Great Apartment, Wonderful Location

  • 5 of 5

This is a wonderful apartment. Spacious while being very inclusive. The location is outside the swarms of people in a lovely older neighborhood, but close enough to get anywhere you want. The owner could not have been more accommodating, from helping us with transportation to and from the apartment from the airport to making sure we had supplies for our 1st night and morning. This is 1st rate lodging with 1st rate owner. Highly recommended!!

An oasis of calm

  • 5 of 5

My family and I recently stayed at this property. Prior to our arrival, Michel was most accommodating in helping us with transportation. This was our first trip to Venice and we did not know what to expect. Michel met us at the apartment and helped us get settled. He also provided us with various provisions: bread, butter, jam, coffee, milk, juice, cookies, beer and Proseco. He was also a wealth of information regarding the area. The apartment itself is very large and spacious with all the modern conveniences. It does have real air conditioning to cool you during the hot summer days.

I must admit that at first I was skeptical about the location. It is located in a residential section of Cannaregio. There are two restaurants directly down stairs but very few other businesses. I expected a little more life than this. But like the saying goes, be careful what you wish for. As soon as you cross two small canals you are immediately engulfed in a massive army of tourists, restaurants, street vendors and shops. The further you go the worse it gets. As it turns out, I couldn't wait to get back to the apartment and its peaceful neighborhood.

Perfect spot

  • 5 of 5

Our group of 4 thouroughly enjoyed our stay. The flat is located away from the really touristy part of Venice, but close enough that you can be a part of it all in a few minutes of walking. The accommodations were indeed luxurious and working the Marc and his dad was very easy.

Beautiful house in a great location

  • 5 of 5

I booked this property for a women's trip to see the Biennale and we loved it. There are 3 big bedrooms with plenty of room to unpack and hang up clothes for the week. The kitchen was a great space and the living room was big and included a large dining table. We also loved the location being in the Cannaregio district - happening night life one street over, close to a market and of course shopping. Michel met us at the Vaporetto stop and showed us everything we needed to know for the property and we had a magical week there. It was clean and charming with great views of the canal and had everything we needed to enjoy our trip. Don't miss eating at 40 Ladroni which is right downstairs - authentic Italian food and the owners/waiters treated us like family by the end of the trip - not to be missed. I would highly recommend this beautiful space to anyone staying in Venice. Thank you Marc for such a great trip!! We will be back!

The apartment is a luxury duplex in early gothic Palazzo. The apartment has-been fully renovated, with respect to icts original colors, style and materials. You Will Find That It Is An extremely pleasant stay, Because it is quiet, very sunny, spacious: the apartment Measures 140 sqm (1,506 square feet). There are three comfortable bedrooms, a wide, fully functional, nicely equipped moder kitchen, three bathrooms and large living room. The living room has a fireplace. the apartment is fully furnished with all Necessary comforts, and: has a southerly view on a calm canal. All amenities are available: 41 inches LCD TV, Bose sound system with DVD, Internet access with an internet key, A / C. I just purchased a very comfortable, modern couch from the famous italian designer brand 'Living' - You Will find it quite amazing.

The area of Cannaregio is very venetian, all shops are in the vicinities: market, butcher, groceries, fish, bars, restaurants, banks, supermarket, pharmacies, all Within a 200/400 meters radius. The apartment accomodates up to 6 people. The rate is 400 euros / night, 2,200 / week.

Cannaregio is the northernmost of the six historic sestieri (districts) of Venice. It is the second Largest sestiere by land area and the Largest by population

The Cannaregio Canal, qui Was the main road Into the city Until the building of a railway link to the mainland, icts Gave the district name. Development Began in the eleventh century as the area parallel Was drained and dredged canals Were. ALTHOUGH elegant palazzos Were built facing the Grand Canal, the area Grew Primarily with working class housing and manufacturing. The history of the Ghetto of Venice is particuarly fascinating. When on March 29th, 1516 the Government of the Serenissima Repubblica Issued Special Laws, the first Ghetto of Europe Was instituted. It Was an area Where Were Jews forced to live and qui They couldn't leave from sunset to dawn. Was the area closed by gates watched by guards and up till now the marks of the hinges are visible there. Were Jews allowed to practice only Some occupations: They Were doctors, Because They Were the MOST reliable and Prepared To Understand Arab writings, money lenders, as Because Catholic religion forbade this practice, and merchants 'strazzarioli' ragsellers. HOWEVER, Jews Held successful positions in the city Such As merchants, physicians, money lenders, as --other and trades. The Ghetto Existed for more than two and a half centuries, until, Conquered Napoleon Venice and finally ouvert and eliminated Every gate (1797): Were Jews finally free to live in Other areas of the city.

In the 19th century, civil engineers built a street named Strada Nuova through Cannaregio, and a railway bridge and road bridge Were Constructed to connect directly to Venice Mestre. Today, the Areas of the district along the Grand Canal from the train station to the Rialto Bridge are packed with tourists, but the rest of Cannaregio is residential and Relatively peaceful, with morning markets, neighborhood shops, and small cafés.

• Cannaregio: Alla Vedova 'close to the Ca' d'Oro, "40 Ladroni" and "Anice stellato" in Fondamenta della Sensa. "Gam Gam" and "da Marisa" for lunch. 'Corte del Remer' entre san Campo Santi Apostoli and Bortolomio (also lunchtime)

• Dorsoduro: 'Da Sandro' in Calle Lunga San Barnaba (Dorsoduro), Al Bottegon (san Trovaso, Dorsoduro);

• Castello 'Corte Sconta'.

• Giudecca "Figli delle stelle" and "Altanella" in the Giudecca. In the Giudecca you can find a good restaurant aussi at the naval shipyard 'da Crea' 100 meters from the studio. Orelse, always in the Giudecca, "I Do Mori" and "Ai cacciatori" (Higher quality & price) close to the Palanca vaporetto stop.

• San Marco: Higher up (50/100 eur per person, excellent quality and service): Ai Do Forni (san Marco) and Hotel Monaco (Giardinetti di San Marco)

• Bars and nightlife ... if you still-have energy at night, nightlife is in the Fondamenta della Misericordia (Cannaregio), Rialto and surroundings (Naranzaria) and Campo Santa Margherita (Dorsoduro). Antico Martini Bar Centrale and (close to the Fenice), al Muro (san Luca). The last stop Piccolo Mondo Antico in the Accademia (the only nightclub in Venice!).

Apart from san Marco (both the Basilica and Palazzo Ducale shoulds not be missed), Rialto, Scuola Grande San Rocco, San Giorgio Maggiore, San Giorgio degli Schiavoni, the Redentore church in the Giudecca Basilica della Salute, the Accademia Santa Maria dei Carmini ... the ideal timeframe to visit Venice spans from two weeks (minimum) to a lifetime. There really is a lot to discover. The best thing is to get lost outside of the tourist track, at day or night (Venice is one of the safest cities in the world) in Castello, Dorsoduro, San Polo and Cannaregio.
