had friends and family visit during my stay to celebrate a special birthday. The house oozes charm and is well equipped. We made use of the wood-stove on some cooler evenings and even roasted chestnuts we foraged on our walks. The boulangerie at Lunac is a 30 minute walk away through quiet roads and a great way to start the day. We used the pool during the first couple of weeks in the afternoons after our morning trips. There are a number of lovely historic villages/towns within an easy drive and a train service from Toulouse to Najac after an easy bus ride from the airport to the train station…a number of my guests came by this route with a simple pick up at Najac. This is definitely a destination for getting away from it all. Pierre and Huguette who care take the property are very welcoming and helpful at all times. A great find!

Great farmhouse with a fabulous outdoor pool area.

  • 5 of 5

La Peyriere sits in an area of lovely rolling countryside. It does feel a little bit out of the way when you first arrive there but it isn`t at all. Good little bakery in Lunac is 5 minutes away and the village of La Fouillade is 10 minutes. The Intermarche supermarket in La Fouillade has everything you need and is open 7 days a week in the summer. The village has a bar and café, great bakery, post office, and pizza restaurant and takeaway.

The house is in a wonderfully peaceful location. There is no traffic noise at all. We saw deer, hares, a fox and a pine marten. The kitchen is well equipped and the lounge is very comfortable. The basement is a great spot for noisy teenagers. The WiFi worked well everywhere.

The swimming pool area is the best bit. Really good quality outdoor furniture and good sized pool. We liked the roman steps in the shallow end and the ledge around the deep end which enables you to stand up at the side of the pool. The sun was on the pool from 10am until sunset. The pool light was great for an evening dip. Great to have a CD player in the barn.

The outdoor table is close to the kitchen door which makes it easy to eat outside. The patio is a lovely private and secluded area. Great for stargazing at night. The olive trees are a lovely touch.

Najac is only 15 minutes away. Lovely village to visit. We managed to get to the market in Villefranche de Rouergue in 25 minutes. Best to park near the railway station and arrive between 9 and 10am before the crowds. Lots of other great places to visit. St Antonin has a busy market on Sundays but worth a visit. Cordes sur Ciel as well.

Pierre and his wife live nearby and look after the house. Pierre visits regularly to clean the pool and have a chat. He is a knowledgeable local who knows everything there is to know. He directed us to a good butcher in Rieperoux. Great to find such an open and friendly Frenchman.

Chris was very responsive and helpful throughout the booking process. We would have no hesitation in recommending this farmhouse.

Stunning home from home...highly recommend

  • 5 of 5

We had a fabulous family break in this beautiful home. The house is a perfect location for exploring the surrounding areas and the pool itself and outdoor area was perfect for lazy afternoons with our children and friends. The house is extremely private with fabulous interiors and a perfect outdoor area and games room for eating out in the evenings. We highly recommend the house and will most definitely be returning with friends and family for the perfect get away in one of the most beautiful parts of France. This was most definitely one of the most relaxing house rental holidays we have experienced!

French perfection

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a place to stay with our parents and some friends, with 3 children in total. We found La Peyriere and had some questions which the owners answered very promptly, there was a fantastic guide they sent which gave us an idea of what to do in the area and more about the house. We soon realised we needed more than one week!

The house itself is really well equipped and the furniture is lovely. The rooms are well sized and and the living room is really comfy, we'd love to come back in the winter and test the wood burning stove! The games room was a real winner for the kids, they spent many hours playing pool and table tennis, leaving us in peace, and all visible from the pool area.

Pierre and Huguette looked after the house and were around almost each day to clean the pool and were super helpful. Pierre is a real character and made us feel really welcome, we felt we were part of the community for the week. It was very kind of him to show the kids around the farm and see his stunning cows.

The house is well secluded, easy to miss from the lane which is what we loved, very peaceful and the nearest village has a nice boulangerie which is a 5 minute drive. My wife and I even took a brisk walk one morning, an hour there and back. The restaurants in Najac are stunning and the La Chataigneraie by the river is such good fun, live jazz every night! We'd love to come again next year, it's a real find!

Luke and family.
