Couldn't find it, then GoPro disappeared

  • 1 of 5

Although the instructions stated "Call Paul, anytime day or night", this wasn't helpful when we were trying to call him for a good 20-30 minutes, driving around in the dark, due to the instructions not being clear enough for us to find the boat.

Had to bring our own bedding; none was provided.

Thankfully, we were out of the boat and away from the disgusting smell of the toilet for the majority of our stay, exploring and so we're only there in the evenings; the sofa and fire pit outside of the boat are a good addition however and allowed for a magical evening, toasting marshmallows and having a bbq.

When leaving the boat at 5am in the dark, we cleaned the boat, put everything back in place, gathered all our rubbish and put it in the outside bin, then moved all of our belongings to the back of the boat. I put my GoPro, strap and case on top of the fridge at the rear.

I then put our belongings in the car as my friend passed them out of the boat to me. Unfortunately, she didn't realise I had put the GoPro on the side and didn't pass it out to me. We left...

I contacted Paul the next day who said he didn't see it and would ask the new guests later in the evening... When I pushed, he later decided he may have thrown it out and described what seemed to be, the world's largest skip, eluding to the fact I'd never find it; so I made clear, the simple observation that we had cleaned it and thrown away all rubbish; so if he had thrown a £400 camera, the strap and hard case (left next to the camera), these would have been the ONLY ITEMS he would have needed to bag up and throw away... Hardly plausible or something you'd do without noticing. Later, I was told to stop texting and that he'd go to the boat on the Wednesday to check it, look in the skip and let me know.

I heard nothing on the Wednesday, then on the Thursday afternoon decided to prompt him, when I had a single line message that no, it hadn't been found and the skip had been emptied..... Make your own minds up.

I personally will never be staying here again.

Lovely rural location

  • 5 of 5

Very quiet and well maintained, perfect for relaxing and only 20 minute drive from most attractions, we opted for Kayaking on the river Dee and the ice cream farm. It is very compact which i what i expected and was happy with but going with 2 older children they were of the opinion it was a bit too small for the 3 of us...outside space more than makes up for it though and is spacious and well layed out.

Pleasant surprise was the swans and ducks popping in for breakfast to say hi which the girls loved.

Overall a great holiday and I have already recommended to some of my friends.

A week afloat

  • 4 of 5

Loved the enclosed garden areas with lots of sun, boat compact and clean, fed the ducks and looked up from washing up to see a family of swans looking in. Very hot in boat, will be back

Canal holiday on houseboat.

  • 4 of 5

After contacting the owner we were able to sort out a couple of problems and then we enjoyed the cozy boat. Chester water is disgusting so used our bought water to fill kettle. It was a bit muddy where we parked car although there were stones. Need wellies, which we had. Cooker worked well. Winter time there was a bit of condensation but had taken an old towel ready for this. Can't wait until we go again in the summer!! Only tiny loo on board so we needed to use the loo in farm yard but decided to go to Sainsbury's and get cooked breakfast!!
